School board insists on fighting losing battle.

That said, I'm also a big believer in the subject matter.

Lies, fibs, and untruths...continued.

Know what? If they lied about this, you can bet the farm they have lied about Benghazi.

Heh.

Dennis Miller always says he leaned left until after 9/11, when the Dems said "We can't do anything to make you safer, but we're going to need more of your money."

I was 7 when Jimmy Carter took over, and spent my teen years watching Ronald Reagan lower taxes while boosting economic growth. It was difficult to ignore what worked and what didn't.

Nothing has changed since.

(10/31/2013 03:30:00 PM) - Al

They can be on my side fighting the bad guys anytime.

As for those who insist we need a bunch of eagle scouts and choir boys, I know for a fact many of the brilliant men who founded the greatest nation in the history of the planet had a bit of rough and daring in them.

We used to ride off to the undiscovered lands of the west not having any idea what they would find past the rivers and mountains. Now, we lie about a health program that costs a jillion dollars and leaves more uninsured than we started with.

10/31/2013 03:30:00 PM

Singapore's population lives longer but spends 1/4 less on healthcare. Why? People pay for services themselves.--John Stossel

What? The free market works? The hell you say.

I guarantee you Singapore doesn't allow punitive damages, the burden of proof being on the medical provider, and all the legal maneuvering the US does, and that the left won't even consider changing...legal firms and unions fund the entire party.

10/31/2013 02:15:00 PM

(10/31/2013 02:00:00 PM) - Al

(10/31/2013 01:46:00 PM) - Al

The strange thing was, why did they put Miller (and Mujica) on the roster if they had no intention of using them? They seem to pride themselves on doing everything a bit strangely.

Badgers lose on Kevon Looney, one of the top ten prospects in the nation, as he chooses UCLA.

Not sure if Bo will go after another body or save the scholly until next season, as they had left several D1 talents go unrecruited and let them go elsewhere as they saved the spot for him.

For Halloween I'm going as a hooker and its oddly the least slutty costume.--Whitney Cummings

Heh. Why women feel the need to dress so inappropriately one day a year is beyond me. Even more bothersome, restaurants and other places of employment seem to not even notice it.

The irony? Hooters' waitstaff is by far the most overdressed on Halloween.

10/31/2013 10:00:00 AM

(10/31/2013 09:00:00 AM) - Al

Record federal revenue...deficit still almost $1T.

1. As I've told you, it's not a revenue problem.

2. There is no income you cannot outspend. The current administration proves that, every single day.

3. Taxes up, check. Spending up, check. According to the left, the economy should be BOOMING! It's not? Go figure.

I know I lack a sense of liking old things that have outlived their usefulness tradition, but I sure wish someone would build a "new Fenway" that allowed for comfy seating, more seating capacity, and on a related note, that would also allow some "bargain" seats (you know, under $40) in the upper reaches for those on a budget. They might well draw 4M if they had a ballpark that held 50K+.

Bucks get 12 minutes, 0 points, and 5 fouls out of Larry Sanders, top two point guards Knight and Ridnour play a total of 2 minutes,  have 24 TO's, and still only lose by 7.

Moral victory in New York.

(10/30/2013 08:21:00 PM) - Al

I know many people think no one could have purposefully designed such a pathetic law, and that this was done to speed up the implementation of a single payer system, which is the true goal of an administration that hates capitalism and has no sense of the historical failures of socialist states.

I think they're underestimating just how far in over its head these hypocrites are.

Just switched over from Criminal Minds to see a replay of the double.

If Molina catches that ball a foot or two deeper, the runner is an easy out. Lucroy does that all the time too.

If rules banning home plate collisions go through, I suppose it won't be possible to do so, so the issue is likely moot.

(10/29/2013 10:45:00 PM) - Al

I just realized I've been giving the Rambling dog a 1/2 tablet of his painkiller twice a day instead of once a day, as prescribed. Considering it is a very strong drug that thins the blood, I'm lucky I did not hurt the little fella.

Tonight, on Little People Big World, they found out their 14 year old dog has cancer. I was expecting to hear that very news when we took the Rambling dog to the vet back in June.

I told the Rambling wife I might have to skip next week's episode. Listening to Matt talk about the love for his friend, how they expected this to happen, but weren't really ready for it to happen now, and how it's going to be awful difficult to say goodbye, I felt like I was watching myself.

10/29/2013 10:45:00 PM

(10/29/2013 09:44:00 PM) - Al

The last thing I did on my old email was to try and send a message to about 20 contacts, informing them of the account deletion...it wouldn't let me, because that is a suspicious activity.

One final kick in the groin.

10/29/2013 09:44:00 PM

(10/29/2013 09:23:00 PM) - Al

The Rambling son has informed me that my Yahoo email is not "being hacked" but is being used by someone/something to "mask" their emails...they are sending out spam to what appears to be one contact a day, and making it appear to have been generated by me.

I'm not sure if there is an answer, as I'm not visiting porn sites, or sites of questionable origin. My password is 18 characters long, and a security website my son uses says it would take a desktop computer "one quadrillion years" to figure out my password, by process of elimination. At this point, my only thought is it's the NSA, and if so, I wish my content was more important.

Well, finally, I guess it is time to admit defeat. I am changing my email on this site to an old one, and deleting my ramblingalb Yahoo account. If you need to get in touch, use the email on the sidebar, but obviously, change the [at] to a @.

(10/29/2013 08:40:00 PM) - Al

Gomez is very good in CF, and has very good defensive metrics in CF.

Adam Jones has terrible metrics in CF, and won another Gold Glove.

Those that see Jones play regularly...what's the deal?

Machado (+31) and Hardy (+6) were solid in their UZR. Jones has been negative each season since '08. Just seems like he's consistently below average. Is it really just the fact he makes some great catches and wins because of that?

10/29/2013 08:40:00 PM

(10/29/2013 07:38:00 PM) - Al

Carlos Gomez wins the Gold Glove.

I admit, I thought there was a 51% chance McCutchen would win because he hit more. Congrats to Carlos, who unlike most Gold Gloves, richly deserved it.

Made my best NFL pick in ages last night. Took SL to beat SEA. The Seahawks were 13-14 point favorites, and I took the Rams not just to cover, but to win.

They didn't, but they had two plays from the one to do so. That's why you can't worry about the short term results. It was a very good pick, but it fell just short.

10/29/2013 04:02:00 PM

(10/29/2013 03:43:00 PM) - Al

I've been saying it wasn't true, and that he's a lying fraud well before 2012...what prize do I win?

1. Hey, I didn't vote for him.

2. What's sad is, this will get absolutely no play, but the entire half hour of each network's nightly news should be reporting, and then repeating this fact.

He's a bad, bad man. He believes in nothing, except that the USA has thrived by pure coincidence and chance. And he somehow feels that by repeating the mistakes made often in the past century is somehow the answer to a socialist utopian state.

First step, health care. Check.

The left loves taxes of all forms, even those that will unfairly punish the poor and middle class.

(10/29/2013 02:04:00 PM) - Al

I can't believe I'm linking to this, as it's so ignorant. However, I will say I see guys picked off to end games every season. While that run "may not mean anything," the runner always wants to get a lengthy lead to possibly beat the throw to 2B on a ground ball deep in the hole at SS, or to get to 2B on a ball in the dirt, to eliminate the force.

Even pretending that a guy getting picked off is rare or unlikely is just trying to create drama where there wasn't any.

NBC did keep this under wraps for three years, until a year after the election.

Pravda did the same.

End of the day, the administration lied, NBC did too, and I'm left to smile, shake my head, and simply remind you:

1. I told you so.

2. I didn't vote for them.

3. Eventually, my party will return us to the free market, capitalism, and the end of ridiculous spending. The rest of you, I'm not sure how you sleep at night.

One-third of the millionaires have disappeared from Maryland tax rolls. In 2008 roughly 3,000 million-dollar income tax returns were filed by the end of April. This year there were 2,000, which the state comptroller's office concedes is a "substantial decline." On those missing returns, the government collects 6.25% of nothing. Instead of the state coffers gaining the extra $106 million the politicians predicted, millionaires paid $100 million less in taxes than they did last year -- even at higher rates.

One paragraph why the left's ideas simply do not work in the real world. People vote with their feet, work less, or fib more. Read the GOP manifesto here, and if you're a liberal, commence weeping. This and stupid spending is why your administration has amassed 41% of the entire debt in five years, while the other 59% took 236 trips around the sun to add up.

It's just math, and the Dems suck at it.

60 Minutes running a story on Benghazi only 13.5 months after four Americans were killed while Hillary and Barack...played politics? Slept?

You mean insurance costs more when the government requires companies to cover everyone and everything?

By the way, remember when covering everyone for less as what we were paying before was the administration's line? Remember...we'll save money through efficiency!

As if the government is more efficient at anything...how's that web site that cost $600M doing?

This is the biggest disaster since 9/11.

Al,

Got home from seeing Bad Grandpa (I missed half the dialogue from people laughing too loudly) and wanted to drop you a line saying how well put your Barney Fife reference is. Nothing I hate more than a touch foul being called with 2 seconds left in basketball. Or a pass interference call on 4th down that you can't even see on replay. What gets me is how many people are saying that's the way the rule is written. The speed limit is 65, and we all know no one gets a ticket for going 66 or 67. Quit being Barney Fife and use some Sheriff Taylor common sense. It's fine to overlook a minor infraction and let the players decide the game. It's very sad to me we're all talking about the call rather than the game winning base hit or HR that would have happened in the 10th or 12th inning.

Matt

Nice to wake up and already have a post written. Excellent points on the speed limit and all the discussion today being about the call and not about the game.

At the end of the day, they need to keep their masks on, shut up, and quit thinking they are the bigger than the game. When you allow guys to be horrible and just keep running them out there, we should not be surprised they continue to be horrible.

I don't care what the dictionary definition is. If the 3B grabs the runner and holds him up, that's obstruction. If the runner is clumsy and falls down, tough.

Jim Joyce just has no common sense. He's like that kid in 3rd grade that reminds the teacher she promised to collect homework after the bus crashed on the way to school. He's the Barney Fife of an incredibly inept group of overpaid buffoons, who love being talked about, when their goal should be invisibility.

He doesn't seem to care that no one gives a damn about Jim Joyce, and he's not there to make history. If his goal is to be known as "that idiot" who takes away perfect games and decides big games by reading the rule book with a magnifying glass on Xmas Eve, he's accomplished his mission.

(10/26/2013 11:09:00 PM) - Al

Jim Joyce is, quite possibly, the most publicity hungry human being in the history of the planet.

He just wants to be the center of attention, every second of every day.

Let the game be decided the right way, you moronic attention seeker. Just when you think they've hit rock bottom...

The Rambling dog is back to his normal self today...pain meds and a 15 minute walk (some google links said he may be bored) seem to have somehow made a difference. Sucks that we can't tell if it was his teeth, or a tummy ache, bad knees, or what; but I guess when your dog is 17, the days of him being pain free and naturally healthy are over.

Millionaire actor calls for redistribution of income and the end of capitalism...ironically, hangs onto his own money with clenched fists.

Funny how they always want to be the exception to the rule. The epitome of selfish hypocrites.

Socialism works great until you run out of other people's money.

A source told Radar: 'ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny McCarthy's work on The View and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth!--Daily Mail

That's because 95% of the public knows believes in modern medicine, and not in the 21st century version of witchcraft and leeches.

Five years ago, Palin was an idiot for even mentioning death panels.

Now, Slate argues for them, Sebelius said she could do nothing to help a transplant patient live, and Reid asked why we'd want to continue treating cancer patients.

I've said it often, but every word Sarah has said has turned out to be true. She's the modern day Nostradamus. If she believed in taxing the successful far more than others, and in killing a child born after a late term abortion gone bad, the left would already be chipping rock on Rushmore for her likeness.

A couple months ago, the GOP said the USA should not go to war with Syria. The Dems vehemently disagreed.

A couple weeks ago, the GOP said the USA should delay the individual mandate that comes with the disastrous Obamacare rollout. The Dems vehemently disagreed.

But, of course, in both cases, polls were taken, the political breezes changed, and, since the administration doesn't actually have any actual beliefs, except to take away the freedoms that have made the USA the wealthiest nation the world has ever known.

This is the stuff sitcoms are made of. But it is not funny when it's real life.

I'm all for cancer research, I just wish it wasn't accompanied by men looking ridiculous.

There's nothing wrong with facial hair, but a mustache without a beard has never been a good look, and it never will be.

Notice how ladies have October pegged for breast cancer (and I should mention that men suffer from that ailment as well) research, but do not feel the need to look goofy to promote their cause.

The Rambling son and I went to Gravity 3D tonight, as the Rambling wife is at some complain about your husband scrapbooking get together. We ate our weight in popcorn and the Rambling son spent the entire drive home telling me how unrealistic it was.

My only thoughts? Sandra Bullock, despite minimal make up and being several years my senior, still quite a looker.

If I dislike something, I won't bother supporting it.

If a liberal dislikes something, they try to legislate it out of existence.

(10/25/2013 09:03:00 PM) - Al

Ratings aren't bad at all for the Series, there's just more choices. The top rated shows simply garner fewer viewers than in years past.

The only real exception to this is the Super Bowl, which is a single event and is more of a cultural happening.

Bad few days for the Rambling dog. Back on the meds, after seemingly having no problems at all for a couple months. Not sure if there's ongoing, major stuff going on internally, if he's "uncomfortable," or if he's going plum bonkers. If you google his symptoms, it comes up nausea, tooth pain, or senility.

Sadly, he might be suffering from all three.

When that Target ad comes on about "people finally getting together," I am reminded why I hate people so.

I wouldn't allow any of those self important fools in my home in they were on fire and I was holding an extinguisher that was about to expire.

I admit, I can't help but think of them sitting there, and thinking, "Man, that Al is sitting home watching a Boy Meets World marathon and taking a nap. He is one lucky fella."

Have a good weekend. For those of you that actually join us on Sat/Sun, I hope you know, it's all done by interns.

Don't worry, everything will be perfect once Obamacare gets started.

What? An unintended consequence? And the administration didn't see it coming, you say?

The story here isn't that Hannity is classy (though he is), it's that no one seems the least bit troubled the lady got fired for answering questions about Obamacare, which was her job. Apparently, the operators have been given a list of conservative talk hosts and told not to talk to them...you see, the administration has never imagined that someone could use a fake name...

Almost sounds like something that would have happened in the USSR, doesn't it?

The Rambling son is off school today, so after my appointments, we're going to take in a matinee of Gravity 3D.

Getting some feedback that Sanchez is a better prospect than I'm giving him credit for. He walked more in AAA than Wooten, struck out fewer, and is 26. I don't think Wooten is anything more than a middle reliever, so I certainly don't think Sanchez is.

Granted, some guys improve as time goes by...Jim Henderson found 3-4 mph at 29, and Kintzler was "just a middle reliever" until finding something in mid 2013.

Watching SVU and DVRing Criminal Minds, as per usual. Twitter made it sound like the Red Sox were ahead 22-0, but it's only 5-0. Yes folks, sometimes good pitchers do not have excellent stuff every time out. Wainwright has thrown 265 innings as well...he might well be on fumes, even with extra rest.

Is it possible this Army soldier is lying? Or is the government just anti Christian and anti fiscal conservatives?

What's really sad to me is we never had to ask these questions in prior administrations. We never had FBI scandals either. Or NSA scandals. Or IRS scandals. How's that Obamacare website that cost $600M doing?

Just coincidence, I'm sure.

A real estate investor showed up at my door, unannounced. I answered it. He said I want to buy your home, knock it down, and build two new luxury houses here. I told him I'm sorry, but it's not for sale. He said how about I give you this much. I looked at it and told him, "Like I said, we'd be thrilled to sell you our home."--Joel Osteen

ESPN experts have the Bucks in the playoffs or just missing them.

I've said it before, but I like this year's version better than last year's. If healthy, I could see them winning 45 games, but given they are starting out beat out, I'll predict 40.

A couple is on Katie Couric telling how they were "lost" and "stranded" in a state park in Texas and were found "near death"...they were gone less than five days total.

Drama much? They were in less danger than a guy walking alone in an urban area after dark. If they would have packed decently or had a clue how to survive in nature, they would have been on a simple camping/hiking trip.

Not only does Lincecum not have a 4.03 ERA the past three seasons, while pitching half his games in a pitcher's park...he hasn't even managed that the past two years, including one season over 5.

So, if he's worth $17.5M per year going forward...what's a consistent 3.50 ERA guy worth? $25M?

That has to be nominated for the worst signing of recent times...the only thing saving it is the fact it's only for two seasons.

10/23/2013 02:22:00 PM

(10/23/2013 02:15:00 PM) - Al

MLBTR talks about a pair of FA's today...Shin Soo Choo and Carlos Beltran. Ironically, two of the worst defensive players in the game, and, notice that, both made the playoffs.

SL being such a solid team despite being 50 runs below average defensively is probably enough to make a lot of people wonder about those metrics...I'm on record as saying I think they are high on both positives and negatives, as they try too hard to be relevant.

I have little doubt Carlos Gomez is the best CF I've ever seen play, but saying he was worth 30 runs seems a bit much...especially when Logan Schafer, also a solid defender, can step in and seemingly cover as much ground.

CA residents just wish that high speed rail would go away. Wait until the feds build it and leave them with all the upkeep.

Too bad they don't have a leader who has common sense and foresight. The left, despite massive evidence to the contrary, still believes more spending is better.

That's why they're broke, clueless, and when faced with massive deficits, are left only to blame the right, who is such a minority as to be inconsequential.

The family walked in a 5K for Peyton's Promise this morning, not because we like to walk, but because I'm a business sponsor of the organization.

The suggested donation was a jar of peanut butter, so thr three of us donated six jars of peanut butter and three squeeze bottles of jelly, because:

1. We never just do the bare minimum.

2. Considering I got it at the Evil Empire, I probably paid less for that that many would have for three jars of PB.

It was just an all around victory for the free market. I also assisted a local news crew (of one) carry their stuff to the car...and, of course, it had nothing to do with the fact she was really, really attractive.

Nothing.

Gomez has loose bodies removed from his elbow.

I have to wonder if this bothered his swing in the second half, or if the scouting reports just caught up to him. Given his defense and speed, he is one of the few guys in the game who is worth $7-8M even if he struggles at the plate.

1. The Hydroxycut gal is gorgeous in her "before" shots. I'd tell her to have a burger and quit stressing. If you ain't happy with that, you ain't never going to be happy.

2. KMart is giving people 5% off any toy if you put it on layaway, but it's full price if you buy it and take it home.

This is why KMart went bankrupt...twice.

Grambling players quit due to long bus rides and shoddy facilities.

Doesn't say a whole lot about the younger generation being a spoiled, entitled group. Many guys would run through a wall for a $10K a year education for free...we know this because the military signs up oodles of young men and women every year because of the GI Bill and other college incentives.

I have little doubt they were lied to and the like...all athletes are given a bit of an exaggerated view. However, when the solution is to ride out the semester, give 100%, and then simply transfer to another college, their actions are, at best, weak.

Which team will beat its over/under line by the most wins?

Mahoney: Bucks at 29 winsThis strikes me as a rather dismal projection for a team that should be on the playoff bubble in the East. Milwaukee isn’t that good, but 29 wins is the territory of last year’s Pistons or John Wall-deprived Wizards. The Bucks will be a fair bit better than that, and, correspondingly, the Cavaliers and Pistons might be a few wins short of their projection (40 wins apiece). I don’t see an 11-game divide between the Bucks and those other fringe playoff contenders, or a strong argument for why Milwaukee would drop nine victories from last season.

Losing Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings, Mike Dunleavy and J.J. Redick will undoubtedly come at a price, most readily seen in the clamming up of the Bucks’ offense. But there could be gains on the other end of the floor, as replacing the vomit-worthy collective defense of Ellis and Jennings should make things far easier on Larry Sanders. Considering that Milwaukee ranked just outside the top 10 in points allowed per possession last season despite Sanders’ undue burden, the Bucks should be able to rely on team defensive success while their own scoring comes and goes. To me, that’s a 30-something-win team, a bit closer to respectability than is represented in this line.

I feel the same way, though this early run of injuries is making me a bit wary. I think this team is as good as last year's, far better defensively, and many players are either entering their prime or trying to do well to get a huge contract next time.

Castellanos has hit like a fiend in AAA the past two years. He did not hit at all on the road, or versus LHP in '13, but was superb versus both in '12. He won't clear waivers.

He'd be a guy to consider if they plan to deal Aoki.

EDIT: Just looked up to see if he had played CF, as he's worth a lot more if he can play all three spots, rather than just LF/RF. Turns out, he has played 1B/2B/3B as well. I hope the Crew finds a spot for him, if nothing else, just to see if they can sign him as a minor league FA or slip him through to AAA later. He'd be a nice guy to have in reserve for depth purposes.

Never gave this much thought, but who does the Triple A manager report too? GM? Asst. GM? MLB manager?  I doubt it is the big club manager, since they are not the ones communicating all the players moves.  Regardless, do you think all three minor league levels employ the same philosophies and strategies as the Front Office?  The big shift for pull hitter and squeeze play for example?  Or do they manage like the want with the goal on developing players 1st and wins 2nd?

You can take the even deeper. Are the daily scouting reports delivered in the same layout and fashion?  It would makes sense for this to happen to make the transition to Milwaukee for a day, week or month easier.

Thanks!

Eric

Well, in a way, everyone reports to Doug, as he's in charge of baseball operations. I'm not sure if the minor league managers report to the farm director or who they report to, in a direct manner.

As for the rest of it...no. They can manage however they want. They do tend to be aggressive in the minors, as they want everyone to learn how to steal bases, hit and run, and so on. Scouting reports are minimal, as there is no advance scouts, and very few games are televised. Most of the "scouting" would be hearsay and rumor. Also, I'd say no one sees enough of anyone to do the exaggerated shifts, maybe a step or two is probably about it. In AAA, they probably have enough vets to know them somewhat, but most of it is weak, or nonexistent.

I'd say about 80-90% of a minor league staff's job is to stay positive, teach players basics, keep them out of trouble, and fill out the daily reports. They watch pitch counts like science, and no one ever goes over them. Relievers rarely pitch consecutive days either. Despite claims to the contrary, wins and losses mean little...they try and win, of course, but not at the risk of going over a pitch count.

Often, if a player is waived or released, the staff will be asked their opinion of that player, to see if that player is worth signing, as often, only a scout or two will have filed a report on said player. There are limited stats available, and to be blunt, no one is released is hitting .400 anyway. Players are often signed on a single "he looked very athletic" or "good velocity, just all over the place."

Obama never turns down a chance to let the military and their families know he realizes they do not like him, and he, in turn, despises them for their lack of adoration.

He's a bad, bad man. He doesn't believe in the principles that made the USA the wealthiest nation in the history of the planet, and instead chooses to follow ideas that have failed over and over.

Those that do not learn from history are bound to repeat them.

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.--Ronald Reagan

They now own 1/6th of it, and, you'll be shocked to know, the first two weeks has been a total failure...despite spending seven times as much to build the web site as was budgeted.

If you think you hate it now, wait until you drive it.

Thomas said that the American people would never knowingly vote for socialism; but under the guise of liberalism, they would adopt every fragment of the socialist platform until one day America would be Socialist without knowing how it came about.

While some have said how tough the Crew has it next year, with three solid teams in their division (and they may well be correct), I'm far more concerned about long term with the Cubs finally using their money and fan base not stupidly. Theo has everything he needs to have a 5-7 year success cycle, and while it's unlikely to begin in 2014, when it does, it may be a very powerful stretch.

Friend of Ramblings Jason wonder if this article could be slanted any more to the left...

I'd say yes, and notice the contempt in which every Dem has for lower taxes. They just despise the fact Walker has done exactly what he said he would do. All it took was to remove the union's platinum benefits and someone to get rid of the rubber stamp of approval Doyle and the Dems had for any spending increase for his entire term.

On the way back from one of the plethora of training meetings I have had of late, the gal I was riding with spoke the truth, "All my friends that work in government root for tax increases...tax increases are just another name for a raise."

Ain't that the truth?

I recall many casuals on the message boards being furious with Gomez's extension...when in reality, he's worth that with just his defense...not to mention had he not signed it, he'd be getting a 5y/$50-70M contract this offseason.

The Wisconsin rally point for the 1M Veteran March is at the Korean War Memorial!

Join me in Plover at the Korean Veterans Memorial, Sunday, 10/13, at 9AM. For those unable to get to DC to protest the anti American, spiteful shutdowns of open air memorials by this administration, meet up in the center of the state Sunday at 9AM. I'll be there, and if the weather's nice, I might just bring the Rambling dog with me.

It is right off I39, I believe the exit number is 153, but there are signs both ways.

EDIT: Emails asking if I will be wearing Brewers' paraphernalia...I will be wearing a shirt and tie, as I do not have a uniform, as I never served. Look for the pudgy guy who looks older than he is.

(10/10/2013 07:24:00 PM) - Al

Just realized 10/15 is creeping up, so I better make sure we don't owe any money in taxes. We always file for an extension, just because I can. Years we owed money, this was really stupid, because then we also owed interest, but the amount is so tiny, it's not even worth mentioning (of course, when you get a refund, we shouldn't let them have our money interest free either, but if you take a gander at what the credit union is paying, suffice it to say, I don't lose sleep over it).

I figured it out on three "estimators," and 2 of the 3 said we'd get some back, while the 3rd said we would have to pay in. Finally, dreading Turbotax more than you can imagine (I have five W2's myself, including my temps), I double checked the one...I had forgot to change the box that said "single" and even worse, I had forgot to enter my income tax paid except for the Rambling wife's...now that all three have us getting money back, I put the forms back in the folder, chuckled softly, and put them aside for another day.

And yes, I am 110% in favor of the Fair Tax. Anyone that's not is part of the problem.

Just announced $100 million property tax cut plan that will lower taxes on median-valued home in WI for 3rd year in a row!--Governor Walker

That makes three years total, out of the last dozen. He just gets it. Fiscal responsibility isn't that difficult, you just have to be intelligent and not have unions be your money laundering machine and give them everything they want.

And you know what? People still ain't starving in the streets. All that is just liberal bellyaching. All the left has done is pass on the bill to my son's generation, and beyond. It's a damn shame folks are so selfish as to allow it.

As of now, the pricetag is $640M...and it doesn't work.

That's why government estimates and the like are meaningless. They lie and underestimate in order to get stuff passed. That's why Medicare and Social Security will be bankrupt in a few years, and attempts to redo them have been ignored by the Dems, as they only know "kick the can down the road."

Capitalism and a vaccine will save millions from malaria.

Incredibly, the no vaccines and socialist health care factions failed to accomplish anything, once again.

Jenny McCarthy said "to be on the fence," worries one kid out out of thousands may develop minor rash, and claims to have cured cancer in her own child by "rubbing dirt on it."

I keep telling them, a more positive message; with humor, a shorter service with modern, uptempo songs (not the hymns with six verses, my feet hurt just thinking of them), and as Glenn points out, less man bashing (actually, I would say people bashing, as both genders are often are made to be villains).  As I have pointed out, most church services are almost identical to one from the 70's...they refuse to change.

Let's see if I get this straight...spend part of your weekend dressed up, and be told why you suck. Oh, and they need more cash...they are always under budget/behind last year. It's no wonder attendance has fallen off dramatically.

Negative and boring just does not cut it. As I continually say, watch or DVR Joel Osteen sometime. It's like watching a sitcom with a point. There's a reason millions watch him every week instead of going to their local service. And, despite the fact he never asks, lots of folks send him money.

I would guess the ratings are up almost the same amount of higher population TV markets in the playoffs.

No NY, but TB (13), TEX (5), LA (2), BOS (7), DET (11), ATL (8), and OAK/SF (6) are all in the top 15 markets, and SL always draws more viewers than you'd think because of their regional/historical fan base. Add to it PIT's history as a sports town and the Steelers having a rare off year, the only thing better for ratings would be a Big Apple team and the Cubs replacing the Tribe and another club.

I'm beginning to think that those that say sending your kid to public school is a form of child abuse aren't too far from the truth.
