My apologies to Howell and Gorzelanny, who are far closer to Gonzalez and Burnett than I thought. The ERA/WHIP above are since '09, except for Tom G, who was used as a SP mostly until '11, so his are his career totals. Choate is very good versus lefties and very weak versus RH bats, so he is more of a one batter guy.
If they'd go with him, or any loogy, for that matter, other relievers will have to eat the innings he will leave out there...he hasn't gone more than 45 since '04. Considering the average bullpen arm throws about 70, that's about 25 frames the other six guys will have to pitch. That, in a nutshell, is why Doug hasn't had a loogy in ages. Gonzalez has also not thrown many innings of late, Howell missed all of 2010 with injury.
I'd probably rank them Burnett, Gonzalez, Gorzy, Howell, Choate, with big gaps between 2&3 and 4&5.
I'd add Raffy Perez into the same group as Gorzy and Howell, as he has held both LH/RH to an under 700 OPSA, and has been almost equal versus both. I'd probably prefer him to either, by a bit.

Whatever strikes me as
interesting, and serious Milwaukee Brewers thoughts. If you are a believer
in respecting OBP, throwing strikes, and keeping the ball in the park,
you may have found the place you've been searching for. I believe in low taxes, small government, and am not afraid to be labeled patriotic.
