The irony here is, they are so sure that they are the vast majority, they fail to see they are losing the battle. The map is red because they ain't nearly as strong or intelligent as they like to believe.
“I’m just going to say it,” tweeted Bridgette. “I hate these people. They are stupid and selfish. Screw them. Lose your jobs, sit home and die.”
Another: “ALL Trump voters are racist and deplorable. They’ll never vote Democratic. We should never pander to the Trumpites. We’re not a party for racists.”
As I have pointed out before, blaming racism on the fact hundreds of counties that supported Obama twice also voted for Trump is, at best, pure folly. They are not only losing the battle of common sense, this makes everything they say ignorant babble. And, blaming Republicans is not seeing the big picture...Trump got 88% of the vote from those that ID as members of the GOP...but Hillary got 89% of the Dems too. This, and most elections, was decided by independents and moderates, a group often referred to as "swing voters." Trump won that group 46-42...and to be honest, probably by a bit more, as the reluctant Trump voter that was silent during the pre election polls may well have been reluctant to voice their vote moments after casting it as well. Let's not forget, most of them assumed they had voted for the eventually loser.
Therefore, future elections hinge on changing the minds of swing voters. If one were to write a way to not go about getting those votes, calling them names and insisting they were horrible, really stupid people would be at the top of the list. The left has allowed their emotions to overcome their senses. Instead of deciding on a consistent message that will reel in many who crossed the party line, something along the lines of, "We did not do a good job of getting our message out there. We have always been for economic growth and lower taxes for the working men and women of this country." Instead, "resist" looks a lot like doing nothing to many. Resist what? Tax cuts? Replacing a health care plan that will die on its own soon anyway?
WI Dems are still recovering from their own "resist" movement of running off to Illinois when they should have been negotiating and throwing out compromise ideas. It's tough to insist you give a damn when you don't show up for work.
