The Mariners are calling up Jeff Clement and Wladimir Balentien and designating Brad Wilkerson for assignment.

It's just another example of how poorly the Mariners are being run. Clement and Balentien only needed to stay in the minors for another week to guarantee that they wouldn't be eligible for free agency until after 2013. Wilkerson gets the heave ho despite going 3-for-3 with a walk last night. Obviously, the team made the decision before then, as both Clement and Balentien were held out of Tacoma's lineup last night.--Rotoworld

Oof. Just an overall lack of planning from the get go, as things have not changed a bit from late March to late April. SEA has been lost since before they signed Richie Sexson to a mammoth contract most everyone knew would be an albatross long before it expired.

Whatever strikes me as interesting, and serious Milwaukee Brewers thoughts. If you are a believer in respecting OBP, throwing strikes, and keeping the ball in the park, you may have found the place you've been searching for. I don't believe in paying a no hit/good field SS $7 million per year (Jack Wilson, I'm talking about you). I don't think it's a good idea to "play for a run" early in the game. Build up your minor league system, and watch success follow.
