Monday, June 30, 2008 (6/30/2008 06:08:00 PM) - Al One name that has not come up in any trade discussions that might be available is Aaron Harang, the Reds' ace that has struggled a tad this year, and the Reds may look to rebuild with younger, cheaper SP's. He is signed through 2011 at $10-11M per, and while he is just 3-10 this year, his ERA is only a third of a run higher than his career mark...probably just a victim of a few fly balls that sneaked over the fence rather than were caught on the warning track. I have a lot of reservations about giving too much for a dozen starts, but for a solid SP signed for a few years (and who is about 30), I'd be a bit more accepting. Also, he fits the "buy low, sell high" mentality I love to follow. The fact is, if the Reds had given him more run support, he might be 7-6, and worth a lot more in trade. Odd things like that are exactly what to look for. 6/30/2008 06:08:00 PM |
