Jack Z makes his first FA signing, bringing in Russell Branyan, who I assume will either platoon at 3B or LF, depending on if Beltre opens 2009 with the M's.
Jack is known to love the HR, though some of them will turn into long outs or doubles at Safeco. It'll be interesting to see if Jack tries to clear out payroll and do a total rebuild, or some sort of patchwork, half-hearted version while spending $70-80M.

Whatever strikes me as
interesting, and serious Milwaukee Brewers thoughts. If you are a believer
in respecting OBP, throwing strikes, and keeping the ball in the park,
you may have found the place you've been searching for. I don't
believe in paying a no hit/good field SS $7 million per year (Jack Wilson, I'm talking about you). I don't think
it's a good idea to "play for a run" early in the game. Build up your
minor league system, and watch success follow.
