Wednesday, July 25, 2007 (7/25/2007 07:13:00 PM) - Al The Brewers traded for Scott Linebrink, a reliever for the Padres, and gave up 3 minor league pitchers for him, including Wil Inman, ranked by many as one of their top prospects. Linebrink is one of the top set-up men in the game. I am not sure of his contract status, but I believe he will be a free agent after this year. UPDATE: Scott will be a free agent after this current campaign. This is a rental, though I would assume Doug will have no trouble offering him arby, which would likely net 2 compensation picks if he chooses to sign elsewhere. To be blunt, this would seem to indicate Doug is very serious about making a run right now, and is letting the chips fall where they may. I have never been a fan of Inman, as he is very short for a RHP. There have been successful RH's 6-1 or less, but there have been a plethora of them burn out as well. I admit, I'm more surprised the Crew made a deal with SD and Tony Jr. was not involved. More on the trade later. 7/25/2007 07:13:00 PM |
