Friday, January 11, 2008 (1/11/2008 08:23:00 PM) - Al Fun with numbers: Torri Hunter, career------.324/.469, 793 OPS, 152 OXS, 5y/$90M Mike Cameron, career away-.345/.464, 809 OPS, 160 OXS, 1y/$6M Granted, Mike is 3 years older than Torri, but when you add up nuggets of info such as Mike having played in pitcher's parks his entire career... Safeco--95 (100 is neutral, under means it is not an offensive ballpark) Shea----98 Petco---91 ...you might be inclined to use his road numbers to get an expectation of what to expect playing in Miller Park half the time (MP has ranked as a 100 the past two years, by the way). Both are outstanding defenders, though some feel Hunter has slipped a tad the past couple seasons. Once again, Doug finds value even in a bloated free agent market. I would have preferred a more OBP heavy player, as would have Doug and Gord, but Mike is a fine fallback, to say the least. By the way, I had some interesting posts about Cameron ages ago, and since they are being mentioned on some message boards (and in some cases, misquoted, geez, get off the drugs and use the archives fellas!), I'll link to a couple here.
