Should be on with Justin on WTMJ at 6:15PM Saturday evening. Set your alarms and listen live!!

DeVos flies on her own plane...and does not ask for reimbursement.

To the left, this is troubling.

To the rest of us, we congratulate Betsy on her wealth and thank her for footing the bill to save us money.

They look to punish success in any and every manner they can. It's kind of sad.

9/21/2017 05:36:00 PM

(9/21/2017 04:30:00 PM) - Al

I got the Rams tonight, because I gotta pick one of them.

9/21/2017 04:30:00 PM

(9/21/2017 03:33:00 PM) - Al

Hypocritical behavior?

The hell you say.

They hate school choice because it evens the playing field.

9/21/2017 03:33:00 PM

(9/21/2017 01:00:00 PM) - Al

Heh.

Some tweets age very poorly.

9/21/2017 01:00:00 PM

(9/21/2017 10:00:00 AM) - Al

That's a shame.

9/21/2017 10:00:00 AM

(9/21/2017 09:00:00 AM) - Al

I must admit, that's pretty impressive considering they chose to go to school in Madison.

(9/21/2017 08:30:00 AM) - Al

I'm not saying she's guilty as sin...but it sure looks that way.

9/21/2017 08:30:00 AM

(9/21/2017 06:00:00 AM) - Al

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to insist the left is far more polite and civil than myself.

Well, to be fair, it's because they know better.

(9/21/2017 04:30:00 AM) - Al

If ESPN had said 3 words about disagreeing with Obama, everyone of these "columnists" would have soiled themselves.

Dem operatives with a byline.

(9/21/2017 02:00:00 AM) - Al

Forest for the trees.

If a police officer would have been killed, they would be applauding and insisting he deserved it, and the student should be released without punishment.

(9/20/2017 10:36:00 PM) - Al

I wonder if they've checked the giraffe enclosure at the zoos?

9/20/2017 10:36:00 PM

(9/20/2017 09:56:00 PM) - Al

Certainly nothing wrong with taking 2 of 3 on the road, but it's especially damning to lose after throwing so many arms at the Pirates. Counsell isn't worrying about tomorrow, and that's certainly understandable given the situation of having to catch up with just a few games to play.

Swarzak, while he did not give up a run while he was in, did not look to have a sharp breaking ball or his normal velocity. Knebel has been so good, it's almost shocking to see him give up anything, but as Hader showed a couple weeks ago, major league hitters can catch up to any fastball if it's down.

It's one thing not to have your top couple guys, as I feel pretty confident getting through the last innings with some combo of Hader/Hughes/Jeffress/Drake, but they all worked tonight except Drake, so while they may available, they might well be at partial strength.

One more reason to hope for a 12-1 win. Of course, that's what many of us hope for every day.

9/20/2017 09:56:00 PM

(9/20/2017 07:07:00 PM) - Al

Giants won last night and this afternoon, Crew 0.5 games out of the 2nd wildcard. Will be either tied or down 1 after the game this evening.

9/20/2017 07:07:00 PM

(9/20/2017 06:30:00 PM) - Al

Reagan did not care what the rest of the world thought either. No greater compliment.

9/20/2017 06:30:00 PM

(9/20/2017 04:20:00 PM) - Al

The Post’s Jorge Castillo, meanwhile, reports that the Nationals have hired former American League Cy Young winner Pete Vuckovich as a special assistant to general manager Mike Rizzo (Twitter link). Vuckovich has previously held special assistant roles in the Pirates’ front office and the Mariners’ front office, and Castillo notes that he’s spent the past couple of seasons working as a pro scout in the Diamondbacks organization. Vuckovich spent parts of 11 seasons pitching for the Brewers, Cardinals, White Sox and Blue Jays.--MLBTR

For a guy who Bill S and others claim was a complete grumpy gus that was as anti analytical as anyone, it seems strange he keeps finding front office jobs in today's game.

9/20/2017 04:20:00 PM

(9/20/2017 04:00:00 PM) - Al

The only thing CNN doesn't focus on the negative is when they're going after a private citizen for using their Constitutional right to free speech...because per the left, it's only "good" free speech if they like it.

Because shut up.

9/20/2017 04:00:00 PM

(9/20/2017 03:35:00 PM) - Al

Nelson will miss "a chunk" of 2018 as he recovers from surgery.

I had Stearns adding a SP via FA/trade before, so now, I suppose I have him adding a pair.

You need 8-10 SP's to have the depth to get through a season. I would say right now they realistically have 7-9; Anderson, Woodruff, Davies, Suter, Wilkerson, Guerra, Jungmann, (Hader...SP or RP?), Garza (option picked up?).

As always, it's a lot easier to fill those 8th-10th spots than it is 1st-3rd.

9/20/2017 03:35:00 PM

(9/20/2017 03:25:00 PM) - Al

I laugh every day how folks complain that Counsell "changes the lineup."

1. For the most part, it's called platooning.

2. Setting up players to succeed is pretty much all a manager can do. He has access to many numbers...how a player does against ground ball/fly pitchers, high velocity/low velocity pitchers, and many that we do not.

9/20/2017 03:25:00 PM

(9/20/2017 03:18:00 PM) - Al

Saw today that the Crew is 22-11 since they lost 6 in a row and had a team meeting.

Of course, while that seems impressive...

1. If they worked, they'd have a team meeting every day.

2. If you include the 6 games prior, they are 22-17 in their last 39 games, which is a 91 win pace. Overall, they are 81-70...which is an 87 win pace.

It's almost as if that proves how meaningless small samples are.

9/20/2017 03:18:00 PM

(9/20/2017 02:30:00 PM) - Al

So unAmerican. Pathetic.

Of course, any other stance would require discussing the pallets of cash Obama gave to a terrorist sponsoring regime in exchange for...hostages, which, yes, is against any number of laws.

Messiahs are above laws of mortal man.

9/20/2017 02:30:00 PM

(9/20/2017 01:30:00 PM) - Al

Amen.

The difference is simple. One believes in American exceptionalism. The other believed in working for the global good and not caring about what's best for Americans.

If I have the timeline right, the left abandoned the south as soon as the south started voting Republican.

Now, everyone that fought for their land, family heritage, or any other reason was a damn racist...funny, that seems to describe modern day politics as well.

9/20/2017 11:30:00 AM

(9/20/2017 10:00:00 AM) - Al

My advice? Stop being so selfish and needy you feel you should be treated "better" than anyone else.

(9/20/2017 08:30:00 AM) - Al

Remember when folks insisted Walker was a moron for not wanting a high speed rail boondoggle?

He was just ahead of everyone else.

Remember, if it makes financial sense to have high speed rail, private business will build it. It doesn't, however, so that's why government gets stuck doing it. They don't have stockholders to worry about.

9/20/2017 08:30:00 AM

(9/20/2017 08:30:00 AM) - Al

There's nothing sadder or more counterproductive than anti nap folks. They are shortsighted and buffoonish...but they get away with it by pretending being tired and grumpy makes them are hard worker. In reality, it makes them less effective.

Brewers have 52 saves...6 more than the 2nd place teams in the NL, LA and COL.

Hard to believe how many close games they have played, and luckily, they've won their share.

(9/19/2017 07:45:00 PM) - Al

Untruths were fine for 8 years.

You just gotta keep your eye on who is in the White House to keep up.

Also, for 8 years, the children of the president were off limits, even when photographed smoking pot. You see, it all depends if there is a D before the officeholder's name.

And if you don't like it, you're a racist Nazi. Or, worse, you're a bitter clinger who lives in flyover country.

9/19/2017 07:45:00 PM

(9/19/2017 07:23:00 PM) - Al

I thought it was hilarious.

Because it was.

9/19/2017 07:23:00 PM

(9/19/2017 05:30:00 PM) - Al

I'd bet my life he knew all about it. He assumed Hillary would win and cover it up.

Don't forget, when asked, he had his lawyer release a carefully crafted statement that said "I did not order it." That protected himself against future reports proving his administration had done so. Never forget, this is the same guy who said he had no idea Hillary was using private email, even though he had written to her under a pseudonym. I don't use a fake name and email to chat with folks...but, I would if I was guilty of something.

He told Susan Rice to do it. Rice, whose only tangible skills are to lie with a straight face and Gestapo like loyalty to her boss, would have assassinated someone if she was asked to do so.

9/19/2017 05:30:00 PM

(9/19/2017 04:21:00 PM) - Al

Wilkerson will get the ball first tomorrow night, though I'm not sure if he'll go more than a couple innings.

Lots of the same thoughts floating around Twitter today.

Yes, it has.

Good to see.

Current leader in the Ramblings' quote of the year contest.

Life comes at you fast. Get your story straight.

I'd call the UN is a joke, but I would not want to offend jokes.

He seemed to be basking in their disdain.--Melissa Francis on Outnumbered, about a long pause during Trump's speech which was met silence

I forget who said it, but Trump's greatest positive is his ability to not give a damn or feel guilty about telling it like it is.

9/19/2017 12:40:00 PM

(9/19/2017 12:30:00 PM) - Al

Follow the money.

When you insist it's hotter, colder, wetter, and drier because of the same thing, one needs not need to be a genius to realize they are being duped.

9/19/2017 12:30:00 PM

(9/19/2017 12:27:00 PM) - Al

So, for those keeping score:

1. Trump tweeted the truth.

2. The old media insisted it was lies, all lies.

3. The old media finally was unable to cover it up anymore, after months of doing so.

4. Old media and Dem politicians proven to be incorrect, and/or lying liars.

Gee, who woulda guessed it?

I, for one, am shocked.

9/19/2017 12:27:00 PM

(9/19/2017 11:30:00 AM) - Al

(9/19/2017 10:30:00 AM) - Al

The always unhappy left...the gift that just keeps on giving.

Most all reasonably intelligent US citizens realize kids mowing lawn is often a good summer activity, or a slow progression into other responsibilities and jobs. If it doesn't remind you of Obama's 96 months of insisting American exceptionalism was a negative, nothing will.

9/19/2017 10:30:00 AM

(9/19/2017 07:30:00 AM) - Al

Adams has been right so often, he's earned the benefit of a lot of doubts.

He's right though. I've spent a decade in sales, and he's 100% accurate on persuasion and marketing. The Dems insist they can win back voters by effectively saying, "You're an idiot. You elected a meanie, you're stupid fools, and you're just lucky we are here to save you from yourselves. Oh, and by the way, you're racists. Now, vote for us."

The first thought you are taught is to always be complimentary to your prospective clients. Their house is lovely, their lawn is lovely, they've done a great job for themselves. Now, let me help.

The left, since last NOV (and actually since the constant Obama condescending tone in 2009), the goal has to been to insist "I'm your best best to help you, because you're too dumb to know what you need. You're fat and your wife is ugly, now put me into power."

9/19/2017 07:30:00 AM

(9/19/2017 05:00:00 AM) - Al

The only question is how they survived so long.

It is well known that in the late 90's, TRU hired a consulting firm to come in and give them advice on what to do with operations, which would be best described as inept and ridiculous. When the consulting folks explained to corporate they needed to revamp the way they did everything, that they were simply broken and basically needed to start over, they...wait for it...fired the consulting company.

In perhaps an even more embarrassing tale, they had 2 computer systems, one used for scheduling, one used for inventory, payroll, and everything else. They had been given "trial" software, and when they could not agree on a price after the "trial" period was complete, TRU just kept using it. Hence, the 2 systems could not communicate with each other, which as you can imagine, was a logistical nightmare.

The corporate office would routinely send out changes to goofed up planograms and not give any hours to stores. One hour changes would take 3 associates 2-3 days to finish. They insisted "working a truck" (unloading, stocking shelves, and putaway) should take 15 man hours...in reality, it took about 20-25 man hours just to move the merch from the truck to the storeroom.

I have not been inside one for years, but when the Rambling son was younger, we would often stop by the Appleton and Green Bay ones...employees in ripped jeans and a half dozen different Tshirts would stand around chatting and shrug a lot.

9/19/2017 05:00:00 AM

(9/19/2017 02:30:00 AM) - Al

I have said this before, but despite the fact I believe pro choice is the "proper" side to be on, given the fetus cannot survive outside the womb (for now) before the 20 week mark or so, you know who makes it really difficult?

The pro choice side.

Meghan McCain in talks to host The View, where she would be the token conservative and get attacked daily by the meanest far left broads on the planet.

They made CCB cry on several occasions, and she's the sweetest person to ever exist.

I wish her luck, but they go through dissenting views faster than tap water thru a first time Mexican tourist.

BUMPED after completion of last game.

Last week I went 9-6, which tied me for 42nd out of 113 folks tracked by NFL Pick Watch. I hated going against the Packers and Broncos at home, and it turns out, I should have just not thought about it and picked them. I am still perfect in my eliminator picks too (he said one week in:)

This week...

Bengals--L
Ravens--W
Panthers--W
Cards--W
Jags--L
Chiefs--W
Pats--W
Steelers--W
Bucs--W
Chargers--L
Raiders--W
Cowboys--L
Rams--L
Seahawks (eliminator)--W
Falcons--W
Lions--W

BUMPED: 11-5; 1-0 eliminator

20-11, 2-0 eliminator

I'm no expert, but, yes. Yes it does.

Susan Rice did not unmask political opponents to see if they were using escort services and the like. She did it because she's a lying liar and a terrible human being.

(9/18/2017 09:03:00 PM) - Al

I've played on softball teams that would go into the last inning down 9-2, and get 2 guys thrown out on the bases while losing 9-6.

I never remember getting thrown out trying to take an extra base in my life. Sometimes, it helps being so slow afoot you rarely felt "going for it" was a good idea.

CNN has been proven to be fake news many times before, and this simply proves they are still doing it.

They're so desperate for ratings, they begged him to return today, then lied about inviting him back, and then got caught when they canceled his appearance, both by voice mail and by tweet.

If you can't believe CNN when they talk about who they've invited, you certainly can't believe them on anything else.

Travis has absolutely destroyed them, as he points out, simply by being honest. When you tell the truth, you don't have to remember who you lied to and what you said.

CNN, helping to sell Tshirts one bad decision at a time.

(9/17/2017 06:00:00 PM) - Al

I do understand it...many are jealous and resentful of the successful. That's why many insist the wealthy (they always define wealthy as making more than themselves) should pay more in taxes.

I, on the other hand, have often said those that are more successful than myself are probably luckier, smarter, and/or work harder than me...and I can't really be unhappy at them for any of those reasons.

The real irony with Osteen is, he doesn't take any salary from his church, all of his wealth comes from selling books, CD's, and planners. Should he just give them away? As the piece points out, when you have 50K folks coming to your services every week, the idea of meeting in a 200 seat, rundown building seems a bit...lacking in intelligence.

TMobile's ads informing people they can get "free Netflix" has to be the most aimed at millennials marketing ever, because, good freaking Lord, Netflix is $10 a month. Are there really people living in the USA that would like to have Netflix that cannot afford it due to the 33 cents a day expense?

Well, I'd love to have Netflix as an option, but do I look like Scrooge McDuck?

I saw Cub Scouts wandering up the driveway. Assuming they were selling something I did not need for a hellish markup, I remained seated, hoping no one else hears door knock. Rambling son hears knock, answers door.

Cub scout (in squeaky voice)--Would you like to buy some popcorn.

Rambling son--No thanks. Have a good day.

Cub scout (As door shuts)--OK.

I believe my work is done here.

The Brewers are now selling terrace box and reserved tiks for tonight and tomorrow. We sat right behind home plate  for the 2nd game at MP and loved the 4th deck. Since then, we have found we prefer club, but if you live close and buy your tickets there, it's $10, no fees.

Stop spending so damn much money.

There, I made a shorter version.

1. Cut 10% every year on everything except the military and defense related items.

2. Then, use your political clout gained from the economic boom from number one to get serious about cutting spending.

I could cut 10% over some Chinese food takeout and have the rest of the day to laugh at CNN insisting sending classified email over a nonsecured server wasn't a big deal, but some media dude saying he likes boobs is.

For a week or two, I kept seeing on Facebook people insisting WI would not pass a budget because "it was so bad."

Of course, "so bad" means my taxes will go down and lavish, wasteful spending for public servants keeps getting turned down.

I did not pay attention, since the GOP has both houses, I assumed it'd make it through, after lots of bickering and infighting, of course. Politics ain't a game for the faint of heart. In our area, a $4M airport in WI Rapids made minor news because it seems designed for private planes who play at an area golf course.

I realize $4M is a rounding error of a rounding error on a huge budget like that. If you look past the faux angst of the left pretending to be fiscally responsible, you'll see that the airport was scheduled to be redone or expanded or whatever in a few years, and just got bumped up...not sure if it's political or just because it was so inexpensive.

Wilkerson sure reminded me of Mike Fiers in his inning last night. Plus breaking stuff, and got swings and misses on a pair of 92 mph fastballs. Must be tough to pick up for whatever reason.

He's 28 now, so he's probably never going to be much better than he is now, but as a guy who will have 3 options next year, he seems like a good guy to have in the organization.

The Rambling inlaws are visiting this weekend. The Rambling son and dad in law are trying to run cable through the walls from the utility room downstairs to the Rambling wife's office (she's a college gal you know) upstairs.

1. I'm hearing lots of drilling noises and talk about "holes in the wall." I trust this is a positive development.

There’s little more than an “outside” shot for Brewers outfielder Lewis Brinson to make it back to health in time to impact the current season, per GM David Stearns (via Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, on Twitter). He has been down with a hamstring strain. The 23-year-old struggled upon reaching the majors for the first time this year, but had put up a monster season at Triple-A — where he batted .331/.400/.562 across 340 plate appearances. Brinson will surely be a big part of Milwaukee’s plans next year even if he can’t make it back on the field in 2017.--MLBTR

I don't think Brinson will be utilized for anything other than a PR/PH/defensive replacement if he does make it back.

(9/15/2017 08:42:00 PM) - Al

Wilkerson officially added to the 40 man, Yadi Rivera DFA'd.

Considering they could have just put Nelson on the 60 day DL, this would appear to be a polite move to allow Yadi to possibly be claimed (or traded) and get some major league time. He was out of options anyway, and I certainly do not see a 25 man spot for him in 2018...Sogard is not quite the defender Yadi is, but he's very steady, solid, and is not an offensive hole either. I've had him as the 40th man on the 40 for quite some time, and it appears I am finally right.

I wasn't wrong, I was just early.

EDIT: Posted earlier today, but Blogger put it in the "draft" pile.

Jason Terry wil return, and probably negotiated his way to a fully guaranteed deal by waiting and talking to other teams.

I'm not sure, other than maybe CC Sabathia, was more universally beloved after a single season with a WI based team. Terry is a perfect example of what a player who has made his money and just wants to help a team win can accomplish. He doesn't care if he plays 5 minutes or 35 minutes. In fact, in the final playoff series, he admitted he was beat up and would "play as hard as he could as long as he could" before the final game, admitting he was old and tired.

You can sure tell all the casuals who barely pay attention, wondering why Jeffress is starting when he can only go a couple innings. Suter has started twice of late and he's only went 2-3 frames because he's not stretched out.

Heck, if the Crew was playing the Reds and they had Hamilton and Votto bat 1/2, you could have Wang start and pitch to the first 2 guys and take him out. That would literally freak out folks, but it makes perfect sense.

Crushed.

I began DVRing Outnumbered when Meghan became a host, and intend to continue to do so. Lisa Boothe has been on 3 days in a row, so I'm not sure if she is being groomed to take over or if Tomi Lahren, who seems so likely, it'll never happen.

As I have pointed out numerous times, I've chatted with Meghan many times on Twitter and found her as refreshingly candid and politically incorrect as any human being alive. The fact she is not as thin as most women on TV led her to be labeled as "fat" by many, though she admitted, "No boyfriend has ever complained about my body."

(9/14/2017 09:43:00 PM) - Al

My first thought when I saw the Dems' quote of "excluding the wall?" I assumed that meant it was non negotiable.

Looks like I was correct.

1. It happens every once in a while.

2. Trump is a dealmaker. I recall Reagan saying that he always had to work with a Dem House, so he could never get 100% of what he wanted. So, he got 30%, then 20% more, then 15% more. By the time he left office, he had accomplished almost everything he had set out to do...it had just taken him 8 years instead of 1-2.

3. Many are wondering why he keeps going to Schumer and Pelosi? I don't know for sure, but the Republicans have a small majority in both houses, and many are far more concerned about reelection than big, bold change. Many are in extremely safe districts and seem unwilling to settle for improvement rather than perfection. McCain voted against replace and repeal after voting for it a dozen times, and has still not explained why.

Add all that up, time to make a deal with the devil...and when he's not available, you meet with Chuck and Nancy.

Watching President Trump and VP Pence shake hands and meet Irma folks as they go and pick up bottled water and fruit, it seems like these FL residents are meeting a rock star. All smiles, cheering, taking selfies, all friendly. I have to think the old media is crushed not to see finger pointing, people yelling, and the like.

Also, a note, despite the Outnumbered gals repeating over and over how hot and humid it is there, both Trump/Pence are wearing windbreakers, as I assume they are covering their bulky bulletproof armor. However, Melania is looking sexy as always, wearing just a polo shirt. I wonder why she isn't wearing the safety vest?

(9/13/2017 11:41:00 PM) - Al

Not only was it a W, but not having to use or even warm up Knebel, Swarzak, or Hader was a huge victory, giving the back end guys at least a pair of days off and a minimum of 72 hours of rest between outings.

5 out of 6 is a nice run, to say the least. They did not gain a bit on COL, but you can't control the other clubs. 85 wins is 85 wins, whether it results in a playoff spot or not. Put up wins and hope for the best.

9/13/2017 11:41:00 PM

(9/13/2017 11:26:00 PM) - Al

Trump makes a deal with Pelosi and Schumer, involves "dreamers" and border security. Details will likely be announced when they have a presser, but it seemed obvious Trump wanted DACA to be legislated away.

As others have wondered, why this wasn't done during the Obama years is a mystery for the ages. Assuming it does not include those with felony convictions, or other neer do wells; no one has the heart to remove them, as in many cases, the USA is the only home they've ever had or known.

Phillips' throw clocked at 104 mph, highest velocity of any throw from the OF this season, per Statcast.

9/13/2017 09:15:00 PM

(9/13/2017 08:54:00 PM) - Al

I still get crap that I think Stearns will deal Santana this offseason, because neither Brinson or Phillips has "proven themselves" in the bigs.

1. Even without Domingo, they would still have Braun/Broxton/Perez/Thames, plus the above mentioned prospects.

2. Corner OF's are not all that tough to find, and 4 of the above 6 can play CF.

3. If Phillips ends up being a below average hitter, his arm will make him a serviceable player.

Throwing guys out is great. But, guys with strong arms save far more runs just by making runners and coaches afraid to take that extra base. They may only throw out 30% of the guys who risk it, but they keep 100% of the guys from advancing if they do not try.

Aaron Wilkerson will join Brewers, per Adam of MLB.com.

Will have to be added to 40, so I assume Nelson will be placed on the 60 day DL.

I would also assume they will leave him on the 40 man this winter as well.

Wilkerson AA Southern League rankings: 1st in WHIP (1.07), 3rd in K's (143), 5th in Opp AVG (.228), and 7th in ERA (3.16).

Also threw 7 no-hit innings in start for #Skysox in PCL playoffs.

Wilkerson was kept at AA Biloxi until the playoffs due to the belief his off speed stuff would not work well at the Colorado Springs altitude.

EDIT: Brewers listing TBA, Davies, and Woodruff for the Marlins series. I'd say Wilkerson is likely the favorite to start FRI (though Guerra/Garza/Williams could also be options), though he probably won't get much of a leash to go 5.

Due to the last minute nature of the scheduling, 10K tickets FRI, 23K tickets SAT and SUN. In the past, all tickets were $10, but I saw they were all $25 for the Citi Field series. Given the quality of the seats, $25 seems more than fair.

Still no word on where the Marlins/Brewers series will be played this weekend. The TV team said last night it may be played in MIA, but may be a doubleheader SAT and a single game SUN.

I'm sort of surprised how slow this decision is to be made, as the Brewers and Marlins may have to both make completely alternate travel plans for a party of about 50 people within 18 hours, even if the decision is made right now.

(9/13/2017 11:00:00 AM) - Al

Only the first couple paragraphs, but I'd love to see a 26 or 27 man roster all season, and then 40 in SEP with 26 or 27 active. As I have pointed out many times, I say so for selfish reasons, as small market teams like MIL would not be outspent for 26th and 27th men, as for the most part, they would be loogies, PH's, and maybe a spot to hang onto a Rule 5 pick with a bright future.

That would stop the goofiness, but still allow teams to play and manage differently, as teams would not have any SP's active except the one starting the game, so it'd be like having a 30 or 31 man roster. Teams could also have "inactive" relievers that have pitched a couple days in a row, or that went 2+ frames the day before.

I could have never imagined how many Dems have spoken out so hatefully at capitalism and good paying jobs. If they would have put FoxConn together under Tony Earl or Jim Doyle, they would have tried to change the state name to State of Earl or Doyleland.

I read this and thought to myself, "Geez, the Brewers could easily be out of the race by then."

Anderson will start tomorrow. He will be on short rest, but only threw 65 pitches or so last time out. This also might get him (and possibly even Davies) an extra start, given the days off in SEP.

As I said when Nelson went down, at this point, you set up your rotation to have your best guys go as often as they can, and just fill in the other days. If you're not contending, many clubs are going with 6 SP's. Depends on what you want to accomplish.

I can tell the wind, rain, and flooding is far better in FL.

How? Several mentions during the day that "many are without power, that means, no AC on a very hot day."

150 years ago, our ancestors left the eastern USA for the unknown in the west, knowing they may not survive, realizing they would never see their loved ones again.

They did not have AC either. Hard to believe they made it.

The great thing about being a fan of Newcastle United in English Premier League soccer...no one in the USA cares about it, and thus, it does not show up on the ticker all day, so you can DVR a game at 10AM and not watch it until after the Sunday Night Football game is over.

Similar to working and living in Minnesota and hoping no one tells you the Brewers score cause you're taping it...no worries, unless they're playing the Twins, exactly zero chance of that happening.

Newcastle has been on NCBSN 3 times in the first 4 weeks, I doubt I'll see them for a month or so now.

EDIT: By the way, you'll never guess the final...1-0. If you get 2 guesses, and say 1-0 and 0-0, you'll be right about 75% of the time, or so it seems.

I wonder if meteorology schools have "gender," "attractive," and "hair color" boxes on their applications, because it sure seems to me the number of lovely blonde females informing us of wind speed and storm surge height is far from coincidental and well out of proportion with society.

This sounds vaguely familiar.

Remember, a couple weeks ago, the big thing was statues, many of which have been there for 100+ years. A few months ago, it was transgender rights.

They ping pong their way through issues so low on the totem pole you need a backhoe to find them. And everything is the end of the world...until they find something else that's the end of the world. That overreaction, that exaggeration, is why many folks don't pay attention to a thing they say. Trump is Hitler? Yeah, so was McCain and Romney.

You want a funny thought? Trump is a very moderate Republican. One could imagine him as a conservative Democrat, especially from a Southern state.

Think of the left's sudden change of heart if he were to announce at some point he'd be seeking reelection (especially if his numbers were trending up) as a Dem.

It's funny because it's true.

So, if 2 hurricanes in 2 weeks proves climate change, does none in 12 years prove the opposite?

Doesn't matter. It's cold because it's hotter. It's hot because it's colder.

And the only way to solve the problem? Redistribution of wealth.

No one seems to be saying it, but the hurricane has "calmed" to a 3 as it hits land, while many of the predictions had it as a 4 or 5. That seems like a very positive development.

Jim Mattis looks bored sitting next to the president as he discusses the hurricane. I think he'd be far happier if he could go shoot down Irma and then beat the hell out of it.

It is astounding that the left always wants to insist any guy accused of sexual assault is guilty, and then are silent when the inevitable number are not even charged with a crime, or are found not guilty.

Look at the sidebar at that Mattis quote.

We are the most powerful military to ever exist on the planet. They'd be back to the stone age (considering they do not have electricity at night, that's not saying much) and in 48 hours, our pilots and missile techs would be home eating dinner with their families as if nothing happened.

Peace through strength.

Per Adam of MLB.com, Stearns says replacement may not come from current major league options, minor leaguers will be considered. He puts forth Jungmann and Wilkerson as possibilities.

Jimmy Nelson will miss the rest of the season. Thank goodness he was smart enough to let them know when he did, he may avoid surgery.

I would expect Counsell to simply line up Davies, Anderson, Woodruff, and maybe Suter the rest of the way and go with a "bullpen day" when they need a 5th SP, though Guerra and Garza would probably get the nod to get the meaningless first pitch. Brent is not stretched out, so he will probably be limited as well. Might be good for Jungmann, who continues to pitch nicely in tough conditions at AAA, if nothing else, he may well be called up to act as the "mop up man who can go several innings."

I'm sure many are jumping off a cliff, and there's no doubt there will be a dropoff, though it will be overstated; because the 40 man roster limits the pain of losing a dependable SP who can give you 5-7 frames most nights. Jimmy will miss 4 starts (5 if they need a 163rd game), so at 6 innings per, and replacing him with guys you expect to give you a replacement like 5 ERA...you're probably looking at 5 runs, which translates as half a win. Of course, it could be 0, it could be 4, as that's baseball.

On another note, Jimmy can be put on the 60 day DL, meaning they can add a player to the 40, as Nelson will no longer count. This opens the door to any nonroster pitcher (or position player) who is performing admirably...but I'd say it especially helps Blazek, who has been superb minus that bad start in DC. Scahill deserves a mention as well, as a 1.40 ERA speaks for itself, especially in a bandbox.

EDIT: Another option would be to add a pitcher they would have to add this winter anyway to protect from the Rule 5 draft. Aaron Wilkerson and Freddy Peralta would be options, though I do not know if either hit their innings limit (Aaron is 28, so I doubt he has one), and I am not sure if Wilkerson will be protected either. Peralta is a no doubter as to being added, bit may well be out of innings, having jumped from 82 to 120 this past season.

GOP is a huge tent, you have everything from strict conservatives to left of center moderates who are from a red area so they cannot win as a Dem.

One problem with that? You can easily have divisive issues that the two above will disagree on.

Good problem to have.

Memphis went up 5-0 in the 2nd in Colorado Springs.

The score now? 16-14 Sky Sox up...in the 8th.

Heh. That's a tough place to pitch.

Speaking of which, Tyler Webb sure has struggled since coming over from NYY. That's the downside of having your AAA team in a hitter's paradise, you just don't know if it's a mental thing, altitude, or what.

Webb's stats almost mirror Hader (5.37 ERA) when he was there. It's just hard to tell. I guess you have to depend on your scouts and alternative numbers, since it's tough to just "forget" the fact it's all but impossible to pitch normally in half your games, even when you're on the road.

I've been hesitating to talk about the Crew much of late, because SEP of a season when the team is in any sort of contention is embarrassing, as the casual of the casual start discussing one cliche after another, and they are all beyond the scope of reason.

Thoughts?

--When I was on with Justin on WTMJ a while back, I said I felt it would take 86 wins to make the playoffs (or, maybe a 163rd game playoff). The Crew would have to go 20-12, I said. Well, the Rockies are on pace for 86.8 wins, so 86 is still not a bad estimate. As of right now, MIL would need to go 14-8 to do that.

--I don't mean to be mean to the simpletons, but those that are saying "the Brewers have to sweep the Cubs"...one has to wonder what they are thinking. 14 wins will be tougher if they do not win any this weekend, as sooner or later, you begin to run out of games. That said, if they lose their next 6, and then win their final 16, I'll take my chances.

--While they have struggled to score in the 2nd half, I am not one to throw out the first half numbers as if they did not happen. So, in that realm...overall numbers:

11th (of 15) in runs scored
11th in OBP
8th in SLG
9th in walks
.331/.441 with runners on base
.310/.427 with bases empty

6th in ERA
5th in SP ERA
6th in RP ERA

Don't believe the hype my friends. They actually hit better with men on base. Why don't they score more runs? Because they make too many outs (that's what OBP measures) and don't smack the ball enough (that's what SLG measures).

Aaron Wilkerson throws 7 hitless innings tonight for the Sky Sox, Blazek and Scahill finish up and allow a hit each. Series tied at 1 each, best of 5.

Gonna be a tough call for the Crew whether to add Aaron to the 40 this winter, as he's 28 and does not throw hard, but he sure has gotten AA and AAA hitters out while missing plenty of bats. I would have to assume they will add him, as Guerra proved, it's all about results, whether your 28 or 23.

Melissa Francis thinks the "deal" Trump made with the Dems was political genius. It gives the illusion of compromise and working together, and today, the left is claiming victory...though they basically got nothing, except delaying the inevitable for 3 months.

My first thought? Trump is a dealmaker. He has a backup plan for every backup plan. In business, including retail, which I spent a couple decades in, there's no "well, let's work with the other side to strike a deal in which both sides win." You're too busy opening the doors, running the business, and getting ready to open tomorrow to concern yourself with much more than that when you are in your busy season. But if you keep yourself looking at the long term, at the big picture; you'll be far ahead of the game.

You can acquaint this with baseball too. We see never ending discussion on if a pinch hitter move or if a bullpen move was "correct," but in reality, it's results based. If Player A hits a blooper that falls in between the 2B/SS/CF, no one cares if Player B lined into a double play when he hit the ball far better. Player B sucks and he should never play again. Why? Because most fans are very casual and barely pay attention.

The overwhelming disgust at Hillary's book excerpts...mostly for Dems, as no GOP folks could give a rat's behind, is hilarious. Her refusal to blame everyone except herself is driving them crazy, especially since she has now hit both their favorites...the messiah himself Obama and the rabble rouser who the kids love Sanders. I have personally heard or seen a half dozen left leaners say today "She was a flawed candidate," or "She would have lost anyway."

Six months ago, and very likely, last week, this was pure crazy talk, and grounds to be called racist, deplorable, or just a fool.

Who would have thought Hillary would ever lose this group.

9/06/2017 03:19:00 PM

(9/06/2017 03:13:00 PM) - Al

Learned today while looking for something else...the Navy just filled up 2 ships with disaster supplies in Norfolk, VA; and they are on their way to Florida. Also, they have 2 more ships that were loaded in Norfolk a week or so ago and headed down the ocean to go to Harvey...but had to wait due to Irma complications. They are currently hanging around the coast of SC waiting for direction...do they head to TX, or pull into FL.

Governor Scott laid out his plan, and sounds extremely ready. Told the people ordered to evacuate to do so and quit making excuses.

{Quit putzing around and hop in a vehicle.}

Also admitted that water supplies are in short supply due to weight restrictions for trucks and roads, which have all been waived. The danger seems to be from wind, for the most part, not rain or water. That means the storm will be tough, but as I pointed out last week, when the wind ends, it's over. Rain does not magically disappear when it stops falling, it takes time to flow downhill, and those in low lying spots suffer.

My FB friends who live in FL all appear to be "waiting it out" after stocking up. As I said before Harvey (as did Instapundit, who took lots of criticism for it), I'd be gone today or tomorrow. However, I understand, lots of people have no savings, little credit, and lack transportation (heck, I would not feel comfy going more than 100 miles or so in the car I drive). Miami looks to be the epicenter of the forecast, and to be blunt, Dade County is, like almost all high population urban areas, a poverty stricken hellhole. Many of them, I guarantee you, are hearing the news and saying "They better take care of me."

It's a well deserved fall to irrelevance for the old media.

I'm surprised they waited this long. It might just be publicized more, but it takes a few days to get the trucks on the road, so I assume it's just now hitting the news.

I believe they said FEMA has been in FL since SUN, but of course, the early birds have little to move except themselves.

Like a "temporary tax increase," government passes "limited" measures so they don't have to justify permanent ones.

Because they are incredibly strong willed and not mostly concerned about reelection.

Trump back up to 45% approval on Rasmussen.

If you wonder why the old media tried so hard to find negatives during Harvey, you're looking at it. Strong, positive leadership works, especially after 8 years of the opposite.

It's also why the focus has been on Irma, hoping against hope a nonexistent levee breaks somewhere in FL. It's not that the old media wants bad things to happen, it's that they hope and pray it does. And while I would never suggest they try and spin the inconsequential negatively, did you hear the first lady wore heels on the plane?

EDIT: Also, note the complete lack of concern about DACA outside the old media. I continue to be puzzled about their insistence to latching onto social issues that have barely a ripple of concern outside the beltway.

Did not realize the Brewers played in Miami next week. Time will tell if they actually end up there or somewhere else. I read 2 reports on Irma this AM, one said it would hit FLA FRI, one said MON.

I think it's safe to say they do not really know yet.

If you don't like an Obama opinion, just wait a while...it'll change.

The Rambling wife brought these home. Tastes just like cotton candy.

1. What will they think of next?

2. They can make a fruit taste like candy, but folks are simply flabbergasted the weather is not identical every single year.

Centuries ago, they used to blame the gods, and the stars that kind of sorta look like something if you've had enough grog. Some do the same thing today, just sub in climate change for stars.

Pirates embarrassed themselves here.

They've tried to explain themselves, but it's just a hodgepodge of "well, we didn't want to let him go to a competitor, but we thought we might still be in the race, but we thought we'd let him go, but."

Whatever strikes me as interesting, and serious Milwaukee Brewers thoughts. If you are a believer in respecting OBP, throwing strikes, and keeping the ball in the park, you may have found the place you've been searching for. I believe in low taxes, small government, and am not afraid to be labeled patriotic. I'm happy to pay taxes to help the helpless. I don't like paying taxes to help the clueless. Look at the Occupy movement...I'm forced to pay taxes to help those whose plight I delight in.--Dennis Miller

I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.--Mad Dog Mattis
