GB sends this in about a drug used to minimize pain. Note it has the same side effects as Aleve or aspirin, one has to wonder if it's any more dangerous than high doses of those, or more effective. I was told by a doctor to take two Aleve every four hours for a week or two, and if my ailment wasn't better, to return. Sure enough, it worked, and in a week or so, I forgot to take them, and the pain never returned.
Since then, the Rambling wife and I have done this "therapy" several times, and it has always worked. I know John McEnroe said he was taking tons of Tylenol and other OTC drugs every day the second half of his career, just to be able to keep playing. He has also said today's players (the men at least) are in such good shape, he doesn't know if they are still doing that or not.
I think it's clear they are, and while progress is being made (for example, closers rarely go more than an inning and rarely warm up without pitching), guys keep pushing it, Weeks and ARod are two prime examples. As long as the meds allow it, they keep trying to do what others have not.
