Watching Jeff Ross Roasts America on Comedy.

Absolutely filthy, and absolutely hilarious. If you get a chance, watch it and laugh yourself silly.

Hard to be perfect. Hamilton's liner was almost caught, and Conger simply hit a 99 mph fastball that was up in the strike zone. Sometimes, you just gotta tip your cap. Henderson got beat with his best pitch, and it barely stayed fair.

I realize there's strategy involved in if you're playing the OF deep or shallow, but that said, I've always been a fan of playing the percentages. Keith Hernandez once said he hated protecting the line late in the game against guys who never hit it down the line, and I agree. Gindl was playing so deep he was on the warning track, and I get it, trying to cut down the gaps, but that's too deep for anyone except maybe Barry Bonds in 2001.

Play the math. If a guy usually hits it to section A7, cover A7 regardless of the situation.

Simply put, this entire crew is just calling it in. The batter hadn't moved yet, and no one wanted to bother getting it right. Complete lack of effort.

Jim Joyce's crew...heh. How does that buffoon still have a job? He doesn't have an ounce of sense in his noggin.

The absolute worst in all of sports. Simply horrendous.

The sad thing is, if any of these idiots ever accept bribes, we'll never know...they are almost never right now.

What does the old media say that's not in the tank for Obama?

100% true, of course. Remember, he thinks this foreign policy stuff is beneath him, as he's busy with his government takeover of the US free market.

You know, right now one of the most popular television shows in America is “Duck Dynasty.” (applause) Now I’m told President Obama’s never watched the show. And apparently an aide recently came into the Oval Office to try and explain it to him.
He said, “Mr. President, it’s all about this Southern, God-fearing family of entrepreneurs who love liberty and love to hunt.”
Obama responded, “So, is it a fantasy show?"
And his response was, “No Mr. President, it’s more like a horror film.”
And so the president immediately ordered an IRS audit.--Ted Cruz

If Blazek is the PTBNL, have to see if he joins MIL in September, if nothing else, to work with Tunnell and Kranitz, and get their opinion on whether he deserves a spot on the 40, which has about 45 contenders.

I wonder if Rogers was removed to clear a spot on the 40, or just for financial reasons (not sure if Rogers has a "split" deal or not), or, as I said, to give him a chance to be picked up a month early.

I was wondering if the Crew might add another OF with Aoki beat up, but they do have Davis, Gomez, Gindl, and Schafer (though Logan is not 100% either). Time will tell.

8/31/2013 06:49:00 PM

(8/31/2013 06:34:00 PM) - Al

Mark Rogers taken off 40 man roster, will not be called up. Rogers is healthy and touched 93 mph in last start for Brevard County, but results have been so-so. Wasn't considered for a Sept.

Ash says door is open to him returning on a minor league contract. So sad after finally proving what he can do last season, he had yet another wasted, injury filled campaign. If he stays healthy, he has a future, noi doubt.

What does this mean short term? Another 40 man spot open (that's at least two, and they could easily have another if they put Weeks on the 60 day DL, so they have room to add guys like Nelson and others if they want to take a look at them.

I would assume this was done as a favor to Mark, as if the Crew was not going to bring him up, they gave every team a chance to claim him and give him some major league time in September.

8/31/2013 06:34:00 PM

(8/31/2013 06:19:00 PM) - Al

If Blazek is indeed the PTBNL, we should all bow down and kiss Doug's ring, as he had success in AA and AAA, and averaged 95+ mph on his fastball in his limited time in the bigs. Like many hard throwers, he has had control issues, but for the most part, you can't teach velocity.

A live arm like that for a month of Axford is a stupendous haul.

8/31/2013 06:19:00 PM

(8/31/2013 03:47:00 PM) - Al

Ramirez or Aoki getting any phone calls tonight?

It doesn't seem like it, but Aramis has a 799 OPS for the season, and a 884 OPS since returning. He also seems healthy, playing all nine innings most every night. The Crew would have to pay some of his salary next year, but considering how weak 3B is, he'd be a huge upgrade for most clubs.

8/31/2013 01:55:00 PM

(8/31/2013 01:52:00 PM) - Al

Packers don't have any concern about backup QB spot, apparently don't think Rodgers could ever miss much time.

While on the subject of the NFL, I admit, I feel bad for Tim Tebow, who certainly is not a star, but has won whenever given the chance. At least some of the reason for him struggling to catch on is he isn't good enough to justify the old media circus that accompanies him.

8/31/2013 01:52:00 PM

(8/31/2013 01:46:00 PM) - Al

Morneau to Pirates for middling prospect.

While I would like to scoff at a 1B with a 741 OPS, but he does have a 831 OPS versus RHP, but the Twins weren't intelligent enough to platoon him.

For comparison sakes, Francisco is hitting 793 OPS vs. RHP.

Consider the irony as we draw close to the one-year anniversary of the Benghazi attack. President Obama says the use of chemical weapons in Syria threatens our national security and we have an obligation to act. In contrast, our US Consulate (sovereign American territory) was attacked in Benghazi, our Ambassador was killed along with Sean Smith and two former Navy SEALS (Ty Woods and Glenn Doherty) and the only indignation shown was over a video. Need I mention the ensuing lies? But where was the obligation to act in response to Benghazi? The events in Syria are horrific to be sure, but to dismiss the attack and loss of American lives in Benghazi is unconscionable.--Allen West

Positive pregnancy tests for sale!

1. Capitalism at its finest. That sound you hear is the left trying to figure out how to tax the crap enhance revenues with this information.

2. I just thought I'd add, I always find the ads for pregnancy tests hilarious, as it's always a young couple, early/mid 20's, and they are hoping for a positive test. First of all, the vast majority of pregnancy tests are purchased by young women who want a negative result, and secondly, all you have to do to add some realism is make the couple a bit older, early 30's is fine.

If a player is in the minors for more than 20 total days in a single year, it counts as an option. Anything less and it does not.

Figaro was sent down on August 16th, so he did not use his final option. With a guy on the brink of the 25 man roster, like Alfredo likely will be next March, that option may keep him in the system for needed depth.

I have a lot of training to do in September, in addition to my regular diet of helping people make decisions to protect themselves and their families; so it's probably my last long weekend until Thanksgiving. Sadly, mine began in this manner...I woke up this morning a couple times, and can't recall if I fed the Rambling dog once or twice. I also know I forgot his medicine (once or twice, not so sure).

Why would this surprise anyone?

They ain't in prison for coloring outside the lines or using the wrong fork. Most often, the scumbags released are "non violent offenders" who sell meth and cocaine to anyone with the cash, be it a child or teen. I have often said I don't care if we prosecute drug use or not, as people have the right to make poor decisions. However, distributing is a serious offense.

Cardinals acquire Axford for a PTBNL.

They must feel he is better than what they have, or, like many teams, feel his "stuff" is better than his results and can "fix" him, or put in a better way, can get him back to where he has been as recently as a month or so ago.

Best of luck to John, who has always been a stand up guy and has never blamed anyone but himself for his inconsistency.

The odd thing is, I cannot imagine a guy who could be less projectable...a key cog or left off the playoff roster. If her can find his release point, as he seemed to Tuesday, he could easily give SL a sub 1 ERA for the rest of the campaign.

Heard rumblings that Brewers are working on deal to move one of their relievers. Deadline is Saturday for post-season eligibility.--JS

Tom and the JS are far from ones to dig, so I would assume this is a solid rumor. The only surprise would be if it were for someone other than Gonzalez or Axford.

They could probably get a very solid young player for Henderson (or Kintzler, but they would not have used him for a pair of innings tonight if he were on the trade block), but while he is older, he is under team control for five seasons.

Of course, Axford has struggled of late (he did pitch well Wednesday), and Gonzalez has only been fair (that said, the eye test tells me he's got LH hitters out, meaning he'd be fine as a loogy). Either could be had for nearly nothing.

We are reportedly considering an attack on Syria that is just strong enough to avoid getting ridiculed. This is embarrassing.--Ken Gardner

Obama is one of these new world, fancy britches guys who think you can fight a war without boots on the ground. Drop a few bombs and shoot a few missiles into "strategic military areas" and it's quick and easy.

Except for one thing...that doesn't work. W's only strategy in Iraq was to kill and eliminate the enemy, and years later, they are still just a bunch of rock throwing cells. Obama's only strategy in Afghanistan has been to pretend it didn't exist, inform the enemy of your strategy, and ignore the generals requests for the forces necessary to, you know, win.

I don't know enough about Syria to tell you what I would do, but:

1. I doubt Obama knows an iota more than I do.

2. I guarantee you I would have the best long term interests of the country in mind...'nuff said.

Bucks get Caron Butler for Slava and Ish Smith, per reports. Goodness, a steal if Butler is healthy, and his deal expires after '13-'14. His expiring contract alone was worth that, never mind he contributed 10 points a game in 24 minutes last season.

Supposedly, the Suns dealt him because Butler wanted to "go home" where he does his charitable work, and Phoenix, though they liked him, let him go.

With the addition of Butler's 128 made 3's last season, the Bucks now easily have the most 3 point FG's last year on next year's roster, a fact that has gone overlooked by every single "expert" and "insider."

As for who is going to the Suns, some combo of 2nd round picks, Epke Udoh, and Slava Kravtsov is expected. They have 16 guaranteed contracts, so Butler would make 17. I would assume they will send a pair of players.

Some are curious who the Crew will call up when rosters expand to 40. Many of the additions are simple...Hellweg has been discussed often, and Hand/Figaro will likely return. Mark Rogers is finishing a rehab stint, so you would think he would get into a few games, if he is healthy. Barring trades, injuries, and shut downs, I would not think they would bring up many other arms. If he's going to start, Jimmy Nelson will be added as well.

Others? They usually like to add a 3rd catcher, and Blake Lalli is still on the 40, of course, not sure if a couple PA's is worth $100K in salary and various costs. Other than that, I think Sean Halton will be considered. Anyone else? Shoot me an email, addy is on the sidebar.

One source close to talks tells ESPN that Caron Butler has been informed that he will indeed wind up with Bucks. Teams hashing out

MIL is just about the only team with cap room, so all the rest is up to the lawyers.

Others will disagree, but I think the Bucks are an improved team with lots of depth, and plenty of cash coming off the books after the season. Kudos to John Hammond.

Bucks still looking, talking about Caron Butler, who is a Racine native, and, perhaps most importantly, is a free agent after the upcoming season.

He's what they call "an expiring contract" in the business, meaning even though he's mediocre, he has a lot of value, because after 2013-14, he'll just go away.

I had to drive to the dog haircut place today (they missed a couple of his toenails, one of which was so long, it was a circle, that got caught on his outside cable last night), then since it was 92 and humid (the heat index today was "camel dying of thirst"), I had to drive home and drop off the Rambling dog, since we were shopping for an hour or so, buying stuff I was told that was needed, like sunscreen, children's vitamins, Aleve, and other merch I never purchased back when I was single, a time period I refer to as "the Rockefeller years."

So, I drove with my left arm out the window for about 45-60 minutes, and tonight, it's all itchy. I think I have looked it up previously and it is called "sun rash"...I get tiny bumps, almost like a rash, and it's really uncomfortable. It would go away after a few days if I ever got tan, but I don't. Mine isn't as noticeable the pic at the link, and it is related to the fact I don't tan in a couple spots (my left elbow being one).

Ordered two things for the Rambling dog...last Friday, I ordered something from Rhinelander, literally an hour away from us. Saturday, I ordered something from California for him.

I will admit that Foster and Smith had to wait for my vet to fax them a scrip (because, as we all know, other wise there would be dog pain medication sold on every corner; thank goodness for government over regulation), but, I still think if California wins, it will be a remarkable upset.

The Pirates are this year's Orioles, better to be lucky than good. Five more wins than they "should have," and the breaks they get...Aoki doesn't make a relatively routine play, afraid that Gomez is going to run into him, as Carlos stood ten feet away; a hop several feet over Yuni's head on a routine ground goodness.

They have a solid pitching staff and had a stellar bullpen until Grilli went down. I don't think they have much depth, but they haven't needed any. Good health is a nice bonus, of course.

Look at it another 26 starts this year, Harvey threw 110 pitches or more eight times, and over 120 twice.

Why do those numbers seem so high to me?

Thus far in 2013, the Brewers have played 130 games...their SP's have thrown 110 pitches four times, and have yet to have anyone hit 120.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson confirmed Monday afternoon that Matt Harvey has a partial UCL tear in his right elbow.

The diagnosis was made after Harvey was examined for forearm tenderness. The Mets haven't ruled out the possibility of Tommy John surgery, though they plan to wait a little while until the swelling subsides. Still, rehabbing this sort of injury rarely works. It's very possible that Harvey won't pitch again in the majors until 2015, which is frustrating news for the franchise.--Rotoworld
Harvey threw 110+ pitches eight times this season for a team no one expects to contend. We'll never know what exactly caused his injury, but the one game I saw him pitch this year, the team was behind, he was over 100 pitches, and they left him out there to not only finish that inning, but brought him back out for the next one.

Guys get hurt even when on strict, low pitch counts. However, they get hurt a lot more with heavy work and higher counts. Why did the Mets feel the need to have him throw 121 pitches twice?

Hard to believe the Rays, who platoon and mix/match as much as any club on a regular basis, couldn't find a home for a lefty masher who can play 2B/OF.

Bourgeois might be a decent fit again at some point in MIL, platooning with Scooter, especially if they only go with Schafer as the 4th OF. Jason is a poor man's Jerry Hairston Jr, having played everywhere except 1B/C in the minors, and he has other plus skills (versatile, hits LHP, runs great). For whatever reason, he just hasn't found a home...his inability to hit RHP is likely at the heart of it. Given Segura is likely to play 150 games, if healthy, again, he might be a nice minor league FA signing with spring training invite.

One blogger with "an inside source" said a while back that he had been told it was TEX who had claimed Lohse. I'm not sure what to make of this, except that, by pure mathematical probability, this "source" should have, you know, managed to provide at least one bit of information that wasn't later proven false.

Last 30 days, best OPS in Khris Davis, Scooter Gennett are 1-2.--Joe Block

They are not as good as they have looked of late. That said, they can both hit.

Davis can do everything except throw. If he is able to keep it up for the rest of the season, probably playing most of the time in LF, it will be interesting to see if Doug and the braintrust look at him as a possible RF, if Aoki is dealt, or if they feel he is only suited for LF, if they discuss Braun playing RF.

Khris has a very weak arm, and there's no doubt he would be regularly 1B-3B'd if he were to play RF nightly. The only arm I can compare his to is Juan Pierre's, and despite being a utility OF for much of his career, he has never played an inning in RF.

Before gasoline can be pumped into our cars, it has to be extracted from deep in the ground, which is a dirty, time consuming job...this is, of course, after it is explored for, found and drilled for. Then, it must be transported to the refinery, where distillation, conversion, and alkylation takes place; it is blended to the proper mix depending on painfully anal government standards, like what time of year it is and what state it is going to; then it is distributed to the proper area based on the blend and need. It costs about $3.50 a gallon.

I bought some "eye drops for allergy relief" the other day. It was $3.99 for one half an ounce, which is water with minute amounts of two active ingredients. If you wish to purchase a gallon, it would come to $1021.44.

If you buy a 20 ounce bottle of water for 99 cents, that is $6.40 a gallon. It is available, almost for free, by turning on a faucet.

Yet, I never hear anyone complain about "Big Water" or "Big Eye Drops," only "Big Oil." I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm just wondering if they did their math right.

This looks like a possible Doug pickup...big guy, hard thrower, has had some success in offensive environments (Coors and Colorado Springs), throws strikes, good K and BB/K ratios.

I can't recall if they have a 40 man spot available or not, and finding him a spot on the 25 man might be tough. I'd say he's a younger, higher ceiling version of Figaro.

I have no doubt I'm on the right side when I see what wastes of life reside on the left.

It was a lie, but it was also a frightful overreaction by a group of libs that crave attention and have loads of self importance to justify with such silliness.

Hopefully, they will reimburse the police for wasting their time on such drivel. Also, the old media might want to start reporting the news instead of believing trolls that have a position to sell. Someone wearing a blanket on their head on college property is not news, even if a progressive tries to publicize it.

I have linked and discussed Cassy (Fiano here, she writes under her maiden name and her married name Chesser as well) many times in the past. she gets some nice ink here.

The irony is, down syndrome is a very mild birth defect, and those that are afflicted with it are actually in demand in adoption circles because while some families have the time and money to handle a special needs child, many don't have a handicapable friendly home or the desire to provide such care for 18 years.

I'm sure Sharpton and Jackson will "frown upon" this attack. Of course, they won't, because there's no money in it for 'em. That's why Al Gore refuses to admit every prediction he's made in the last twenty years is incorrect (except, of course, that Tipper would leave him for a better man).

When there's money involved, hacks tend to double and triple down on misinformation and fictional data. Especially when you're not qualified to lick the floor clean.

Jimmy Carter must be rolling over in his grave that he keeps getting compared to him. And just wait until Carter actually dies.

Ben Affleck was chosen to play Batman.

What do I find ironic?

1. Many people have a strong opinion on this, apparently not realizing it's just a movie, any of thousands of actors could play the role.

2. Many of the people who feel this was a poor choice strongly believe anyone gives a ounce of crap how they feel about a multikizillion dollar box office franchise.

Braun releases statement, admits to taking substances, a cream and a lozenge, to help get over a nagging injury in '11. Says he was defensive and tried to convince himself he had done nothing wrong.

Very well written piece, though his team has had weeks to do so.Does not mention the substance, though I assume one is synthetic testosterone. Not to disclose too much here, but I have been on this for a year plus, and while it has taken care of its prescribed purpose, eliminated some pain of an unknown cause, it hasn't made me a better athlete or helped me get over injuries (don't forget, a couple weeks ago I pulled a muscle in my back fastening my belt) any quicker. While it has medical purposes, so does cortisone. Part of me wonders if Braun simply could have obtained a prescription, this mess could have been avoided. If they allow Ritalin for ADHD and ADD in 30+ year olds, I would think they should allow fake testosterone for a couple weeks.

I don't want to come off as "pro drug" here, but the tests I've seen show very little correlation between production and pharmaceuticals. Most all the "help" is simple helping the body recover and get back to full strength, or close to full strength.

Jordan Shea of Lodi committed to D1 UM-Lowell today. Shea was almost always the best player on the court last state tourney, except when they were playing Bronson Koenig's team.

Shea's decision interests me, for a couple reasons. One, is it is apparently his first D1 offer, so he jumped at it. I can't blame him. He may have no interest in staying close to home, and he may be making this for educational reasons. Good luck to him.

However, Lowell is almost like a D1.5 team, as they have been a D2, and are making the transition through the NCAA's hoops and obstacle course, so they are unable to play in the NCAA tourney until '18. Of course, they will play D1 teams for the most part, and many players' teams are eligible and never make the NCAA tourney either.

Roast in the slow cooker. I wonder if it's any warmer in there than it is outside...

I have had a disappointing couple days, my battery died on my car (luckily, our neighbor is a handy guy who runs a body shop locally). He diagnosed it as the battery and not the alternator last night, so I took it in today and he switched it out for me (we let it charge about ten minutes, and it was just enough to turn over and start). I sat and stood in his shop for about 30-40 minutes, and my freshly washed T shirt was soaked, front and back, when I arrived home. Of course, I'm all but positive that was the original battery, so 10-11 years of service is not a bad lifespan. I was told once that hot and cold weather drain batteries, so this latest warm spell likely pushed it over the edge.

Of course, the weather is no joking matter if you are forced to work outside. Stay hydrated and take breaks, folks. I saw a woman out pulling weeds or something on my way to the shop, and I almost told her to get inside.

Luckily for her, I realized she has every right to make poor decisions. Mike Bloomberg, I am not.

Who would have guessed that if you pass a law that says you have to provide health care to people that work 30+ hours a week that businesses would step up hiring of those who work less than 30 hours?

Have to see what the Crew does about the two days off (Thurs/Mon), as they almost always skip someone in the rotation, though I guess they don't have to, as several guys can just use an extra day or two off.

Funny to see 38K last night, but only three BP dates left, and obviously, that was the last one before school (and the last $10 voucher chance for the BP crowd). They do have a Friday night in September this year, which should be very popular. BA said the parking lots were loaded with tailgaters, which makes sense, as the BP folks are, as a rule, thrifty.

I realize I'm in the minority, as I grill out a couple times a week at home, but never dream of tailgating, as I suppose that, much like camping, it is a pastime of those who drink. There are exceptions to every rule, but in order to swat bugs and sit out in the sun, it's just not a sober thing to do.

That makes the decision to use Kintzler tonight, after throwing 31 pitches last night, even stranger. I assume Ron is just going game by game, not looking at the tomorrows and what ifs, but if they have a lead in the 7th and 8th tomorrow, your guess is as good as mine. With Thursday off, I would guess they might use Jim for four outs, and Gonzalez would likely face some lefty bats somewhere in the 7th/8th. Axford/Badenhop/Hand/Thornburg would be the others, as I would guess Brandon will not be used.

I would not think that kind of good fortune is sustainable over an entire season, but if you simulate a million seasons, I suppose it is just top 1%. Much like the Orioles winning so many more games than they "should have" last year, things like that tend to balance out over time.

I've been pointing this out, but the left's attempts at rewriting history keeps rearing its ugly head.

As shown, the economy of 1980 was far worse than 2008. Any attempt to say otherwise is either ignorant or dishonest (or, given the coverups we've seen of late, both).

Reagan sparked a quarter century of growth by doing one thing...lowering tax rates for almost every single American. Those that struggle to see why the opposite hasn't worked...well, read an economics textbook and quit embarrassing yourself.

Nationals, 9.5 games out of a wildcard spot and three games under .500, trade for Dave Dejesus.

I'll take "Chasing that 79th win for $1000, Alex."

That's some painful, brutal decision making. The cost, about $1M and a PTBNL (depending on who has to pay his buyout, unless DC decides to keep him for $6.5M in '14), is minimal in the big picture, I suppose, but unless they want him (along with Werth, Span, and Harper) in the OF next year, I see it as pointless.

Trade Span maybe? I think I'm giving them too much credit.

Whenever the government messes with supply and demand, the result is sure to be pain for the and demand works, it always has, and it always will. Some people do not like it because it, you know, limits the government's power, but those that do not embrace the free market are simply bungling their way through life, having failed to learn from history.

As for ethanol, it doesn't work very well, and it takes more oil to make than it saves. This is a product so worthless, it needs the government's push to make the public ignore it's obvious flaws. Subsidies, in any form, simply throw off the curve. They should be eliminated, if not immediately, over the next few years, and be gone by 2020.

After Obamacare blows up and leads to the deficit ballooning even more out of control, we'll need every penny.

Most days, the Rambling wife comes home between 4:45 and 5:30. However, today, she and the Rambling son are in the Dells with her family, and she won't be home until tomorrow evening. Of course, the Rambling dog does not know it is Saturday, or that waterparks exist. So, his first trip over to the top of the stairs just took place, at 4:20.

Gonna be a long, frustrating night for a puzzled old dog.

8/17/2013 04:21:00 PM

(8/17/2013 04:14:00 PM) - Al

It's a smaller audience on weekends, but I'm getting a request or two each day asking about the Rambling dog. We were just discussing last night it is hard to believe we just went to the vet a week ago...he seems 50 times better, no panting unless very excited, sleeps through the night for the most part, and if he does wake up and I let him out (better safe than sorry), he returns back in and is out like a light. The two main differences we've noticed; he seems far more perky and is jumping and moving better than he has in ages...I jokingly told the Rambling wife, "He's running around like a 15 year old," but he is...he's back to being himself. We feel bad for being unaware of his discomfort, but as always, he's never been one to hold a grudge.

We got his haircut Monday and the gal was talking about how she lost her "older" dog earlier this year, as he began having seizures. We realize his days are likely limited, and when the time comes, there may be very little or no warning. We just do what we can to keep pushing that day back a bit. I'm not expecting 17 more years, but 17 months isn't that much to ask, is it?

I put a roast in the slow cooker this morning at 6AM, when the Rambling dog insists it is light enough that it must be time for breakfast. The problem with our roasts from the Rambling inlaws is they always have a bone in the middle, and the one today had a bone the approximate size of a human head. What looks like about three pounds of beef turns into about a pound and a half. Of course, given the quality of beef and the price we pay, I shouldn't be complaining...but I do.

I stopped in at the Evil Empire yesterday, and had to pick up some 100% aloe vera gel for the Rambling dog's "hot spots," and various minor skin ailments common to the older cocker spaniel. Looking for 100% aloe on an entire side of an aisle of lotions, creams, ointments, emollients, and moisturizers is, at best, a needle in a haystack moment.

What made it worse, you ask? The fact is, I was alone in the aisle, except for every minute or so, a woman about my age and her college aged daughter would come in and discuss the pros and cons of skin care products. At some point, as I gazed unendingly for that elusive one product, the same thing would happen...eventually, they would walk in front of me, and the old broad mom would glance quickly at me and mutter a quick "scuse me," while the daughter, wearing the uniform of her age group, a tank top and short shorts, would prove to be unable to "shut it off" even when talking to an old fat guy like myself, would shoot me a seductive glance and whisper, "Pardon me," (emphasis on me) while shooting me a devilish smile as if I was half my age with $20's hanging out of my pants pockets.

Despite looking for a green gel, I finally ran across it, as this brand was clear. I left with my soothing pooch skin coolant and the knowledge that if you send your son away to college, he doesn't stand a chance.

Sean Halton on his way to MIL, but Gomez unlikely to be DL'd, is day to day.

I would assume that means a pitcher or Yuni is headed out. My guess would be Thornburg, who was likely headed out when Yo started tomorrow anyway, and Tyler will just start at Nashville until 9/1. (8/15/2013 09:30:00 PM) - Al

Parra was very good for much of '12 for the Crew out of the bullpen, and has a career 3.97 ERA in relief, so I'm not surprised at all he has had success. All he has to do is find consistency.

Goodness, he throws 94 and throws LH. He'll pitch until he's 40 if that continues.

8/15/2013 09:30:00 PM

(8/15/2013 08:41:00 PM) - Al

I was about to say we're probably looking at a Gindl/Davis platoon in LF and a Schafer/Prince platoon in CF, until I realized that'd be replacing Gomez with two players...barring a reduction to 12 pitchers, of course.

Of course, we can hope Carlos will only miss a day or two, but that seems doubtful, given he was unable to continue (probably the best it will feel for days) and that they already scheduled an MRI.

I assume Gindl will return and a soft platoon of sorts will be in place, as Davis has hit well of late versus everyone.

I think they can finish strong, because they are pitching well, and while they do not have Braun and Hart, Francisco/Yuni has been an effective platoon. If Ramirez can be 90% of himself, and they get some production out of the youngsters they run out to LF, I'm sure they can finish nicely.

They've been 32-35 since June 1st, so they can easily be a .500 team. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they have a nice run, as I think their depth is better than most teams, and it won't be long when clubs start shutting down players due to being beat up and SP's for hitting their innings. They might just win 23 the rest of the way, which would have them finish with 75. That would probably be my guess.
