"Worn out?"

Sounds like a problem someone in a warm house, on a comfy chair, with a full belly would have.

Meanwhile, in the Sudan, a woman will leave her 3 kids and walk 7 miles to a muddy watering hole and return with enough bacteria ridden water to last 24 hours.

Somehow, I bet she would love to be "worn out" by watching lots of political ads, at least half of which I find to be not just true, but hilarious.

I think it's a darn shame your kid is allergic to certain candy.

That said, I'm so sick of these "causes" that effect very few, but we hear about nonstop for weeks. Back when I was little, the big thing was making sure you threw out all the candy that was homemade or not factory sealed, because "kids were being poisoned or razor blades were in there." Turns out, there has never been a single incident of a child ever dying from eating bad candy they got trick or treating. None. Ever.

The old media loves to make up news rather than report it.

Casual Packers' fans, a couple weeks ago: They need to make more trades!

Now: Well, not trades like that!

Any player a team is willing to give up in the middle of a season is not worth any sort of draft pick, unless said player is expensive and team trading him, well, sucks. Casuals always panic. It's why they're casual.

No offense to Kelly, but you could pretty much put any conservative between O'Reilly and Hannity and get 75-80% of her ratings. I used to watch her back when she was on one of their morning shows, and she's certainly not bad, but she ain't no $20M broad either.

10/31/2016 05:00:00 PM

(10/31/2016 04:38:00 PM) - Al

Whether she wins or loses, I think we'll hear "tales of self medication," probably due to a bad back or other chronic, painful condition. I see the way she grabs the stair railing like a man dying of thirst would grab a bottle of water, how the host always is schooled on how to grab her hand when she has to go up or down a step on a talk show.

As one who has had back issues from time to time, I know the signs. I try and hide it too, and am usually successful, most of my clients never know. But I know it when I see it. I knew it before she passed out. When a woman wears 3-4 layers in 95 degree weather, she's either hiding a back brace, another medical device, or suffering from intense cold flashes.

As I've said, she should come out and be truthful. It might humanize her a bit, make her seem more grandmotherly and less reptile like. As Meghan McCain said before the last town hall style debate, "She is just terrible in these situations. She always laughs too loud and too long. She is bad in any situation where, you know, she has to act human."

But if we have learned nothing else, they lie about everything, even the mundane, unimportant stuff. If she wins, one of the first things we'll see is one of the English books setting a "does she finish her term" line, and I would imagine it would be 3 or 4-1 against...this is a old woman who looks old, acts old, and has had some kind of brain injury. Her staff has spoken many times in now public emails about her "needing rest," her fuzzy memory, and having to be protected. Huma herself is said to always share a hotel room with her, in case she awakens and "needs help."

And, Lord knows neither Huma or Hillary ever share a room with their husbands...

The only time Obama has ever been honest is when he ripped Hillary over and over back in 2008.

Since then, his life and legacy is one long white lie...ironically.

Corrupt and unethical behavior usually occurs under a corrupt and unethical leader.

(10/31/2016 03:41:00 PM) - Al

Remember when Michael Jordan said he never commented on politics because "Republicans buy shoes too?"

Amy Schumer is learning the same lesson.

Dennis Miller, and many others, have successfully carved out a career while catering pretty much to only one side of the political spectrum. You could even say that about myself, but of course you'd be forgetting this is neither a "career" to me, and many would argue I am also not "successful."

Other than that, damn near identical.

I have never chosen friends or decided who I like based on politics. I have worked with many Dems for the better part of the last decade. They share many views of mine, but have always pulled the lever for the left, even though they struggle with some of their positions. Schumer is very funny, and the fact she continually refers to herself as ugly and fat is appealing and fun. In fact, many on the left have criticized others for being critical of her looks, even though the vast majority, including myself, have said and continue to say she's gorgeous, even though she does not follow the very skinny "type" that's always thrown in our face.

Think how bad a person you have to be to get fired by CNN. It's like being told by Satan, "Hey, even we have standards."

Rigged system? Yep.

ADDED: Upon reading more into this, it's not difficult to notice one thing...Brazille either resigned or got fired not for sending the emails. It's because she got caught.

Not everyone has a "get out of jail" card like Hillary.

Prefer to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

(10/31/2016 02:57:00 PM) - Al

The strange thing is, Trump is a strange messenger for this. If nothing else, Hillary has shown the system is corrupt, and some are simply above the law, or all but above the law.

Like Jesse Ventura though, it takes a certain degree of celebrity to get the old media to give you any coverage. People wonder why no quiet, well behaved, church going, successful business people get into politics. The answer?

They do. Mitt Romney was one, and when he ran against the anointed one, he became Hitler, a guy who caused the cancer death of one of his employees.

Makes you want to run right out and file papers, doesn't it?

You wouldn't run either if you had to work with Hank Reid every day.

Years ago, the California GOP tried to recruit Dennis Miller to run for a House or Senate spot. Miller later said he considered it, and then realized he would have to not only put up with, but be expected to work alongside and compromise with complete neanderthals like Nancy Pelosi. They've called several times since, and he's never returned a single one.

Whoever Elmore signs with, the Crew or anyone else it will be a minor league contract, as he lacks the youth and upside to garner a 40 man spot.

I like him for what he is, and Counsell realized he hit LHP far better. Correctly placed in AAA while waiting for the inevitable injuries to occur.

And many insist it should be far, far higher.

The irony? You could tax folks 100%, and you still would not come close to balancing the bloated budget.

It's not a revenue problem, it's a spending problem. Cut, cut, cut.

Hillary said to be very upset that the FBI is not releasing all emails, many of which are classified, that she stupidly used an insecure server for and then tried to delete.

I'm not sure if she simply does not understand "classified" or if she doesn't care.

Or, maybe both.

This is rarely mentioned...English speaking, legal Latinos, vote Republican. They are a hard working, very entrepreneurial group. Many start their own businesses, catering to everyone, using their bilingual ability as a plus. Also, they hate those that cross illegally. They cheated, and makes all Latino immigrants look bad.

However, Spanish speaking, often illegals, vote very heavily Democrat, relying on free healthcare, a check once a month...all the comforts of citizenship, but without any of earning it. Remember, what is called poverty in the USA is the lap of luxury in many parts of the world.

For me, it was growing up seeing Carter and Reagan.

One sat in front of a fire telling folks to wear sweaters and shiver. The other cut tax rates, spoke of American exceptionalism, and was as patriotic as any person to ever hold the highest office.

You can't fall down without running into a memorable quote from Reagan. Even his speeches in the 50's and 60's hit the mark and have been shown to be incredibly accurate.

Meanwhile, Carter still makes an appearance every now and then, as if to remind folks he's still lurking; like hemorrhoids, skin fungus, and easily preventable disease among those too ignorant to immunize. He never fails to miss an opportunity to criticize the US for realizing he was in well over his head, which is exactly the behavior you'd expect from someone so overmatched and out of his element.

Don't forget, many men and women take a pay cut to work for the FBI. And like the military, many of them love their country and believe in law and order.

She should have been charged back in July. The reasoning for not doing so, that she was allowed to not follow rules by others above her, like the president and the Department of Defense, was crap and everyone knew it. Corruption often starts at the top. The hell with them.

(10/30/2016 04:02:00 PM) - Al

Again, it's been 48 hours.

Not one word from the left that Hillary, just maybe, should have followed the law.

Not one word that Huma is a complete blithering idiot, much like the Obama administration, was chosen out of loyalty instead of ability.

Full speed ahead. Deny, deny, deny, hope to find a skeleton or two in Comey's closet (despite ripping her apart, his failure to indict had him a hero until now), and, as I have pointed out again and again; bad times brings the left closer together, and terrifies the wimpy right).

Notice how quiet the lily livered "never Trump" folks have been of late? You get the feeling they are finally starting to understand they have been completely fooled by the Hillary folks, and now they hope no one points this out.

They thought they would "take the high road" and have instead been reminded that in politics, if you wanna take the high road, you best not get involved. And their complete lack of a backbone has been made apparent.

I went to a local grocery store to pick up chicken and sides for lunch today, for the Rambling family. I had to wait because they had more chicken in the fryer (I mean, why would they have 8 pieces ready to go on a SUN at noon?). So, having finished my other shopping, I waited about 3-4 minutes standing out of the way near the counter. 3 people wandered by, an elderly couple and their not quite so elderly, but probably 60+ son. They walked to the counter, and the son pointed out the rotisserie chickens, all boxed up and ready to go. She kept shaking her head no. Finally, the lady said, "I want one of those," pointing to the chickens going around and around in the huge cooking device at the rear of the deli. Her son assured her those were the same thing that were in the box. So did the teenage girl in the deli. The woman looked as if they were suggesting she kick a puppy. Having had enough, she turned toward her son and said loudly, "I have to be satisfied with my purchase!"

Her son, who was suffering from pulled eye muscles as I was from rolling them so much, turned and walked away. The woman walked back to the cart, where her hubby was, and the following conversation was said:

Elderly man--That's OK, we just had chicken yesterday, anyway.

Elderly woman--No we didn't!

Remember friends, their votes count just as much as anyone else's, even though they're plum nuts.

36 hours after the latest Clinton scandal broke, I have not seen a single criticism of Hillary, not even any of her idiot, lying assistant with remarkably bad taste in men. Instead, the Dem playbook has been to heap scorn on Comey, for not sweeping these findings under the rug.

Can you imagine how fast holier than thou fools like Chuck Sykes would be running? When you don't stand for anything, it's easy to lose sight of the ultimate goal...winning.

The left simply denies everything. Nothing happened. Ever.

Not much on last night, and after the wife and I cleared out the DVR; I flipped it over to baseball about 9ish. The Tribe had just brought in Andrew Miller, and with the bases loaded, he gave up a line drive to the OF...directly at the RF for the 3rd out.

I have yet to see a single recap that mentions this little fact. If that ball is hit 15 feet in either direction, it probably clears the bases. Better lucky than good.

In the 9th, CLE let the Cubs steal 2B as to not open a hole in the infield. They had brought in Gomes to catch for the first time in the playoffs, I believe. 2-2 count on Baez, Smoltz mentioned a curveball in the dirt. I thought to myself, no way a catcher who has not played in weeks wants to try and block that with the game on the line. I expected 2 fastballs letter high, and if the hitter did not chase, they'd start fresh with the next guy. One is all it took...and it's a lot easier to catch.

Just got my letter today. I live in OK. My premium is rising from $770 to $1220 a month. It was $636 in 2015. Basically doubled in 2 years!--Zack Scott

There's at last a $5K deductible on those plans, so he has to pay at least $19640 before the plan picks up a penny. A few years ago, if he had asked for a major medical plan with a $20K deductible, it would have cost $100-150 a month. But, Obamacare said those plans "were not good enough," so now he's forced to pay $15K a year for something he could have had for $1500 back when W was president. That's $13500 less a month he has to spend on, you know, enjoying his limited time on the planet.

It's almost as if someone should have seen this coming. Hey, I didn't vote for him. Everyone else is so much smarter than me, you know.

And yes, I realize many people think this is all planned by the administration, so they can throw their hands up and say, well we tried, but now we have to go to socialized medicine, and you conservatives, back of the line. However, that would be assuming they are far smarter than they are.

Nothing works like they think it will. They fail to believe in simple supply and demand. The guy who insisted this would work sent an email to his Sec of State's private account under a fake name, and then insisted he knew nothing about it. It's like getting caught cheating on your girlfriend with your's so backward, it'd be laughed at in a Bond movie.

Lost in the wake of Clinton scandal #177 is the fact the attorney general, the top law enforcement officer in the USA, had to plead the 5th because she knows full well the USA paid a $400M ransom to Iran for hostages, and doing so is illegal under the law. Her only choices were to lie under oath (known as the billying in DC), or use the 5th.

What has not been said here is the rest of the administration will have to do the same thing, including the president. January 20th can't come soon enough. They're running out of loyal rubes to take the fall.

Brewers sign dude from indy ball.

Almost certainly a velocity signing, though 7 K's per 9 frames would not indicate that. Maybe a better way of saying it, I bet he throws hard and has one really good pitch that they think he has a chance of being a successful reliever. Probably a rather inexpensive shot in the dark...$5K-$20K would be my guess.

Can't be arrogant on these things, they found Brandon Kintzler like this. Axford had been released by the Yankees and was was trying to find a job in indy ball when the Crew signed him, so you just never know.

My in-laws are diehard liberals, and diehard Cubs fans. I barely knew it until last season, when they were good for the first time.

Needless to say, things have been testy tonight. About 30 minutes ago, I asked if they had any diet pop, as I didn't want to have another beer since I have to drive home. I was told tap water was available out of the faucet. The talk tonight has been of World War 3, moving to Canada, and if the bribes to the FBI were drugs, sex, or cash.

Brewers got 4 of 5 through waivers, first time Wilkins has made it through. Cecchini and Elmore, at the very least, will be minor league FA's.

I believe that puts the 40 man roster at 39. Within a day or two, we;ll see if they made these moves now in order to make a claim, or just because they had to do it eventually.

Obviously, MIL has tried to outright some players to AAA, and Liriano was claimed. He's good, still young, but out of options. I can't recall if the order goes by league in the offseason or not.

I would not have expected him to clear, and he did not.

This could be the straw that puts the camel in traction. I only work a half day on Fridays, as I was leaving today, I stopped by the lunchroom to buy a juice for the drive home. My wing is as lefty as it gets, 75-80% would vote for the Democrat regardless. They all hate Walker because he has proven how easy it is to simply hold the line on spending and taxes just by being a strong conservative leader.

At lunch, what was being Googled? Can you cancel your early vote in Wisconsin? Talk was this could be a good thing if Hillary resigns and Biden or Kaine take over the top spot. The phrases I heard over and over? How could anyone be this stupid? She could have gotten our soldiers killed.

At this point, I'd just settle for some deciding to stay home. I have a "notes" post draft that I add to all the time. I might run it after the election. In it, I have this little nugget I wrote a couple weeks ago:

Another thing no one is talking about, Trump is ahead with independents. While some cast his followers as "deplorables," the fact is, they are an eccentric mix. Many are moderates, many have not voted before, or recently. Many are simply fed up with politics, as if we've learned nothing else in 8 years of Obama, we know they will say anything to get horrible legislation passed. Many just hate Hillary.

The problem with that? Many of them will not vote for other Republicans on the ballot, they will pick and choose, not understanding that those they vote for would fight every single Trump initiative, "just because."

As I point out regularly, the Dems have shown they are far more loyal to a flawed candidate than the GOP. They understand the big picture, while many others look to make a shortsighted protest vote, or simply do not understand how important 4 years can be with court nominees, a pitiful economy, and so on.

The problem is, I assume John Lamb is out of options and will be a minor league free agent if he clears waivers.

Love to sign him as a FA, but hate to use a 40 man spot on him if he has to stick in the bigs all year.

He's just never found any consistency, but lefties often take longer. The Crew has seen him often, and the Reds always seem to have a very quick hook with him. Probably pitching not to lose, and has never got over the hump.

I remember saying at the time...if the old media wasn't covering this, they probably would not even be in any trouble, as the building they "seized" is little more than a shack in the wilderness.

Again, our government has plenty of concerns without worrying about minor, unimportant, pitifully inconsequential stuff. Nothing bores most of us more, and at the very least, makes the feds look like rubes caught up in a political agenda.

Hi Al,
Why are people complaining that the NFL games are boring?  Five of the games were pretty big upsets and I thought the Seattle/Arizona game ended up being a real nail biter for us bettors.  Maybe I just like to watch football.
You had a nice week in picking 9 of the 15 games correctly.  By taking the NY Jets to upset Baltimore and picking both Detroit and Tampa Bay to win it helped to put you into 21st place for the week among the 142 experts.  There were three experts that had 11 correct for the week.  There were only 10 experts that got lucky and picked San Diego to upset Atlanta in Atlanta.
For the year you have been slowly moving towards the top.  You are currently in 27th place with 63 correct.  Mike Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today leads with a total of 69.
The “too tough to call” games are Oakland at Tampa Bay, Detroit at Houston, Arizona at Carolina, and Green Bay at Atlanta.  In the “overwhelming favorites to win” category are Tennessee, New England, Dallas, and Minnesota.  You know one of them will lose but which one?  I wouldn’t put any money on it but I’d love to see Minnesota get beaten by Chicago in the return of Jay Cutler.
Good luck,
Jim R.

I almost picked the Chargers and the Eagles, but I also almost went with the Redskins. I suppose it all evens out. I glanced at the games and I see at least one clear upset, so stay tuned.

I got the Jags tonight.

I've written before about our dishwasher not working as well as it once did. Through internet research, we have discovered many have the same problem...a couple years ago, our government stopped allowing phosphates in detergents, which greatly helped get dishes clean. You can turn your water heater up, clean the filters more, and use the rinse cycle every day to keep the dishes wet instead of waiting 2-3 days (in many cases) to have a full load. All those together help, but do not work as well as the phosphates did.

The Rambling son is off school today and tomorrow, so he's soaking the racks in the tub with bleach, and will then scrub them clean. One of the best hints for cleaning the dishwasher is baking soda and vinegar, and we added lemonade drink mix, which will help it smell pretty, and since this is what we're reduced to in our nanny state.

I would guess the current Series might do as well as any has for years, mostly because the Cubs have so many casual fans and because of their decades of losing, it's kind of a "happening" that they are still playing.

I'll say it will average 18-22M, depending on if it is short (lower ratings) or 6-7 games.

1. The Spurs are always good. They are the Patriots part two.

2. The Bucks almost beat GS twice last year. No one seems to understand that some nights, the 3's just don't go in.

3. The most troubling thing I see? They played Kevin Durant 37 minutes in a blowout loss opening night. That's not just stupid, that's borderline criminal.

Rambling wife reminded me the other day I had to see the dentist and eye doc this calendar year and get glasses/work done before 12/31 in order to "maximize our benefits."

So this morning, I thought of it and called. I looked at my calendar, blew the dust off it, and decided the week of 11/7 would be best. I decided to switch to my wife's dentist, because while I loved my dentist, I was not a fan of the high pressure, "I know your insurance won't cover it, but it's only $1200, and we can set you up on this no interest 3 year payment plan" tactics from the cleaning gals. So, being a first time patient, I called and gave my life history to the woman who answered the phone,

{"I started dating my wife in '94, right after I broke up with another girl. Her name? Is that really necessary?"}

when she said, "OK then...hey, I had a cancellation for this afternoon at 2, how about that?"

Geez, it took me days to make the call. Let's put this thing off a while. We decided on 11/8...what better way to celebrate Election Day than dreading a dental visit?

This is not a tough decision for anyone not in the old media. As I have often pointed out, a guy coming home after working all day trying to keep his business afloat from rising healthcare premiums and ungodly increases in rules and regulations he has to follow is not going to sit down in front of the TV, see cops getting shot and property being vandalized, and think to himself, "Those poor protesters. The lovely ladies of Outnumbered correctly pointing out the president could have easily taken care the CA National Guard bonus "problem" before it ever became one...simply by whipping out his little executive order pen he's so fond of using every time he wants to push something through that the Congress will not pass.

But, he chose not to, because, to quote Lou Dobbs, "he doesn't give a damn" about the military. Given he has had 8 years and has done nothing to quiet that suggestion, it is what it is.

Hard to believe this was allowed to happen in such a polite and civil liberal state. As pointed out, it's likely to be brought up elsewhere at some point as well.

Lots of complaints about last night's "boring" game.

I loved it. I much prefer a defensive battle to a 41-38, whoever has the ball last will win shootout (I hope no one was offended by my violent imagery).

I also much prefer a 2-1 baseball game than a 9-7 "exciting" slugfest. Offense doesn't make something exciting, or we'd all be watching arena football.

Basically, this is just another way the warm and comfy, with a full belly folks try and make their life seem "tough." Whoa is them, having to watch a 6-6 game. Other than the fact the NFL's rules regarding a tie are ancient and ignore a far better option right in front of their face, I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

By the way, how'd that turning down a FG opportunity to go for it work out? It's a trend for the emotional and math ignorant.

As I always said with Kieschnick, his real value would be as a long reliever who does not need a PH. As long as the NL does not have a DH, that is something that does have value, whether it be in a 6-1 game in the 3rd or a 8-2 game in the 6th. Even a guy who can put up a 5 ERA, but save the bullpen, has plenty of value. If the game gets close, they can be replaced with a better option. If not, let them eat innings until they hit their pitch count.

Of course, if he could get to the point that he's a capable major league pitcher, even better. Considering there's only 3-4 arms at the lower levels that can be called "prospects," there's plenty of roster room available for longshots like this.

The Rambling son and I just checked both vehicles for oil usage, and while we were out there, we started up the snow blower, which often needs a new spark plug after sitting half the year...started right up this year.

Suddenly, he bent over and picked up something and carried it over to me. His new watch, about two weeks old, had literally popped off his wrist, as the strap separated from the face. When it landed on the concrete floor, the face then cracked, but that really does not matter, as you can't put attach a new strap anyway.

As I told him, luckily it happened when it was so new, or we'd have to pay for a new one. That's why they call me Positive Pete.

Back from the dead.  Lymes and Mono at the same time is no picnic.
Week 6 started out on Thursday night with San Diego upsetting Denver and was followed up on Sunday with Washington beating Philadelphia and Miami beating Pittsburgh after Ben Roethlisberger was injured.  I’m not sure that Dallas pounding Green Bay was really an upset.
Al, you had a very respectable 10 – 5 week that put you in 23rd place out of 141 experts.  There were 9 of the experts that went 12 – 3.
For the year you are at 54 – 38 and in 34th place.  Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News has bragging rights sitting at 60 – 32.  Some big names down toward the bottom.  Boomer Esiason has 48 correct, Chris Collinsworth has 46, and Michael Irvin has 43.
Which of these heavy favorites will get beat?  Will it be Cincinnati, Atlanta, New England, or Denver?  History indicates maybe two will lose.  Some tough tossup games to pick will be the New York Giants at Los Angeles, Washington at Detroit, Oakland at Jacksonville, Seattle at Arizona, and Tampa Bay at San Francisco.
Jim R.

I had lyme disease with an ulcer. That was far from an enjoyable couple weeks. Hope you are feeling better.

My picks this week, don't forget, there's a London game this week. Not only do you have to set your alarms early, you might have to go to the SAT night worship...or you can skip a week, you damn heathen.

Get used to the heat my friend.

Crazy like a fox.

Is he still an underdog? Yep. But I also think he loves that role. And you know what? Since he went back to "being himself," he's fared far better in the average of the "regular" polls that have Hillary up by 4-8 points; never mind those that have him even or ahead.

Lost in the hoopla and the old media's "the end of the world as we know it" scenario if Trump wins is one simple overwhelmingly favor Trump. Also, so do married women, who see right past the doomsday and see things far more simpler...they know they have a mortgage, bills to pay, and see Trump as a far better option than more of the same.

I think it's safe to say he does not do well with idealists...most of which reside in the fluffy cloud world of the left already. He's not a polite, well mannered fella (neither was Romney when he ran, he was an evil Mormon with "binders of women"). He does not seem the least bit worried about the planet exploding or the ice caps melting (neither do most folks).

I have often discussed that the Dems keep distracting us with "sky is falling" rhetoric while real problems like terrorists and the economy worsening are pushed to the back burner. It's a lot easier to try and convince people you're working hard on a nonexistent problem than a real one.

Every week, I glance at the movies opening. Most weeks, the #1 spot is a no doubter, and much of the interest is how films will hold up, how holdovers will "hold up" from week to week, and so on. However, this week, their is an actual battle for the top spot, between Tyler Perry's Halloween movie and the Tom Cruise Jack Reacher sequel. Most expected JR to win, but thus far, it is getting edged out by Boo!

One of the things that interests me is the estimates always involve lots of math, as well as nearly worthless facts, involving things like how many schools are in session, what segment of the population is attending, and so on. Things I learned this week:

Those that felt the Tyler Perry movie would win the weekend pointed out it only needed to stay even until SUN, as that day, Reacher fans would be home watching the NFL, while many in the black community, especially women, go to the movies on SUN afternoon, after attending church on SUN morning. I had never heard that before, but, I've never worked at a movie theater in a black area before either.

Another bit of info I saw was 88% of the folks seeing Jack Reacher 2 were 25 and older. That struck me as fascinating, but when studied, makes perfect sense. If you're 25+, you probably recall when Tom Cruise was one of the biggest stars in the world...while those under 25+ are likely to think of him as "that Scientology nut."

Nice piece on Isan Diaz.

Stearns has shown a tendency to take a better prospect at a lower level, while Doug always wanted guys in AA/AAA. Of course, the fact is, Melvin's "type" will have far fewer flame outs. But, teams are more likely to trade a solid A ball player than a solid AA/AAA player. Maybe it's related to where the Brewers are at in the success cycle, as the "book" on Stearns is brief.

Diaz struggled early in the season, but rebounded nicely. Some were worried about him, but those that concern themselves with the minutia of every game and tiny samples will always waster their time on pointless endeavors.

You know what else helps with jet lag?

Not being such a damn wimp.

Seriously, at any given moment, there is a special forces unit or three on call. If they are needed, they can be anywhere in the world within 24 hours and fight with the weapons, ammo, and supplies on their back for 48 hours. In theory, 72 hours is plenty of time for backup to be alerted, activated, and get where ever they need to be (unless, of course, the destination is Benghazi, and the order will be to stand down, because Hillary is so damn overqualified, but hence, I digress).

Do you really think special forces uses "jet lag" as an excuse? Take a caffeine pill or two, drink plenty of water, and when you can, catch up on your sleep. And quit pretending crossing a couple time zones is like doing actual labor.

A path to victory for Gary Johnson.

Posting this so you can laugh and laugh and laugh.

The Libertarians' election strategy and Obama's war strategy are one and the same...they never mention winning and have other goals in mind. The Libs have no money to spend and have often said their motivation was to garner enough votes to receive federal money in the future. I like GJ and agree with most of his domestic platform. That said, allowing terror to grow unfettered and ignoring it until it reaches our shores is so stupid it's painful. I said this the other day, but Sarah does it far better and less sucky than myself.

Basically, two polls say Trump and Clinton are close to even, and all the rest say Hillary is way ahead. That said, those two have often been right in the past.

Stephen looks at the math if those are correct...and it still says the electoral college has Clinton with a huge advantage. Remember when Mark Cuban and others said Trump could well win the popular vote but lose the electoral college? Even if he improves a few percentage points, you know, if Hillary passes out again, or another scandal breaks; it still looks like a longshot

I have to imagine the phrase, "You gotta be kidding me," would be said. A lot.

This is directly related to the left's insistence that real problems, like a $20T debt and ignoring all terrorists, are not that big a deal; but the lack of safe spaces and minor changes in weather will lead to the end of the a few decades, of course.

Tapper's criticism is actually funny...Think Progress is fiction, and always has been. No one takes it seriously.

I saw on Facebook tonight some kool aid drinkers that realize Hillary is a criminal, so they insist she is just doing what others have done before her, lots of presidents have deleted emails, and no one cared. Of course, they are just blindly pointing fingers, as it is well known Bill was tech illiterate (which, as it turns out, runs in the family) and only sent 2 emails in his presidency, both as examples with staff. Needless to say, here's only been 2 presidents since, and I do not recall any investigations of W or Obama (most have already forgotten O's insistence he knew nothing about HC's private email, in which he used a pseudonym to communicate with her, proving he hillaryed that little story...he's blameless though, as he is in life).

One of the comments was wonderful, as it said, "You're right, Lincoln was well known for pushing the envelope with his online communication. Luckily, FBI director Booth put him in his place."

The Rambling wife and I DVR The Chew every day, and usually watch it in the early evening. Sometimes we fall behind if she has her activities (as I have mentioned, I'm not much of a people person), but we always catch up.

Meanwhile, The Food Network has a copycat version, called The Kitchen. It's almost unwatchable, five cohosts who all act as if they simply do not understand that the show is supposed to be upbeat, fun, and basically, a fun show about food. This week, the description sounded enjoyable, 5 simple weeknight meals.

I kid you not, you know what one of them was? Putting BBQ sauce, chicken, and cheddar cheese on top of a frozen pizza.

1. Goodness.  You realize, they have a staff that comes up with these ideas.

2. They acted as if this was some sort of life changing idea, all of them, of course, thought it was delicious. But my favorite quote?

You can't get something like this at a pizza place.

No you can't. If you order a BBQ chicken pizza from a pizza place, it would be far, far better. One of the Rambling wife and my favorite treats is a BBQ chicken pizza from Kwik Trip on their extremely thin crust.

While most folks are bemoaning the NFL's ratings drop, I still think it is a combo platter of things; and do not forget, NBC still easily won the night. Almost twice as many watched a game between two generic teams (quick, name 3 players on the Texans or Colts, other than JJ Watt, who is injured) than the Cubs/Dodgers playoff game, two very popular big market franchises.

The Walking Dead had a preview of the season too. That has no interest to me, because I'm not into zombies because they're stupid and childish, but lots of folks are. SUN evening is the most watched night of the week, so every network puts on new stuff; and as I have pointed out until I'm blue in the face, the viewing audience is more fragmented than ever, and it's smaller overall, because younger people watch streaming and online stuff far more than TV (the Rambling son hardly ever watches TV).

Remember when I said it was just a money laundering scheme...Dems give unions successful people's money, unions return it with dues, Dems make it impossible for folks to fire poor performing union workers, ensuring the cycle is never ending.

Money quote:

But no amount of money, it seems, is enough to improve the performance of employees who cannot be fired. In recent years, we’ve learned of mind-numbing incompetence and spirit-sapping malfeasance by federal employees.

In “Fast and Furious,” the ATF sold guns to Mexican drug cartels – then lost track of them with predictable consequences. Homeland Security failed to find 95% of smuggled weapons and explosives in a security test. The EPA accidentally poisoned Colorado’s Animas River with three million gallons of toxic sludge. The Department of Veterans Affairs wasted $6 billion on artwork, furniture, bloated contracts, and employee bonuses, while veterans died waiting for medical treatment. Terrible tales of bungling have similarly tainted the CDC, the GSA, the IRS, the Pentagon, the Department of Justice, and the FBI, and even the Secret Service.

But nobody takes responsibility, nobody pays a price. So when politicians tell us that some of us aren’t paying our “fair share,” and when we find out that we can’t dismiss even grossly incompetent “public servants,” well, that’s when our stomachs start to churn.

But we’ve never even addressed the silent civil war that now engages us: the battle between those who work in the demanding private sector and those whose privilege of regulating and monitoring the rest of us is lucrative and consequence-free.

Read the whole thing.

And ask yourself, why do we keep punishing those that come up with new ideas, create wealth, and, you know, actually do something?

Instead, we keep adding layers of bureaucrats to push pencils and monitor other pencil pushers...because we need to protect our citizenry from innovation and freedom.

The hell you say. I, for one, am shocked.

If only there was someone out there who has mentioned this, over and over.

Most people who cry over "rape culture" have no idea the Rolling Stone article was made up by a no talent hack.

As with climate change, if the facts aren't on your side, just hillary up new ones and act as if you are none the wiser. And then insist those that point out your facts are incorrect are evil bastards.

Hillary hates everyone unless they give her money.

Obama called them all "bitter clingers" because he despised us so. They don't even pretend to like flyover country during the election.

Scout offers his take on Nottingham.

The fact he's 21 and struggled a bit in AA is far from a bad sign. The fact the Crew put him at AA tells me they feel his ceiling is quite high and feel his mental strength is also good.

Folks often forget the minor league games are meaningless, no more important than scrimmages or exhibitions. There is no prize for winning games, as the only reward is to develop major leaguers to contribute to the franchise.

To be honest, the anti hunting brigade is incredibly ignorant, as deer would be a huge problem in our area on the roads and eating farmer's crops if not for hunting.

They are kind of the poster child example of the left...they do not want you to do something that makes perfect sense, simply because they do not like it.

Back when I was in retail, I always argued it would be better for the company to pay more and have fewer hours, because training costs would go down due to less turnover, as fewer associates would leave for a small pay increase.

It looks like I was correct. It also shows the free market does a fine job of setting pay, without the need for a higher minimum wage (and as many would argue, any minimum wage at all).

I guarantee you, no one who suffers from famine is afraid of clowns.

It's a comfortable fear. It's the only kind most Americans know, as even the poor people are overweight...but since that makes them feel bad, they create faux problems. It's a concern only because you are warm, safe, and have a full belly.

It's like the cheerleader who insists her life is a trainwreck because so many guys ask her out.

IRONY ALERT: He's too infatuated with his himself to realize it is extremely easy to order a pizza because of the free market, competition, and capitalism...all the things the IRS and Obamacare lack.

This is what we rubes and bitter clingers refer to as "can't see the forest for the trees."

The Rambling wife and I watched the season premiere of Alaska: The Last Frontier, actually, from 6-10, as they had a highlight show first, and then the 2 hour premiere. DVRing the new Candace Cameron Bure Hallmark movie later in the week. Flipped to the football game during ads.

Went to Twitter about 9:55, found out Cubs/Dodgers game was tonight also. Granted, I don't have a dog in the fight, but I had no ideas they played tonight.

MCW going to CHI for Tony Snell. Several sources are reporting this as a "done deal" though it will not be official until MON (I assume the NBA offices are closed on weekends during the offseason.

Given that the Bucks have 16 guaranteed contracts, could be another player involved as well.

EDIT: Updated from the middle of the night when I put TOR. Either I misread it or the tweet that led me to google it was incorrect.

EDIT 2: Snell was a guy I liked and looked at last offseason, because he's known as a plus defender and a solid 3 point shooter, though he had a bit of an off year in '15-'16. I will miss MCW, because he may have been a below average outside shooter, he was a solid defender, outstanding rebounding point guard, and drew lots of fouls.

It never fails, when a team has a PG that can shoot and score, people say they need a "distributor" or a "pass first, shoot second" guy. When they have the latter, fans bemoan the lack of scoring.

There is not a single redeeming quality in the entire family. And yet the left acts as if they are pure royalty. No one has ever asked Chelsea a single question about her father's behavior, and she's an adult woman in her 30's.

It simply is astounding.

Many teams are removing players from their 40 man rosters, but as of yet, the Brewers have not. Is there a reason to do so early, or wait until later?

The obvious reason to remove players from the 40 is to open up spots in case you wish to claim someone. Most clubs are just outrighting players they are sure will not be grabbed off waivers at this point, as only 1 or 2 of the 50+ have been claimed. The tough decisions will occur later.

There is no right or wrong time to try and sneak a player through waivers, but when in doubt, most teams tend to follow a simple rule...wait as long as possible. Doug Melvin always told the story of deciding to cut a player out of options late in spring training, but they held off, even though the decision had been made. The next day, the starter at that position got hurt during stretching or warm ups, and they kept the player who was out of options, and he went on to have a nice career.

Also, the longer you wait, the more other teams will have limited space on the 40, be it in before the Rule 5 draft or in late March.

Of course, if MIL wants to claim a player, you'll see them clear space in a hurry. I think they still have 44 players on the 40, due to their use of the 60 day DL...which goes away in the offseason, I think a few days after the Series ends. So to claim one player, they would have to remove 5...which would be very easy, because not only do they have several guys like Elmore/Pinto who will not protected (if they like Jake, they will try to sign him to a minor league contract), but they could just DFA any FA's to be, effectively renouncing their rights to them a few weeks early.

EDIT: Some clubs claim a player now just to use it as a way of communicating with a player they want to sign to a minor league deal. Basically, let them know they are liked and wanted, and they might even be able to discuss money quicker that way. The most sought after minor league free agents have their salaries pretty much controlled, but signing bonuses might go as high as $300K for the top few guys, depending on youth and how many teams are after them.

The DBacks no longer have a braintrust have does not know the rules and wants to build with tough, gritty guys.

That's a shame.

If Hazen has any relationship with Ray Montgomery, that would make sense as his assistant, as RM knows ARI's system far better than most.

The better and quicker the Crew's rebuild goes, the more likely it is they will lose Matt Arnold and Montgomery, as well as others like Minasian; as they will be able to get promotions by leaving. If things do not go smoothly, they probably won't.

National title hopes?

I guess it was a mathematical possibility until their 2nd loss, as it is for every Power 5 team, but, seriously? They have several tough games remaining too.

It's like saying my knee injury has prevented me from hitting my goal of a million dollars in sales this year. Technically, I guess it's true, but, it's not like I expected to do that, even when healthy.

It's not a lie, but it's misleading. In the future, we'll refer to it as "to hillary."

Every person's goal should be to become a verb.

She fooled the jury, and was found not guilty of perjury as well. She hillaried herself right out of trouble.

Almost everyone watching the game is seeing it on a 32 inch or larger screen, but the ref that has to make the decision watches it on a tiny little 4 inch monitor.

No wonder they miss so many.

Can anyone name me a group of Americans Hillary has not insulted?

I'll wait.

She is right though. Other than a few Sanders' supporters who are currently picking apples up off the ground because they're free, the left has steadfastly refused to even acknowledge the factual nugget that she is wholly incompetent for any occupation that does not involve making big rocks into tiny rocks.

Me too.

Not only are present cops afraid to defend themselves due to the old media and far left second guessing them because of the race of the criminal being shot, we will likely see many wanna be police officers go into other fields.

Note his comparison of BLM to Occupy. I said that a couple months ago. Glad to see others making the connection. They are pure evil, and so is the old media for ignoring the violence and destruction of property that has accompanied both.

Bad luck for the Bucks and the MACC fund to have their annual preseason game lost in the shuffle with the Badgers/Buckeyes contest tonight.

Not only with they probably have hardly any walkup business, they'll probably have a ton of no shows, which while unimportant for the MACC fund, affects concessions greatly.

Bucks' blogger tweeted out if you are are anti cancer you should go to the game.

As opposed to the huge pro cancer delegation. That pretty much sums up the intelligence of the Bucks' blogosphere.
