PAC pulls VA ad, not because it was met with scorn, but because of the NYC event.

As often is the case, the ads they run that they hope will lead to Dem votes does the exact opposite. Many of Hilary's ads made Trump look like a patriotic saint, but they did not get it until it was too late.

Will it drive enough undecideds away? Time will tell. I will say say this...anytime an ad shows the "bad guy" with a Confederate flag, you know it was made by people that have no idea how Southerners think.

High schools have "Confederates" as their school nickname all over the southern USA. It does not have any connotation to slavery, it has to do with pride and not being told what to do.

We may never know their true motivation.

I've cancelled my membership in the National Rental Truck Association. And, I think it's high time we rewrite the Constitution too...word is, large trucks didn't even exist when our forefathers wrote that document...heck, it's over 100 years old anyway.

CNN outdid themselves here.

This is why I hate people so.

(10/31/2017 09:30:00 AM) - Al

I said it before, and I'll say it again...even those in the industry have trouble separating who is a star and who gets good numbers just because they are on the #1 cable news network.

(10/31/2017 08:30:00 AM) - Al

My first thought when I heard about them?

Why did they say they had 24 hours to live? They had been out there 5 months and took a year's worth of food with them.

They sound like they wanted a reality show out of it. Now, it sounds like they lied about the storm as well. Sounds like they're just boating around waiting for a big ship to find them, so they could become famous.

10/31/2017 08:30:00 AM

(10/31/2017 07:30:00 AM) - Al

It's a wise decision for a public figure. Ask Bill Clinton.

I'm not sure how these old media places keep getting hacked.

We may never know the real reason.

(10/31/2017 01:30:00 AM) - Al

The sad thing to me is this...even they can't think of a single reason to vote for them. So, they push hate, and racism, and "they're awful."

Who's that remind ya of? A certain woman people despised who ran for president.

Fish have Stanton, Gordon on "want to trade" list.

Gordon could be of desire to the Crew, while he make more than my often mentioned possibility Cesar Hernandez, he would cost less in prospects, due to money, age, and a past PED suspension. Gordon is signed through 2020 with an option for 2021, so that's probably a year or two more than the Crew would prefer at the price of $11-13M per.

I doubt if this is a match, as Gordon does not walk much, have an above average OBP for his position, have much versatility, or have much pop at all; all Stearns' traits he seems to look for. Of course, as the team gets closer to contending, improving a position, such as 2B, may be more important now.

10/30/2017 07:56:00 PM

(10/30/2017 03:55:00 PM) - Al

Be careful what you wish for.

As many have quietly said in the past couple months...what if Trump comes out of this clean?

Sounds like Manafort is accused of something money related almost a decade ago, while an advisor whose name starts with P; as is often the case, lied to special agents, and in DC, the cover up is far worse than the crime.

10/30/2017 03:55:00 PM

(10/30/2017 10:30:00 AM) - Al

The best part?

11-2 got my eliminator right.

I thought that was good, but 6 of 114 on NFL Pick Watch are 12-0.

Won my eliminator last week, though it took OT, 4-3 for the year. 18th of 30 in my ESPN group.

10-5 after all the games, tied for 80th of 114, per NFL Pickwatch.

57-49 for the season, tied for 99th of 114.

My thoughts on Mueller's "big" announcement tomorrow?

Whoever is brought in is extremely unlikely to even go to trial, never mind be convicted. It's a witch hunt with question marks, as there's no way he should be near this thing. As with most staged political events, they tend to end with a whimper.

After all, I hear it's easy to a indict a smoked pork product on bread...

EDIT: After all, it's not like they just found a body or have been testing DNA for a year. You can dig up anything in a year on anyone.

10/29/2017 08:10:00 PM

(10/29/2017 06:10:00 PM) - Al

Let me give you the even shorter version of the last year:

NOV 2016 until a few days ago: Trump! Russia! Collusion! Russia! Trump! Proof? Well, you just wait!

The Dems paid a firm to finish a fake report. Said report was probably used to obtain wiretaps to eavesdrop on Trump. This current "investigation" by Mueller only exists due to 2 reasons...those fraudulent wiretaps and the illegal Comey leak.

A few days ago until now: Hillary was doing exactly what we have accused Trump of doing? So? It's just opposition research. Gee, talk about desperate.

All the rest is for the lawyers.

Granted, I do not know a lot of "millenial women" by any means, but of all the women of child bearing age I have known in the last decade that have discussed it with me, I'd say 80-90% used an oral contraceptive.

And yes, most women I have trained and worked with happily volunteer such info, usually with no prompting at all. Since STD's are well higher than a decade ago, I just assumed this was still the case.

10/29/2017 05:29:00 PM

End of watch, one year ago today.

Still awaiting trial, because the court system does an outstanding job of hurrying criminals through. He all but certainly has a better cable package than I do.

Remind me again how we have too many prisons and are a bunch of meanies because we put violent scum behind bars for long periods of time.

The hell with them.

What? I, for one, am shocked.

1. Think how disappointed and surprised Obama must be this morning. After all, I'm sure he just found out when it hit the news.

2. Not a smidgen of corruption. Heck, at least no border patrol or CIA agents were killed...this time.

3. Accuse your opponent of what only you are doing, as you are doing it, to create confusion.--Saul Allinsky

Actually, "strong on crime" means not pardoning known criminals like Chelsea Manning. It has nothing to do with race.

He got about twice the black vote (by %) as Romney. The more the old media acts like crime is not a big deal, the more blacks will say "I'm far more worried about real crime than I am some criminal getting shot by a cop."

The old media doesn't know this though, because not only do they never talk to flyover country residents, they rarely leave their suburban cocoons.

I'm beginning to think Trump can see the future.

The funny thing is, not only is he getting these right; the old media insists on saying he's gone plum nuts every time he makes a prediction...that is later proven to be accurate.

Hollywood shocked that Thank You For Your Service having a disappointing first week, even after the studio tried to make it military friendly by having special showings at bases and the like.

I still recall one of the comments after American Sniper opened to record numbers...it's amazing how many Americans want to see a movie in which Americans win...rather than seeing them suffer with injury and PTSD.

The elites keep insisting they'll make the rubes like the good guys suffering...and the rubes keep finding something else to do.

It's almost as if it's just a politically charged witch hunt from the beginning.

He has one charge so far, rumors have it related to the Podesta group's behavior or record keeping, perhaps as far back as 2010. Note despite the fact that all that info with Hillary paying for a fake report has leaked out, nothing came from his year long investigation.

Of course, if they start investigating Clinton, the uranium swap that he ignored would come up, and it would all have to be ignored due to a conflict of interest.

As should the whole thing.

Mueller probe has charges on one person, almost certainly completely unrelated to Russia, and within minutes, leaks it to CNN.

One thing I saw mentioned today is that it would appear the Crew currently has Perez/Sogard/Villar as reserve infielders (though all have played some OF, and Villar/Perez have played quite a bit in their careers).

What does that mean? Well, even if they carry 13 position players, it seems unlikely they will go with a C, a 1B, and those 3. Perez seems to have found a place in MIL, he is a nice role player. Villar would have more trade value (not nearly as much as last offseason, of course), as many teams look to buy low, and he is a very versatile piece as well, being a switch hitter and able to play any infield spot, with some OF on his resume also.

MIL signs Sogard to a major league contract, so he will take up a 40 man spot. $2.4M plus incentives.

A very good utility IF and a passable option as a platoon 2B/SS, he's a very nice bench piece. He's also the rare LH hitter that can play 2B/SS/3B at a plus level (and probably could be an average defensive LF/RF if given the innings).

ADDED: As I think about this signing, the one thing that comes to mind is...would Sogard have signed with the Brewers if he felt Walker was coming back? Or if they were going to bring in a young everyday 2B like Cesar Hernandez?

The answer? I dunno. Perhaps, no one does except Eric. Maybe he wanted to return regardless. Players similar to Sogard have had to take minor league contracts with camp invites...heck, Sogard did last season, as he recovered from knee surgery. Maybe he realizes his best spot is as a utility infielder, and knows he is not an everyday player at this stage of his career.

{What's that old saying? Bench me or trade me!}

That said, several clubs will have starting 2B, many making similar money, that are not as good as Sogard. The Brewers will never have a star at every position, so they need depth, good solid depth, like Sogard. A similar player is Broxton, though he has more ceiling. As an everyday player, they have some warts, but as a part timers, set up to succeed, they have value.

Heh. It's unethical but maybe not illegal.

The scandal is, they paid for info that was used to get FISA warrants that were used to snoop on Trump and his people. Also, they did not disclose it on their election spending forms. One more strike, and someone might be out.

As I have said before, if they would find her with a bloody knife in her hands over a dead body, she would say she pulled the knife out and the old media would insist she was deserving of a spot on Mount Rushmore for her heroism.

A recap of why Mueller should resign (or, should have resigned months ago, or never accepted the position).

You don't run an investigation based on your best friend's leaked classified info. I can't believe I actually have to say that.

Every day he stays on at this point seems to indicate either more of a cover up, or being completely tone deaf to reality.

As I said earlier, one of the most team friendly contracts I've seen since Lucroy's.

Anderson obviously chose security over maximizing his income. Good for him. Those team option years are astoundingly reasonable.

Of course, Chase could take $10M of his guarantee and receive about $300-350K a year for the rest of his life (you can do this by googling up annuity calculator). Is giving up monopoly money riches worth that kind of peace of mind? To most, of course it is.

Brewers extend Chase Anderson two years guaranteed with two Club option years. You can go to MLBTR for the info as I am on my phone and cannot link it.

Anderson choose to take guaranteed money instead of trying to hit it big in arbitration. The club option years seem especially friendly.

10/25/2017 10:00:00 PM

(10/25/2017 09:24:00 PM) - Al

Who woulda thought CNN would deny what is going on?

Tons of rumors, but...is it possible Trump set this up himself? Could he have set this up through a 3rd party and the Clintons (and possibly someone else, maybe one of his primary opponents) fell into the trap?

Some are speculating there is some sort of "plan" here...now that this has leaked, the game has changed. No one has any loyalty to Hillary anymore. The fact Mueller has not resigned (one person said he has 10 times the conflict of interest needed to recuse himself) is not a coincidence. One of two things is happening:

1. Hillary is dopier and even more of a crook than we thought.

{Needless to say, that needle was already on overload.}

2. Since Hillary is going down, they are hoping they can somehow take Trump too, be it through something Mueller found (before running for office probably) or something else, be it real or fictional. Was something heard on the wiretap that is unethical? Politics is a dirty business. There is no law against meeting with someone who claims to have dirt on an opponent, but perhaps offering money or favors would be...or if not illegal, perhaps simply not looked at favorably, and politically damaging.

The fact Mueller has not resigned due to an obvious conflict of interest makes me wonder just how incredibly deep this thing goes.

I mean, he's already caught in the cover up, but he must still feel the need to stay on to cover up...something even worse?

LeeAnn Chin used to advertise all the time in the Cities, radio and TV. They were the first place I ever saw that offered you $30 (sometimes $35) in gift cards if you paid $25. I ate there once a week for the year or so I ran a party store in Richfield, MN (store got held up the MON after I left, it was the good part of town), a few blocks from South Mpls.

However, to comment on this tweet, the lack of Chinese restaurant chains, for the most part, make TV advertising out of their price range.

(10/24/2017 09:32:00 PM) - Al

The funny thing is, if the Dems came out and said "We agree we need tax cuts, we just want them to be for the lower and middle class. We agree taxes are too high, and we blame the Republicans, who have had the majority in the House and Senate for 6 years. Obama tried, but knew he would never get it past the GOP."

Never mind that hardly anyone that makes under $30-35K pays a penny in taxes, so almost everything the left has said in the last few weeks is just scripted malarkey. It would be lies from the Dems (hence, I repeat myself), but it would still go over big time, and might be just what they need to get many of their voters back.

Luckily, they are not smart enough to do that. They keep doubling down on the same, tired "you guys are too stupid to realize we know what's best."

At some point, they will come up with a platform and a strategy. History shows they should pick up seats in the midterm, and may win the House. Schumer actually said today "I think Trump thinks this will lower taxes on the middle class, but it won't." That's a strange admittance, and probably part of the long term plan, whatever that may be.

(10/24/2017 09:00:00 PM) - Al

Heh. Just watch them.

Allow me to remind you...if Hillary would have won, none of this would have ever seen the light of day. Heck, it a year and a subpoena after she lost.

That's why she didn't show up on election night. Not only was she too drunk to stand, they were already planning their defense. They knew.

Counsell wins NL manager of the year. Tweet is from our local weather gal, who tweets more about sports than weather.

You can just about bet your house that the manager of the year either manages the best team, or the team that did better than expected.

The irony to me is, the Rockies and DBacks also won far more games than predicted, so I assumed they would all split the vote and Dave Roberts would win.

(10/24/2017 06:03:00 PM) - Al

The long suspected cover up proven true...Hillary paid for the dossier of fake Trump info.

Why were they so quick to blame "Russia?"

Because they had been making up stuff about Russia for months.

10/24/2017 06:03:00 PM

(10/24/2017 05:27:00 PM) - Al

I must admit...The Onion is less of a satire than Newsweek.

By the way, nothing says "that's a group I want to join" more than still whining about an election a year ago. By this point in 2009, the GOP had already decided on a platform and chosen many centrist candidates for the midterms. The Dems have no platform other than "resist!"

On a related note, the coastal elites are bravely visiting flyover country, and guess what? They're not listening. They are insisting they had it right all the time, even though they had the results completely incorrect.

You can read the whole thing here, as they visit many of the places I have lived in western WI, the 3rd Congressional District, which voted for Obama twice and Trump once. It's a long read, but well worth your time. However, the money quote is right here:

The researchers had somehow found their premise perfectly illustrated. Their journey to Trump’s America had done nothing to unsettle their preconceptions...The researchers I rode with had dived into the heart of America with the best of intentions and the openest of minds. They believed that their only goal was to emerge with a better understanding of their country. And yet the conclusions they drew from what they heard corresponded only roughly to what I heard. Instead, they seemed to revert to their preconceptions, squeezing their findings into the same old mold.

{I added the bold, because if perfectly aligns with what I have been saying for a year, and really, for 9 years...they think they're correct because the other side are rubes...and they're rubes because they disagree. In reality, many of the rubes have simply changed sides. Obama was popular, but his policies were not. That's what led to the 1000 lost seats. Meanwhile, Trump is unpopular, but his policies are very popular, that's why consumer optimism is higher than in decades.}

They met a lot of small town, medium city, Midwestern people. Union members bemoan the fact almost half of their members support Governor Walker, they wonder why the left has moved so far left. None of that is even discussed. They seem to hear only what they want to hear...wonderful for the GOP.

That phrase that keeps coming up is one I have repeated often, though the first person I recall saying it was Toby Keith:

I never left the Democrat party, the party left me.

Perhaps the most damning? Keith says the backlash against him began when he had the nerve to, wait for it, release songs many consider patriotic and/or pro American.

Jeff Flake, floundering in the polls, says he will not run for reelection.

Despite the old media telling us over and over how unpopular Trump is, those who have been the loudest in complaining about him are resigning because they know they will get embarrassed in their primaries.

Rambling rule of thumb...politicians most often "resign" or "retire" when they're afraid of losing. I do not know if it's true or not, but I have seen many AZ citizens on message boards insist Flake is far more popular than McCain in the sunshine state.

Not sure if Dickey told the Braves he wants to retire or not, but that option seems like a no brainer if he's healthy. Innings eaters can make about $15M per season, and may be worth more on a one year deal because of the lack of risk.

His plain, non memorable name will hurt him, but get used to it...black conservatives are not going to stay quiet and not freely talk about their beliefs any longer.

Not only did Trump almost double the black vote compared to the ultra white Romney, he got 13% of black men. Mia Love gets a lot of press due to her impressive ability to be sound bite friendly and attractive, but almost 20% of black men did not vote for Hillary. Black males especially have been moving right for decades (albeit at a turtle's pace), and while Obama slowed it down, he ain't running again.

Lost in the success of the Astros

{on a sidenote, you know Stearns is adding their success to his resume as well}

is the cries of the many that insisted they were wrong in "tearing it all down." I do not recall who it was that said it (though it may well have been perennial curmudgeon Peter Gammons), but I know someone said "they have lost an entire generation of fans," paraphrasing of course.

There is no right or wrong way to rebuild. However, the "tear it all down and start over" method that has had significant success the past half decade is certainly in vogue right now. As I have discussed often, there are really only 2 levels:

1. Contention

2. Not in contention

Many teams have added a 3rd or 4th..."close to contention", ".500," "on the right track," and so on. When 85-88 wins will get you into the playoffs, a .500 record, or even a few games under if you had a lot of injuries or have a young team that is growing, can be considered "a contender."

The thing is, 54 wins is basically the same as 74-78...except you're drafting 10-12 picks lower each round. Is that a huge advantage? Well, in the 1st-5th round, it's significant. After that, not so much. Still, "getting stuck in the 70's" is a common refrain. That's one reason I'm a big believer in drafting "hard to sign" players in the 11th round and beyond...the difference between an 11th round talent and 35th round talent is minimal...so you go after top 5 round talent anyway you can...even if it means not signing them all.

I admit, I've never heard of Mickey Callaway, soon to be the Mets' new manager...he was the Indians' pitching coach.

Well, he's right.

The previous administration basically had an 8 year honeymoon.

{Pallets of cash illegally going to a terrorist regime? Well, I guess they know what they're doing.}

The current one was under attack from the minute they won in NOV. One might almost think there's a hint of bias there. I thought this may lead to some sympathy, ands it might eventually. It has, without a doubt, emboldened many halfhearted Trump supporters to become loyal Trump supporters.

If you take a look at the Rasmussen approval ratings, it has pretty much been between 43 and 46 for the last month, minus an occasional outlier. Walker has won 3 gubernatorial elections without ever having reached 50 in the Marquette law poll. Consumer optimism is very high though, as the president's policies are far more popular than he is, which may well be a sign of the constant attacks...many are still hesitant to voice their support.

Answer: Because they feel sorry for the criminals and not the victims.

Reminds me back when we lived in a St. Paul suburb, twice I got my car window broken, and once, they took my stereo (which, I believe in the late 90's, was a AM/FM cassette). The second time, the police officer dispatched to do the paperwork told me I could ask the closest apartments if they saw or heard anything, and maybe check with nearby pawn shops to see if they had taken it in.

I felt like asking, "Isn't that what you guys are supposed to do?"

Police detective--We'll let you know if we find anything.

Seinfeld--Do you ever find anything?

PD--No.

Rashard Vaughn did not dress tonight for the Bucks, and Parker and Payton are the two inactive guys that are sitting on the bench. That does not mean RV is about to be traded...but it seems kind of likely, given the circumstances.

(10/21/2017 07:30:00 PM) - Al

They have misjudged the public again.

They simply have no idea what people think outside NY/DC/LA. Attacking a general who lost a son in combat is not going to end well.

They insisted Bergdahl was a hero and are now insisting Kelly is not. They choose poorly.

Reminds me of another terrible decision that they just can't escape the consequences of. I warned them, but they were far more intelligent than me.

10/21/2017 07:30:00 PM

(10/21/2017 03:55:00 PM) - Al

A proper response would have been, "Congratulations. And thank you for your service."

So simple, yet they have no idea.

Polite and civil? No.

Safe space! Safe space!

The fact they think we're all stupid rubes whittling a stick on our porch with a basset hound lying next to us makes me feel better than ever.

Of course, I have a very, very cold heart.

When your old living room furniture is your new patio furniture...you might be a redneck Republican. Foxworthy had to stop telling those jokes because it was too triggering for the millennial population.

Bosio has always seemed like an old fashioned, "geez, just throw better pitches" type of guy, and this is not the current state of MLB, with metrics and analysis of everything. That said, he can probably help many pitchers on the mental aspect of the game.

If he does not get a MLB pitching/bullpen coach job, he worked for the Brewers for a couple seasons as a scout and a coach, mostly in the minors. He still lives in Appleton, I believe.

I'm always surprised Fred Dabney (current pitching coach at AAA Colorado Springs) and Lee Tunnell never seem to interview elsewhere. A decade ago, they spent 15 minutes with John Axford in Brevard County and his velocity increased 4-5 mph and stayed there throughout his career.

(10/21/2017 11:00:00 AM) - Al

Bernie thinks it should be far, far larger.

He won't be happy until we're all have nots. That's pretty much the dictionary definition of socialism. At some point, when everyone is fully dependent on the government, they just confiscate all the businesses and...wait for it..."spread the wealth" from the successful to everyone.

Since they did nothing to earn it, they treat it like a bag of cash that falls off an armored truck. Work on the weekend? I'm not doing that. Let someone else do it.

The USSR had record harvests and it all spoiled in the warehouses...no one had any skin in the game, so no one planned out a schedule, or drove the trucks, or unloaded the trucks, or made the bread. Because, if everyone is treated "equally" you can be darn sure I'm sleeping in, and some stupid rube gets up early and does it.

Unexpectedly. However, to be fair, it worked until they ran out of other people's money.

Is the the military coup that those on the left keep asking for?

Or the one in which an elderly military hero who lost his son in combat spoke softly about the attention whore of a congresswoman who saw an opportunity to maximize her 15 minutes of fame to show how selfish she is.

Why do you hear so much about the Koch brothers? Because if you focus on some rich dude who gave $167M to 100% Dems, it would not fit the narrative.

10/20/2017 10:30:00 PM

(10/20/2017 09:00:00 PM) - Al

Of course they do.

Half of them would believe Trump was the leader of the northern army in the Civil War if you told them he was.

10/20/2017 09:00:00 PM

(10/20/2017 07:39:00 PM) - Al

Funny how the untaped ones made public by a political enemy seem to do the opposite.

Or at least the tapes we haven't heard yet (though if the White House does record, I assume they would not release it without permission from the widow).

10/20/2017 07:39:00 PM

(10/20/2017 07:00:00 PM) - Al

The fact he ignores his failed policies and legacy is absolutely hilarious.

For almost 4 decades, Carter has done the exact same thing...blamed the public for being "too simple" to understand how gosh darn brilliant he was. As many have pointed out, the irony of this...questioning why the American public chose Ronald Reagan, who basically transformed American politics for the next half century, is pretty much the epitome of self delusion.

At this point, Obama is pretty much Carter without the photo ops of him occasionally swinging a hammer for a charity project.

10/20/2017 07:00:00 PM

(10/20/2017 04:54:00 PM) - Al

10/20/2017 03:46:00 PM

(10/20/2017 12:48:00 PM) - Al

True.

The longer it keeps up and they continue doing nothing except trying to block the Trump agenda...excellent for the GOP.

I've noticed a consistent theme of late...many folks, even the anti Trump ones, also seem to be very pro Trump agenda. For instance, you might see this from folks.

I agree, Trump is terrible.

I'm not sure why anyone would be against tax cuts.

This is what we call "group think"...only going to say publicly what they feel is a safe, majority opinion. When we see inconsistent vote patterns, one has to remember about a third of all voters are "independent" which is another way of saying they are influenced by the weather, the way the candidate looks, if their name is funny, if they are smiling in their campaign ads, and so on.

Many folks wonder how in the world so many WI voters can vote for Obama, Walker, and Trump. See above. Why are people so optimistic about the economy but Trump's approval rating is in the 40's...see above.

10/20/2017 12:48:00 PM

If you wonder why they say cows "break down" at a much younger age than they used to...consider this bossy averaged 200+ pounds of milk a day for a year.

I think they just waste away. It's like the guy who commutes 100 miles each way 5 days a week and wonders why his tires wear out so fast...

Kelly is right, and Wilson 100% wrong.

And, she is an awful human being, putting politics above honoring the finest Americans who choose to serve while making essentially minimum wage plus a pension.

The hell with them. They are simply despicable human beings who would love to block what they know is a winning agenda. They want the citizens to suffer because those are their voters.

10/19/2017 03:00:00 PM

(10/19/2017 01:30:00 PM) - Al

I agree.

Many of those claiming wrongdoing are unhappy about not chosen for a job they were not qualified for, and/or being asked out by someone they were not interested in. Those that do not want due process for "some" are simply ignorant of how the system works.

So if you helped cover up a crime, what better way to bury it a little deeper a half decade later than to run an unrelated investigation and manage to "overlook" everything that happened back then and kick up just enough dirt and fictional outrage in another direction.

The swamp is a deep one.

10/19/2017 11:47:00 AM

(10/19/2017 11:30:00 AM) - Al

A wise man has said this many times.

They are doing the exact opposite of what any PR firm would recommend. They are simply being outsmarted. Trump dared them to double down by saying they shouldn't do so, and they fell right into the trap. Weeks later, they still insist they are doing the right thing, and every sign indicates the public vehemently disagrees.

Time will tell if it damages the brand long term. It certainly is not going to help.

10/19/2017 11:30:00 AM

(10/19/2017 11:27:00 AM) - Al

The real reason is admitting Iran has never followed the deal would be admitting it was a farce from day one and Obama agreed to a deal everyone knew was fiction the day it was signed.

That's why he never sent it to Congress. Luckily for him, the old media never pointed out how terrible it is.

(10/19/2017 02:30:00 AM) - Al

Money quote:  There is a certain kind of politician who likes high taxes, partly because he likes big government, which is the natural result of high taxes, partly because he wants most people (not his tribe, of course) to have as little money as possible.  The poorer people are, the more dependent they are. Politicians of a certain stripe want people to be dependent on the government, i.e., on them and the instruments they control.

A wise man has said this numerous times as well. From what I recall about Reagan, he'd be treated the exact same way as Trump...as every GOP president or candidate has been Hitler since 2000 (if not before).

Why? Because he's evil in that he feels government causes more problems than it solves.

Bucks win their opener, tough road game at BOS. Giannis, Brogdon, Middleton, Delly, and Monroe all had nice games, and even Henson gave them 17 solid minutes. They held a very good team to 43% shooting, and seemed to shoot a lot of layups and open 3's. Add that up, it's a good sign.

10/18/2017 11:58:00 PM

(10/18/2017 11:00:00 PM) - Al

This is why the networks are not talking about it. This and the unmasking scandal means there are two completely illegal and hellishly unethical things we have found out that were ignored and covered up that we never would have found out without digging through all this Russia silliness.

FYI, Ryan Braun said today on WTMJ that he would only approve a trade to the Dodgers, something most of us have thought since he achieved his 10/5 rights, but casuals ignore, often suggesting trades to every team not named the Dodgers.

Other than that, they did things by the book.

10/18/2017 06:17:00 PM

(10/18/2017 06:11:00 PM) - Al

I was reading on my phone while waiting for the Rambling son at school so I cannot find the link, but the article was talking about how Joe Maddon had "lost his luster" with his "confounding bullpen moves" this postseason.

1. I had no idea the Cubs/Dodgers played last night. The Rambling wife went to bed early, around 8:30, so after we watched some DVR'd stuff, I checked Fox, ESPN, and FS1...no game. Figuring I must have got my nights mixed up and they had played MON and were off, I gave up. But, they have been outscored 15-4 so far. Unless Maddon can't hit or pitch, not much he can do.

2. Per the casuals...good bullpen management is equal to having relievers not give up any runs.

3. Anyone that saw last year's playoff bullpen usage knows, at best, his stategery is pretty much just put his best guy in and hope.

4. Finally, they said Wade Davis has not been used yet. I suppose that is odd, but I'm not sure bringing him in down 6-1 is why they lost.

This is unrelated, but, let's talk overrated:

Player A, L3Y--.316/.449
Player B, L2Y--.296/.426
Player C, L2Y--.318/.424

Javy Baez is player A, and while he is a couple years younger, the only reason he gets so much ink is because he plays for the Cubs. If he was a Rays' player, he'd still just be a guy, though he is a bit younger, and may be a SS someday.

B is Hernan Perez and C is Keon Broxton.

Hernan Perez is player B by the way

(10/18/2017 11:30:00 AM) - Al

No, I'm not sure why he needs a Twitter account.

Remember how they stopped talking about the Scalise shooting when they found out it was a Bernie supporter? Not a coincidence.

Remember back when I said the first thing they thought of to blame Trump for was Russia because they had actually been working with them? If this keeps up, Scott Adams will be congratulating me.

10/18/2017 11:30:00 AM

(10/18/2017 10:00:00 AM) - Al

A wise man has said something similar often.

The more Hillary speaks out against Trump, the better it is. In fact, she should start complimenting him. Things like, "At least he didn't fall down when he said it," or "I agree he needs to get something done. Too bad the only thing he knows about immigrants is how to get them into bed." Hillary, however, has never had a funny thought in her life, except when she thought she was qualified to run for president (though to be fair, she is "qualified" because she's an American over 35...that's all it takes).

The irony is, in her mind, she thinks the citizens that have voted against her twice while voting for two inexperienced guys instead will somehow say, "You know, she's an awful person who laughs at awkward moments and never smiles, but suddenly, I've had a change of heart. Maybe she was right."

10/18/2017 10:00:00 AM

(10/18/2017 09:23:00 AM) - Al

1. They lie. All the time.

2. They're so hopelessly bad at it.

10/18/2017 09:23:00 AM

(10/18/2017 08:55:00 AM) - Al

You stay classy, CNN.

They completely made up a story about Trump having Russian investment connections. They made fun of McCain for not being able to use a computer (his POW injuries make typing impossible or very painful, depending on who you ask). They made fun of Bob Dole because he always carried a pen in his right hand, so people would shake with their left, due to the fact his right hand was damaged in combat.

Just when you think they've hit rock bottom, they manage to get a little more dirt
out of the hole.

A couple thoughts about calling the families of our fallen heroes:

1. My first thought upon hearing the accusation was "I have to believe they record calls on the official White House line. I bet we will see a transcript eventually." President already hinting that.

2. My second thought? It seems to me that saying someone volunteered to do a dangerous job is a compliment. All of our military take a risk in signing up, as it's a dangerous occupation.

It reminds me of what they say about Army Rangers, how they have to volunteer 3 times...they have to join the Army, then ask (and qualify for) to go to Ranger school, and finally, ask to be a Ranger (anyone can go to Ranger school, if you wish, you can pass and then go back to being a mechanic or any other MOS).

Somehow, if President Trump pointed that out, I assume they would say that was disrespectful as well. Fits the narrative.

(10/18/2017 07:00:00 AM) - Al

I know I'm in the minority here, but I have no problem with this. Cops don't have to get kicked and hit by anyone, whether it be a 90 year old, 80 pound woman; or a 8 year old, 50 pound youngster.I remember when the Rambling son was a 12 pound baby, and he'd get upset and start swinging his arms and kicking while someone was holding him...guess what? It hurts.

I realize folks insist you can solve every problem with teddy bears and soft voices, but it may not always work that way with infinite amounts of kids. I distinctly recall special ed kids in high school screaming at the top of their lungs and the teacher walking out in the hall followed by the rest of the class. A few minutes later, a principal or male teacher would go in and walk the offending party to the office. What would have happened had the student started punching and kicking? At some point, the police would have been called.

Is the kid going to be scarred for life being told to behave or he will be punished? I know he's "special," but hitting people has consequences. I see this the same way I do when people tell me prisoners in isolation often struggle with it. Well, they ain't there for their health. They are there to protect the other prisoners and the corrections staff.

You can complain all you want if you agree to live in the concrete box with them. Otherwise, it might be time to accept the fact some people are incredibly messed up, and they ain't gonna be fixed by having another felon getting the crap beat out of them by a psychopath.

10/18/2017 07:00:00 AM

(10/18/2017 06:00:00 AM) - Al

They keep wondering why those in the asylum won't stop behaving stupidly.

They have been throughly outsmarted, and now have no way to win. Instead of admitting defeat, they keep calling time out, of which they have an infinite amount.

This is a perfect example of what happens when leaders don't lead.

(10/18/2017 02:00:00 AM) - Al

Know what I find humorous?

They think citizens of the USA give a damn where they are assigned to sit. The hell with them.

(10/18/2017 12:30:00 AM) - Al

Amen.

Maybe Obama can tell us what the hell he was thinking releasing them, instead of talking down to the rubes who just don't understand how brilliant he is.

(10/17/2017 07:50:00 PM) - Al

Oof. Herro reopens his recruiting.

Like most high school kids, they change their mind 20 times a day. I hope he ends up in Madison. One wonders if he simply wants to "just be another guy" at a school a long way away than be "the home state kid."

Remember, he can give a verbal to 100 different schools, all that matters is when he signs a letter of intent. I have no idea how good his grades are, but the academics have scared away a plenty of potential Badgers too.

10/17/2017 07:50:00 PM

(10/17/2017 07:36:00 PM) - Al

Unexpectedly.

Think back a few weeks, how easy it would have been to simply say, "You know, it's controversial to our fan base to protest during the anthem, so we will fine and suspend you if you do. The other 165 hours you can protest how you want, but not during the game."

Remember, no decal was allowed to mourn assassinated Dallas cops (see, that was "controversial" but disrespecting the flag is not). Nothing could be written on cleats in support of 9/11 victims...again, "controversial" to mourn terror victims).

It barely would have made a ripple of news...the NBA effectively did this the other day, pointing out the rule made in the 90's is still in force.

Instead, they decided everything against Trump was genius. If he says it's right, it must be wrong.

They got played. Like many companies based in NYC, they are in a bubble and have no idea how the country thinks.

(10/17/2017 05:35:00 PM) - Al

Payton signs a 2 way deal with the Bucks.

I think he will dominate with the Herd and be ready in case of injury.

One thing I do not know is what happens if another team wants to put Payton on their 15 man, if they have to work a trade with the Bucks or if they will do what's best for the player and release him and allow him to get into the NBA. We'll have to see what happens.

10/17/2017 05:35:00 PM

(10/17/2017 04:38:00 PM) - Al

I know nothing about the Packers' QB they signed to the practice squad, but he went to Air Force before transferring to Virginia Tech, and while they do make exceptions for athletes, they do not allow dummies in. He'll probably have most of the playbook in his head by the time they play after the bye week, heaven forbid he's needed, right Packers' fans?

If it were me, I would have brought in the best running QB out there that can, you know, throw "ok" because teams in the NFL simply do not see enough running QB's to bother coming up with schemes to defend them, other than basically having a "spy."

10/17/2017 04:38:00 PM

(10/17/2017 04:30:00 PM) - Al

They'd have better luck convincing me how darn mean and the like Trump is if they would not have called all around good people W, McCain, and McCain Hitler.

Life comes at you fast.

(10/17/2017 03:38:00 PM) - Al

I wonder why the silence on this? One would almost have to believe they have hidden it because it does not fit the narrative.

The irony? One wonders how much came to the forefront because of the Russia investigation...remember that? The silence is deafening.

(10/17/2017 02:30:00 PM) - Al

Healthy as a horse.

Not even trying to hide that little drinking problem anymore either.

10/17/2017 02:30:00 PM

(10/17/2017 01:00:00 PM) - Al

See, the humor is when a Dem is in office, and the serious and arrogance is when the GOP is.

Because that's the way it is when you're a hack.

When Obama cut off visas from 7 countries, he was being thoughtful and cautious. When Trump did the identical thing, he was a racist.

Because shut up.

However, I do credit the Supreme Court for not laughing out loud as they told the appeals court they were fools.

10/17/2017 01:00:00 PM

(10/17/2017 11:00:00 AM) - Al

Al,

Lots of people in the MLBTR comments want Dee Gordon as the 2B. Thoughts?

Matt

Positives: Gordon is a good defender, runs well, and has a decent (.330) OBP for his career, would be helped about 5-6% by playing half his games at Miller Park, though he is not a HR hitter, would likely increase his extra base hits.

Negatives: Very "slight" of size, signed for 3y/$39M with an option for a 4th, heavy splits (far better versus RHP, about .310/.340 versus LHP, not a bad option against a loogy, but would probably be platooned with Perez or Villar); 30, probably headed down hill from here, OBP very BA dependent, as he rarely walks (4.5% career, 3.6% LY), good SB man, but just an above average success rate (77% career, 79% LY, comparable to Villar).

I would prefer a Cesar Hernandez type, but Gordon would cost less due to his age and big contract, probably just a single prospect of some merit.

10/17/2017 11:00:00 AM

(10/17/2017 09:30:00 AM) - Al

This is that evil dude that Obama kept ripping apart for having the nerve to defend his country from unprovoked military attacks for 96 months.

Shoulda given them pallets of cash, I guess.

10/17/2017 09:30:00 AM

(10/17/2017 08:30:00 AM) - Al

Well, to be fair, he was clueless on pretty much every decision for 8 years.

Admittedly, however, this was a doozy.

Trish Regan is correct, I've broke my little toe twice, and it really, really sucks.

Well, to be fair, he also did not proudly say Trump had no chance of winning the presidency, because he's so much smarter than us.

Richard Jefferson has decided to sign with the Nuggets, Bucks claim veteran wing Deandre Liggins to fill the 15th spot...for now.

Liggins is a 3 and D guy, but I doubt he will be with the team if they find someone better.

If I have this right, Obama released dangerous terrorists, to free Bergdahl from captivity, all so he could plead guilty and go to prison?--JR Salzman, decorated veteran

True that.

It's quite a legacy.

(10/16/2017 06:30:00 PM) - Al

Rose McGowan reminds me a little bit of our president...fighting liberal hypocrisy, using bad language, and while a huge underdog, seems to be kicking butt and taking names.

And, call me sexist, but she's far more attractive.

10/16/2017 06:30:00 PM

(10/16/2017 05:35:00 PM) - Al

No glaring errors in MLB's Brewers outlook...though they might have asked for some help from a well known Brewers' blogger or two...off the record, of course.

The nontenders and 2B options both seem well thought out, as do the possible extensions. I think there's a chance Vogt returns, but as with Jeffress or Torres, they will probably have to be nontendered and brought back as free agents.

Nunez is a RH bat, but has always hit RHP better than LHP...he has outstanding versatility, though he will probably get 3-4 years due to his very good 2017, which was likely Fenway Park related. He's been slightly below average defensively at 2B, though he might well improve to about average playing there somewhat regularly.

10/16/2017 05:35:00 PM

(10/16/2017 05:00:00 PM) - Al

I have to admit, the left hates Devos so much, they insist due process is just an overrated fad.

Even Jerry Brown had to admit they're goofy.

10/16/2017 05:00:00 PM

(10/16/2017 04:26:00 PM) - Al

Heh.

10/16/2017 04:26:00 PM

(10/16/2017 04:17:00 PM) - Al

The irony? They thought that Trump had misjudged the public. After all, going against Trump always works...right Hillary? A dozen GOP primary competitors? Ahnold? Old media?

Turns out, wait for it...he had read the masses perfectly. Those that underestimate Trump's ability to choose catchphrases and side with the majority do so at their own risk.

Trump's approval is less than 50%, but the guy who keeps arguing against him is at 18%.

I think those that think they can win by fighting the president's agenda have misread the situation as badly as the NFL.

A wise man said something similar.

Adams has been so right on, one has to be very gutsy or very ignorant to not pay attention to what he says.

1. That last 15% will be the most difficult.

2.It isn't surprising at all when one considers Obama ignored his military's advice because it wasn't PC to kill evil.

3. We're just lucky he didn't send them pallets of cash...that we know of.

(10/15/2017 04:00:00 PM) - Al

Last week I went 6-8, and lost yet another eliminator pick. I finished tied for 74th out of 114.

For the season, I am 42-35. This is tied for 88th out of 114.

I'm 3-2 in my eliminator choices. No, this is not very good.

Panthers--L
Falcons--L
Packers--L
Lions--L
Pats--W
Skins--W
Ravens--L
Texans--W
Bucs--L
Jags--L
Chiefs--L
Raiders--L
Broncos (e)--L
Titans--W

3-9 after the late games. Only loss I considered taking the winner was the Saints, who I hate picking against when they are at home, but I thought the Lions would score a lot. They did, and still are down 14 late.

I went back and forth between the Cards and Bucs. ESPN fans and NFL.com fans also went 3-9 thus far, so it was a good week to go with upsets.

(10/15/2017 03:51:00 PM) - Al

The winds of change continue across the globe.

Good. Weak borders and insisting they need more of your money is simply not attracting voters. It doesn't help that the immigrant friendly nations have been hit by crime and debt...unexpectedly, of course.

10/15/2017 03:51:00 PM

(10/15/2017 12:36:00 PM) - Al

I could not figure out why we had the Pats/Jets game, but then I saw the choices...one of the worst slates of early games on CBS you will ever see.

Jets off to an early lead, so maybe they guessed right.

10/15/2017 12:36:00 PM

(10/15/2017 12:03:00 PM) - Al

They got played.

Now, they had to go begging to the networks and tell them to try and hide their bad behavior.

That's one tiny step from asking them not to report on future criminal behavior. Don't think for a second they won't sink that low.

10/15/2017 12:03:00 PM

(10/15/2017 08:00:00 AM) - Al

Give back the money? You don't know the Clintons very well, do you?

As for the Obamas, they talked to Harvey a dozen times inside the White House. Money talks.

10/15/2017 08:00:00 AM

(10/15/2017 06:00:00 AM) - Al

That makes sense unless you simply punt foreign policy because you don't really understand or care.

The history books will probably skip over the pallets of cash, but if they don't, future generations will go, "What the hell?"

10/15/2017 06:00:00 AM

(10/15/2017 03:00:00 AM) - Al

He was wrongly accused, because women insist those that commit sexual assault do not deserve due process.

The irony? That's exactly what the University of Minnesota did last year. Players were all but randomly chosen, and then suspended...they were not even charged with a crime. When anyone bothered to point out how unfair this was, they were ruthlessly attacked, and the coach was fired.

Why is this so difficult for you rubes to understand?

10/15/2017 03:00:00 AM

(10/15/2017 01:30:00 AM) - Al

They're simply too dumb to vote Democrat.

Note they continue to insult those they need to recruit. They just can't help themselves.

Note they don't mention that Hillary lost white women with college degrees. That would defeat the narrative they're selling, because shut up.

I'm not the only one who is reminded of Sgt. Schultz when you hear the denials.

Everyone knew.

I knew nothing!

Remember how shocked and offended this same group was when they were forced to hear a naughty word on a decade old private conversation involving the president. They almost dropped the bible they were reading from the high horse of irony they spend their life living on...

(10/14/2017 07:45:00 PM) - Al

The Rambling wife and son got home from church tonight, and we all decided to fend for ourselves for supper. The Rambling son took his and went down to this room, and the Rambling wife was making a sub on lettuce for herself (she's wasting away!) and was wondering if she could use the last of the salami, which we try to keep on hand for the Rambling son's lunches he takes to school. I had my phone next to me, so she had me call him and ask him if she could finish the salami.

Rambling son--Yeah?

Me--Hi, how are you?

RS--Um, fine.

Me--I was just calling to see how you were doing!

RS--Dad, you and I both know that is not true.

He was right, you know.

10/14/2017 07:45:00 PM

(10/14/2017 05:41:00 PM) - Al

Bucks cut Green, have open roster spot.

I would just leave it open and see if someone gets released or bought out they really want. Or, they can always just wait and see if someone gets hurt and they need to fill a certain need later.

I'm hoping Gary Payton II signs a 2 way deal and plays in Oshkosh. He has looked very solid in his time.

Every service member learns how to tie a tourniquet in basic training, or whatever they're calling basic these days.

They may have been "out of favor" with the cool kids who are running 5K's after having run in fancy obstacle courses which they insisted were really tough because their attire got somewhat soiled during the 10 minutes or so it took to complete, but not with those in the business of killing and saving lives.

10/14/2017 04:37:00 PM

(10/14/2017 03:00:00 PM) - Al

I have been pointing this out for almost a year...people are hellishly confident about everything Trump does...but are still hesitant to say they like Trump.

It's basically just peer pressure, but imagine listening to a person take a phone survey:

Very confident in the economy.

Yes, we're heading in the right direction.

My situation? Better, without a doubt.

Trump? Oh, I don't know.

10/14/2017 03:00:00 PM

(10/13/2017 04:24:00 PM) - Al

It's easy to change your mind when you don't believe in anything.

These fools think if Trump does it, it must be wrong. The public notices the hypocrisy, and does not forget.

Solid, well thought out beliefs do not change as the wind blows.

I can't believe he fired Comey!

Trump ends subsidies to insurance companies, which, by the way, the courts had ruled was illegal, because it was. The president cannot appropriate money, only Congress can. No one cared though, because shut up.

The do nothing Congress keeps getting more dumped in its lap, and they keep wanting to go raise money and campaign.

That's a shame.

Shorter version...they got played.

Money quote: There were all sorts of unobjectionable means available for players to take a stand of defiance toward Trump, but they allowed themselves to, in effect, get double-dared into disrespecting the flag.

I'm finding it difficult to believe that a bunch of mostly barely literate athletes were fooled by a strategic thinking businessman/politician who has been doing this for decades.

I'm happy to pay taxes to help the helpless. I don't like paying taxes to help the clueless. Look at the Occupy movement...I'm forced to pay taxes to help those whose plight I delight in.--Dennis Miller

If you choose the path of terror, your life will be empty, and your life will be brief.--President Trump

Never have lives less lived been more chronicled.--Dennis Miller

I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.--Mad Dog Mattis

I have never understood why it is "greed" to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else's money.--Thomas Sowell
