(Obamacare) did not patch the roof. It blew up the building into splinters. You can't glue splinters back together.--Herm Cain
Many are hinting around, but all are afraid to come out and say it. Cain himself today said it nicely...this does not effect most people at all. But he stopped short.
Iaid it many times, if I were king, I would do 3 things:
1. Kill Obamacare.
2. Go back to free market health insurance.
3. Install some sort of "safety net" that gives money to states to design their own plan for those who cannot get coverage. WI had a great one in HIRSP, others should copy it.
Of course, killing something that exists and changed laws, not an easy task. It had to be slowly and in steps.
Again, one thought keeps popping up to me...the GOP continues to insist Obamacare is a disaster. It is. This fall, somewhere between 50 and 150 counties will not have any plans to choose from. The GOP quietly passed a bill a while back allowing "regular" health insurance to be sold in those counties and no penalty for any of those folks. About 45% of the counties in the USA will only have 1 plan to choose from this fall, and it is reminiscent of the USSR's "choices" back in the day that Bernie says was utopian. That's an embarrassing amount, and if Hillary had won, it would be "well, let's transition to single payer."
But, how will 2/3rd's of the counties having 0-2 choices play? That's the million dollar question. The Dems have quietly insisted Obamacare is the best thing to come along since fire. Trump and the GOP have insisted it is not. Seeing it is failing, lack of choices, premiums up, deductibles up...will help the left? I have a tough time seeing that.
ADDED: I have to think at some point, some Dem will make the mistake of being honest and say, "We gotta make these insurers cover these counties even if they do not want to," which is as close to Lenin and Stalin as one can get, and will go over very poorly with all except true Marxists.
