Al's Ramblings

(11/30/2017 10:01:00 PM) - Al

Anyone is fair game in liberal CA cities, because juries don't pretend to give a damn about anything except letting illegals go free.

He admitted he shot her.

They do not care about guilt or safety. It's all about providing a safe space for illegals...and a dangerous spot for white women.

Verdicts like this is exactly what middle America needs to see to get just irritated enough to ask their Dem reps what they are doing.

The hell with them, every last one.

(11/30/2017 06:38:00 PM) - Al

These may be the stupidest people on the planet.

Also in the news, I stole some cash out of my own wallet today.

They just don't get it. Pelosi called Conyers an icon and now calls for his resignation. Completely clueless, and everyone knows it.

Jim Nabors passes away. As a fan of the Andy Griffith show for 40 years,  it's like losing a neighbor...no pun intended.

Consistency is not their strength.

When you rely on polling data for all your core beliefs, you tend to be full of crap. And change your mind more than the breeze changes direction.

(11/30/2017 10:28:00 AM) - Al

They were too busy pretending Trump was somehow worse than Hillary forgot all about the court appointments.

Surprisingly, those making emotional decisions did not really think it out.

(11/30/2017 09:59:00 AM) - Al

The lowest point for Moore was 5 days after the accusation.

In the future, with a TUE election, I expect to see FRI AM press releases. Not that these things are planned or scheduled in any way.

I was reading the comments last night and it was so cute, one person said, "Wait, how is Moore above 50%? He's certainly not going to win is he?"

There will probably be at least one more wave to come, timed to hit right at the end. Just coincidentally, of course.

11/30/2017 09:59:00 AM

(11/30/2017 09:38:00 AM) - Al

When the status quo is upset then you know you are going in the right direction.--Jack Stovall

Amen.

I must admit, by far the funniest thing in the past month has been Chuck Schumer managing to keep a straight face when he said "This plan adds $1.5T to the deficit in the next decade!"

Obama added $10T to the deficit in 8 years and somehow managed to raise everyone's healthcare premiums and let the military's equipment rust away.

While insisting the successful pay more and the middle class should pay less; they fail to say why Obama never even proposed such a plan.

11/30/2017 09:38:00 AM

The economy has gone to hell in a handbasket, to be certain.

(11/30/2017 09:21:00 AM) - Al

The funny thing? Sanders "forgot" to mention her deduction would now be twice as large. This is someone who pays no taxes now and gets money back now.

It's like me paying for a small pop and getting a large because they're out of small cups. Bernie would complain I didn't get a jumbo.

{Actually, Bernie would complain they have anything but a small, because it's terrible some people actually enjoy themselves. Remember, comfort and wealth is "bad." Everyone is equal because everyone is a have not.}

11/30/2017 09:21:00 AM

(11/30/2017 09:06:00 AM) - Al

As Instapundit said, they will support him until they don't think he will win reelection.

The more Franken talks, the less likely he is to win reelection. He is a bully who won't shut up. He thinks he can outsmart his critics, just like he made a living in comedy despite not being funny.

(11/30/2017 01:00:00 AM) - Al

It isn't about helping the middle class.

It's about punishing Trump. It's about not admitting Obama was wrong.

Remember, the left does not even want to get rid of the most regressive tax that exists, the Obamacare penalty.

Loves it.

Nothing I like more is when someone proudly says they're not going to show up and the response is a resounding, "So?"

Sarah has her dad's sense of humor. That's why she's far better looking than folks give her credit for. A woman that's a 6 turns into an 8 when she's fun to be around.

That's what makes me a 3.

(11/29/2017 10:30:00 PM) - Al

I wonder what the point is here?

Pence is a Republican, so he must be wrong.

(11/29/2017 09:24:00 PM) - Al

How dare they go rogue and tell the truth?

Let's hope they don't figure out all they need to do to is put Rice in charge and get rid of the senior socialist coalition.

Fiers is a nice innings eater type, and has the ceiling to do far more.

He's one of those guys casuals complain about, and then are thrilled they have once a SP or two go down.

His bad year in 2017 can be traced to a high HR/FB ratio, which is probably bad luck. His "expected" ERA is always about a half run less than his actual...getting out of HOU would likely help as well.

11/29/2017 07:45:00 PM

(11/29/2017 06:47:00 PM) - Al

I will link later, but mlbtr has a nice piece on underrated free agents.

Waiting for the wife to wake up after knee surgery. She's one groggy gal.

Tommy Hunter is another example. There are probably 30 quality relievers  (and likely more after nontenders) and only about 7-10 ever get mentioned.

(11/29/2017 01:00:00 PM) - Al

I'm so old, I remember when Bill Clinton saved the world by making an agreement with North Korea, and then never doing a thing after that to follow up.

But yes, it's all Trump's fault.

11/29/2017 01:00:00 PM

(11/29/2017 11:00:00 AM) - Al

Their desperation makes me joyful.

Our little grocery about a mile from our house, which we often stop at if we only need a couple things, had pumpkin pies for $1.99 the day before Tgiving. The crust was the density of diamonds, as I assume they were bought by the case, so I just ate the pumpkin part like pudding, and threw the flour and water mixture out in the weeds, where the bunnies that live under the pine trees love such things. I didn't make them...honest.

The irony? The envy even carries over into baked goods. I can't imagine being so miserable.

(11/29/2017 09:30:00 AM) - Al

(11/28/2017 07:30:00 AM) - Al

It's offensive to native Americans that she lied about it.

Again, if Trump is doing something offensive, they would egg him on. The average American sees her as a liar who has never had to pay for her sins. He already won an election calling her Pocahontas.

Not only is it funny, but it reminds everyone she's a horrible person. Crazy like a fox.

11/28/2017 07:30:00 AM

(11/28/2017 05:30:00 AM) - Al

Funny, I'm not sorry, because I never did it.

As I said with Clinton, a resignation is appropriate when your error becomes an embarrassment for the office.

He (Franken) will never leave. That’s the irony. A person with no morals will never do the right thing. An honorable man would not have been in this position in the first place.--John Murray

Funny how that works.

(11/27/2017 08:30:00 PM) - Al

It's funny because it's true.

11/27/2017 08:30:00 PM

(11/27/2017 08:15:00 PM) - Al

As I have said before, with far more talented people than Keith, it really isn't "retiring" when no one will hire you.

In today's world, any yahoo can have a website (trust me, I know) and put out videos or writings, but that still doesn't stop a fool from proving what a fool he is.

Guys like KO and Krugman eventually get tired of always being wrong.

11/27/2017 08:15:00 PM

(11/27/2017 05:18:00 PM) - Al

True.

By the way, Pocahontas is not a racial slur. It's making fun of a lying liar.

They play right into his hands when they do this. Unless you're a far lefty, people see this and immediately think of one thing...Warren is a liar, and it's enjoyable to make fun of her.

11/27/2017 05:18:00 PM

(11/27/2017 04:30:00 PM) - Al

I don't get it either. I liken it to the Browns firing Belichick. They simply do not understand expectations versus reality.

The Tennessee fiasco...a very good coach is denied an opportunity because of a rumor...no one even cares what the truth is.

The odd thing is, no one even seems to worry that, eventually, it will catch up to them.

11/27/2017 04:30:00 PM

(11/27/2017 04:00:00 PM) - Al

Unbiased coverage is exactly what they fear.

Imagine a neutral observer pointing out how unbearably stupid Pelosi sounds when she defends Clinton, Franken, and Conyers, while ripping on Roy Moore.

Imagine the outcry if all 3 networks would have covered Obama telling the IRS to go after groups with "patriot" in their name.

11/27/2017 04:00:00 PM

(11/27/2017 03:00:00 PM) - Al

It's almost as if the CBO is ridiculously biased.

Oh wait...

11/27/2017 03:00:00 PM

(11/27/2017 02:40:00 PM) - Al

No offense to the colonel, who is likely a fine man, but barring the unforeseen, a vote for him is a vote for Doug Jones. Jones could win with 45% if the Marine gets 11%

By the way, when you say a West Point grad who has been a judge for decades is somehow not qualified, after a community organizer was POTUS for 8 years; it makes for a terrible first impression.

11/27/2017 02:40:00 PM

(11/27/2017 02:00:00 PM) - Al

100% true.

So, if Trump's Twitter is so terrible, why would the Dems keep saying he should quit tweeting?

Does the GOP ever insist Hillary stop lying? Of course not. It strengthens their brand.

11/27/2017 02:00:00 PM

(11/27/2017 01:45:00 PM) - Al

Crew claimed Dylan Baker, a RHP off waivers from the Tribe.

For the time being, the 40 man roster is full.

Baker, 25, has scarcely pitched since the 2015 season due to injuries, including Tommy John surgery. The 2012 fifth-rounder has tossed just 21 1/3 innings across three levels in the past three minor league seasons combined, though he’s posted a 3.58 ERA in 241 2/3 innings in his minor league career when healthy.--BR

Stop me if you've heard this before, but he has good control, low walks, high K's, and a low HR rate.

One thing to keep in mind, the Crew does not have a high priority on the waiver wire this offseason...I believe they are 20th of the 30 clubs. Therefore, it is unlikely any "top guys" will sneak through to their waiver position. One benefit of this is, if the Brewers are awarded a claim, they know there's only a few teams that are "left" if they end up trying to outright him to AAA...it's a bit simplistic, but if the 19 worst clubs last year did not want him on their 40 man, it seems likely the best 10 teams from last year won't either.

The Cubs did a lot of this last season, and other clubs have as well...claim players, then send them down. If they get through, great; if not, nothing lost except a minimal amount of cash. Given his injury history, this could be the hope. Or, maybe they see him as a possibility for the major league bullpen at some time. CLE added him to the 40 man after the 2015 season, after only one game that season, and no appearances above high A ball; so they liked his potential.

That would seem to indicate he has one option left for this season, if the Crew chooses to keep him on the 40. He once had plus velocity, but who knows where he's at after years of recovery and rehab.

11/27/2017 01:45:00 PM

(11/27/2017 01:00:00 PM) - Al

Well said.

(11/27/2017 12:19:00 PM) - Al

Only Republicans should ever feel that ashamed.

It's different when you have a (D) in front of your name.

Because shut up.

Remember, Moore should resign because he's accused, but Conyers paid out taxpayer money to settle his attacks, so he's an icon.

Geez, keep up, will ya?

Watch the most popular girl's name by year and state pass by before your eyes.

I was just thinking the other day, I wonder if Trump will get into the top 100 (I'm sure it's already experienced a huge boost, but of course, it was almost zero before, I'm sure).

Hillary, for some reason, fell off a cliff in the early 90's, just after Ms. Clinton became a public figure.

It's a puzzler. We'll probably never know the true reason.

Nelson/Davies/Anderson--3.44 ERA, 5.84 IP/S
All other Brewers' SP's----5.03 ERA, 4.87 IP/S

With Nelson's availability for next season completely up in the air (though Stearns may know far more than they have let on), I have said I expect the team to add a pair of SP's, though one may well be on a minor league contract (perhaps a Wily Peralta type...a veteran who has had success, but has been less effective or injured the past year or two).

Some help may come from within, as Suter, Woodruff, Wilkerson, and Hader all showed flashes of brilliance. Guerra regained some of his velocity, was solid in AAA, and has been good in winterball (though his secondary stats have been pedestrian). But, given the team's record last season, and the amount of prospect depth they have, adding a couple of arms to the rotation mix makes perfect sense.

I thought Odorizzi made sense for the Brewers. One reason why is I think AL East arms always get better when they quit facing NYY/BAL/BOS, three offensive teams that play in offensive ballparks.

Sure enough, Jake has a 4.50 ERA versus those 3 clubs, and a 3.45 ERA against everyone else. Note that the Crew does not play a lot of games versus those 3 clubs. I'm sure they'd be happy to add Colome as well. Probably take 3-4 solid young players or prospects, however.

When you start letting social justice warriors make your football coaching decisions, odds are, you are going to end up with a terrible football program. Needless to say, in football especially, most guys are going to be pretty rough around the edges, to say the least. In this case, it seems to be almost entirely just rumors, nothing remotely proven. In this age of guilty until proven innocent, it's par for the course.

Back when I played 7th grade football, we had a history teacher as our head coach and a volunteer as an assistant. I only played the one year (I found out getting knocked down and even tackling was not any fun at all...in fact it was a lot like work, painful work), but the assistant moved up every year with the team until my class graduated. He swore at us all the time and in general, talked to us like a bunch of little bratty kids, which is pretty much what we were. He was especially rough on the 7-10 really good players we had, so, needless to say, I escaped his wrath.

{Sometimes, it's good to be mediocre.}

At some point in his coaching career, a parent heard him use a particularly bad word, and insisted he be punished. The principal and athletic director asked all the players and other coaches if they had heard said word, but miraculously, all reported going deaf at that moment. No verification equaled no punishment.

Moore is back up to where he was a few hours after the allegations first surfaced.

The lesson? Fight back twice as hard. Pull hair, call them names. Deny, deny, deny.

Of course, the fact the yearbook was leaked and was obviously forged was a gift. It's not over yet, as new, far more believable accusations could pop up at any time. But as of this moment, this is a PR lesson that will be studied for decades.

10-4 last week, I tied for 19th out of 114 tracked by Pickwatch.

99-61 for the season, which puts me in a tie for 50th place out of 114. Jamey Eisenburg of CBS Spots and Jeff Ratcliffe of Pro Football Focus are tied for 1st with 110 correct. I hate them both.

7-4 on the eliminator campaign. I am tied for 16th of 30 in my group; 2 remain undefeated.

12-4 after SUN games. Tied for 55th of 114 tracked by Pickwatch.

Got my eliminator right, but I used up the Pats.

111-65 for the season, tied for 51st of 114.

An AR-15 is basically the same as a hunting rifle, but with some fancy plastic grips that do nothing except scare the cowardly.

Like the dude in the pic, right above the little girl.

Why was it a bad year? Because Bernie wants the USA economic system to fail.

It has thrived, hence, it sucked.

I love it when they do this.

It makes everything they do seem even more ridiculous. It gives those of us who proudly say they're a joke ammo to prove they are a joke.

Remember, these are the same clods who proclaimed Obama was "sort of God." The hell with them, each and every one.

I've only seen a few Rule 5 previews so far, but the best available to me is Dom Nunez, a C from the Rockies system.

He's a nice LH bat, throws well, athletic, and walks a lot. He'd be a tough guy to keep in the bigs all season though...though the Brewers have several options as their reserve, and none are guaranteed to go north.

His BA dropped to only .202 last year, but he had very bad luck, with a .241 BAbip. His OPS was just below 700 even with that, so he deserves kudos for that.

Why ain't it working?

Because no one thinks Roy Moore is a fraction as bad as Bill or Teddy.

When Roy drives into the water drunk, leaves a coed to drown, and doesn't report it until he's sobered up in the morning, folks will start to pay attention. Until then, keep insisting that yearbook signature was signed by his assistant who traveled back in time two decades after Marty McFly was done using Doc's DeLorean.

Brewers enter minor league free agency, likely signing one of their top targets, as Brady has had a very successful, long career in the minors.

As with many of Stearns' signings, he has a good K/BB raio and low HR/9 numbers.

(11/24/2017 08:00:00 PM) - Al

If Obama would have accomplished a mere fraction of this in 8 years, they'd be chipping away rock in South Dakota for the next decade.

Instead, he called Americans bitter clingers, proudly put coal out of business, and sparked gun sales to remarkable highs.

I'm so old, I remember when Obama insisted "full employment" was around 6%. So, not only is it astounding it's now 4%, it's impossible.

And to think, all it took was not apologizing for American superiority.

The most telling thing we've seen in the last year is the left's insistence that not only is the economic recovery a terrible thing (and pure fiction), but actively legislating against it.

You'd be talking a lot about the length of Tiffany's skirt too if you had to try and fight this kind of success.

By the way, when you look like that, you can wear anything you wish. Heck, they should insist she never wear slacks.

It's funny because it's true.

When you can go to school on the government's dime infinitely (as long as you don't screw up and make some money) and stay on the parent's insurance until you're 26 (a century ago, the age many became grandparents); the incentive to grow up and begin adulting is rather tiny. As stated here...socialism is not any worse than the life many are leading of our laziness.

Take a gander at social media, 34 year olds say they have no idea how to cook. 32 year olds admit never having a serious relationship. A 29 year old (who insisted she'd move to Canada if Trump was elected) thinks she is locked out of her apartment, but finds out she's been evicted because she hasn't paid the rent...complains her parents won't send her the money to truck her stuff back home, or for a security deposit. Misses work trying to get a loan and get her stuff into a storage locker. Fired from job because you cannot miss work due to "being a disorganized wreck." Refuses to take job waitressing or bartending because "I'm an Ivy League graduate." When feedback is overwhelmingly negative, deletes account when she leaves on European trip because "no one understands how stressed out I am. I NEED a vacation."

(11/24/2017 04:00:00 PM) - Al

Rewriting history is a full time job when your only accomplishment in 8 years was enacting a historically awful healthcare plan.

I must admit, now "blaming" W for what was considered a proud moment pretty much says it all.

(11/24/2017 03:00:00 PM) - Al

Whoever runs Franken's PR really, really sucks at it.

These non apology apologies do nothing except make everyone mad. His supporters insist they are lying sluts and he has nothing to be sorry for. His opponents need a Franken to English dictionary to understand what he's trying to say...it's gobbledygook, simultaneously maintaining his innocence while also trying to admit poor decisions.

The left was quick to criticize Roy Moore for his unabashed denial, but what would be your reaction if a former significant other, after decades of living your own lives, suddenly falsely accused you of a crime?

My bet? You'd strongly deny it.

That's why Michael Jackson's denials while paying off everyone made him look so guilty. Paying off liars is not only stupid, but it's offensive.

11/24/2017 03:00:00 PM

(11/24/2017 01:10:00 PM) - Al

Heh.

If only this could have been avoided, by simply enforcing already existing rules.

The thing is, the fact that the NFL has been brought down by misreading their public pretty much sums up the elites viewpoint...the rubes are just too stupid to understand how much smarter we are than them. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to explain to the owners why we are hemorrhaging money and ratings to prove how unpatriotic we are.

It's so brilliant, it's tough to believe it has failed.

What's the old saying? Guys like to date "wild women" but they want to marry the proverbial girl next door.

CCB represents that just about as well as anyone.

She walks a delicate line, you often see the very socially conservative comment her skirts are too short and her tops are too tight or low cut. Those on the left often mock her Christianity and her openness to share her beliefs.

Of course, some folks are never happy.

Vikings--W
Cowboys--L
PCSkins--W

This is one of the few Thanksgivings I can recall in which 2 of the picks were really tough decisions.

For about a decade, you just picked the Cowboys and whoever was playing the Lions, and 2-0 was almost a given. Then they added a 3rd game and the Lions don't suck anymore.

Learn from history...communism will never work.

Socialism is just the beginning stages of communism. It's a way to convince the rubes to just sit back and let the government take care of things like health care, food production, and deciding who is deplorable or a bitter clinger.

If you're eating mac and cheese today, you are probably black.

Just like if you like your steak well done. If you are eating seafood in your stuffing, you were probably brought up near a coast (or, are named Al). It's not racist, it's just the way our ancestors ate, for a variety of reasons.

All over the USA, people are making scalloped corn today, but their version sucks, as it does not have a fraction of the butter my mom put in hers, and most do not have any cheese in it. The poor saps don't know what they're missing.

I'm a Wisconsin boy by birth, and an American by the grace of God.

After going 6 months or so with little or no back pain at all, I must have slept wrong a couple nights ago, been in agony since.

After suffering for 48 hours (I kept putting Salonpas patches on, but they fall off as the pain is on my incredibly ripped lower back...only those that know me are laughing), I had enough and started medicating today...took some "Ranger candy" (when you read military forums, you find out they give out 800 mgs of ibuprofen and acetaminophen to our combat forces (one dulls the pain and the other blocks the brain from feeling it), which soldiers take handfuls of at a time if they have to keep going. I combine that with the 15% menthol product (made for horses at Fleet Farm, I dilute it by 30-50% and pour it in my Absorbine Jr. bottle) I spray on and rub in.

{The funny thing is, Absorbine was made for horses. His son diluted it and made the human version they sell today, added a Jr. at the end. You can look it up.}

It's been a couple hours, and I can honestly say I am feeling about 90%. Hopefully, it will heal up quickly.

And by the way, boy, do I stink. I had a fly buzzing around in the house, and he took one whiff of me and passed out dead on the floor.

Now that the Thanksgiving fixins are out of the freezers, I have enough room so I can finally bring in the pizzas I've had in the grill out on the deck.

(11/23/2017 10:00:00 AM) - Al

I copied and pasted a post from Thanksgiving 2007, with a couple extra thoughts....

Dr. Schulman's Thanksgiving story. By far the most requested link in Ramblings' history, someone e-mails for this several times a year.

Bobby Warns' tribute page...we should all be very thankful that we have a military full of men and women who are willing to take on evil and kill or be killed. Regardless of how many times I link to it (it's on the sidebar too, mind you), someone always writes to say they watched it for the first time and how well it is done. If you wish, there is a donation area on there for a trust fund for Bobby's daughter, who was born after he gave his life to protect ours. I promise you, no other gift this holiday season will go to a better cause.

Ben Stein wrote this nearly 6 years ago, and it's just as true today, as we celebrate Thanksgiving, a true American holiday.

Allow me the first of many thank yous for the United States' military, many of which will spend the holiday far from home. Set an extra plate at the table and when someone asks, tell them that's for those who did not make it home this year...or maybe, never will.

If nothing else, I'm thankful we have a president in 2017 that respects law enforcement and the military. He is not without his faults, none of us are, but at least he doesn't have to hide his contempt for American heroes.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that 11 million will enroll in Obamacare in 2018.--Fox Business

Bernie proudly said 13M would lose their coverage if they remove the penalty.

1. That penalty is a hellishly regressive tax, almost all that pay it make less than $50K a year and are relatively healthy. They can't afford the premiums, so they opt to pay a far lesser penalty. Socialists do not care who it hurts, they want people to suffer. That's why they believe in socialism. It makes everyone a have not.

2. How can 13M lose coverage when only 11M have it? I wish the old media would ask him that.

3. I'm not saying Sanders is a liar, but if he's not, he's very math challenged.

That moral superiority was great, until proven to be false. Just politics as usual.

I'm waiting to hear the gals Rose and Thrush assaulted called sluts and hos by the pro woman old media. Down in Mobile, Roy Moore is smiling and asking "How ya like me now?"

(11/21/2017 09:30:00 AM) - Al

It's been my experience that when you make sure many people hate you, others often hesitate to put you on the payroll.

11/21/2017 09:30:00 AM

(11/21/2017 08:30:00 AM) - Al

Al, why do you keep insisting us liberals are negative nellies that are grumpy, and that spend their entire life bitching while you enjoy yourself?

Hold my beer.*

The only thing more negative than liberals and vegans?

A liberal vegan.

*Granted, I really don't drink beer. I guess that's why I need you to hold it.

(11/21/2017 06:00:00 AM) - Al

In which ESPN people make fun of those who say they do not watch ESPN.

Heh. 3rd round of layoffs in 24 months...yes, they're in dandy shape.

11/21/2017 06:00:00 AM

(11/21/2017 03:30:00 AM) - Al

Other than that, he's still a putz.

11/21/2017 03:30:00 AM

(11/21/2017 12:30:00 AM) - Al

Who woulda thunk it?

Now I know why my opening line back when I was single never worked.

Hi, my name's Al. I'm middle income and my looks are rather pedestrian. However, I have been told...hey, quit laughing and come back!

(11/20/2017 11:00:00 PM) - Al

Trump has chosen to blast the NFL and Lavar Ball...neither of which has an iota of sense in their noggins.

You can't have a battle of wits when the opponent is unarmed.

11/20/2017 11:00:00 PM

(11/20/2017 10:49:00 PM) - Al

The Twins have 3-4 players who could be taken in the Rule 5 draft. And, #4 overall draft pick Kohl Stewart is eligible, but not one of them.

Former 1st round pick Luke Bard had a 4-1 K/BB ratio and 13.6 K/9 between AA and AAA. Golly. He looks like he missed an entire season and most of another, so he's 27, but he seems to have found himself.

11/20/2017 10:49:00 PM

(11/20/2017 10:00:00 PM) - Al

I don't mean to be overly simplistic, but, wouldn't large, one time payouts stand out a bit?

11/20/2017 10:00:00 PM

(11/20/2017 07:02:00 PM) - Al

Already seeing several solid ideas for Rule 5 picks. I think this may be the most taken in a long time...especially since the Padres showed you can take 3 and keep all of them if you are rebuilding.

I'd take one annually no matter what, and 2-3 if I did not expect to contend. You don't have to keep them if they turn out to be horrible people or somehow lacking. For $100K, it's well worth it...that's the bonus they give to 10th round draft picks.

11/20/2017 07:02:00 PM

(11/20/2017 06:36:00 PM) - Al

The expected 4 are added to the 40 for the Crew.

11/20/2017 06:36:00 PM

(11/20/2017 03:23:00 PM) - Al

If I'm elected president, this conversation would inevitably take place:

Staff: And then on Tuesday afternoon, you have that ceremony where you pardon a couple turkeys.

Me: That's what you think.

Staff: But, it's tradition.

Me: Tradition is just a word for doing the same stupid crap. Grow the hell up. I ain't doing it.

Then, I would excuse myself for a presidential nap.

11/20/2017 03:23:00 PM

(11/20/2017 03:12:00 PM) - Al

And they wonder why we question their sincerity.

11/20/2017 03:12:00 PM

(11/20/2017 03:08:00 PM) - Al

Last week--Moore is guilty as sin. Quit victim shaming!

This week--She's just a whore. Hell, she probably voted for Trump. And she's ugly, stupid, and fat. We love you Al! Don't quit!

Consistency is not their strength.

(11/20/2017 03:03:00 PM) - Al

Adam says no one wants to give Arietta market value.

I'd rather have Archer too. That said, Arietta plus the 4 young players Archer would cost in trade sound pretty appealing as well.

Years ago, Mark A said you almost always have to overpay for free agents, and that's OK, because you don't lose any prospects or young players. Basically, it's better to lose money than young talent. I tend to agree.

11/20/2017 03:03:00 PM

(11/20/2017 03:00:00 PM) - Al

Interesting.

It's almost as if this entire thing was planned for weeks.

11/20/2017 03:00:00 PM

(11/20/2017 02:46:00 PM) - Al

I like brussels and onions, but the idea this will be anyone's "favorite" shows out of touch they are.

11/20/2017 02:46:00 PM

(11/20/2017 01:00:00 PM) - Al

Ironic, huh?

It's almost as if punishing folks without due process is a bad idea. That's why whenever I hear some insist the Constitution is outdated because "they know better," I wonder if they have really thought about it.

It's easy to say when it's just some rube, and not yourself.

11/20/2017 01:00:00 PM

(11/20/2017 12:33:00 PM) - Al

Imagine Santana to the Giants, in place of Stanton. Not quite as good, but far younger and cheaper. Panik and Beede would make sense given needs too.

Stanton, L3Y---.354/.580
Santana, L3Y--.358/.477

Look, I like Santana. I just think testing his market makes a lot of sense.

11/20/2017 12:33:00 PM

(11/20/2017 12:22:00 PM) - Al

I like Cobb, Chatwood, and Sabathia far more considering the money they've been projected to get and the length of predicted contracts. That said, Arietta and Darvish likely to have best results next year and year after.

Put another way, I'd much rather have Cobb and a couple Swarzak types than Arietta. Of course, we have no idea if Swarzak types want to play in MIL. This is how I feel when I hear someone bought a $70K Escalade too...I'd much prefer a $30K vehicle and money in the bank.

That said, I'm sure I'd enjoy the Escalade...

11/20/2017 12:22:00 PM

(11/20/2017 12:18:00 PM) - Al

Same feeling I've been getting.

Momentum strongly on his side. Allred won't release yearbook. No reasonable explanation for DA initials. In minds of anyone who is not a staunch Dem, he's gone from being a pervert to a guy who likes younger women...hardly a rare trait.

11/20/2017 12:18:00 PM

(11/20/2017 11:30:00 AM) - Al

Yep.

11/20/2017 11:30:00 AM

(11/20/2017 09:30:00 AM) - Al

That's a shame.

She chose poorly.

11/20/2017 09:30:00 AM

(11/20/2017 08:00:00 AM) - Al

This is exactly what I've been saying.

They are saying his tweets are terrible because they're so effective. He talks directly to his people without the old media framing it the way they want.

They barely reported him negotiating their release, and Mr. Ball, who can barely speak a sentence and is a widely known buffoon, managed to make himself look even stupider.

Trump is an absolute master at pointing out the obvious and then allowing intelligence challenged folks to react poorly.

11/20/2017 08:00:00 AM

(11/20/2017 06:30:00 AM) - Al

Too bad to see these liberal finger pointers found guilty in the court of public opinion, 35 years after the alleged "crime."

Turnabout is fair play.

That's a shame.

11/20/2017 06:30:00 AM

(11/20/2017 03:30:00 AM) - Al

Well, to be fair, most of the media probably didn't know what a "score" was.

11/20/2017 03:30:00 AM

(11/20/2017 01:30:00 AM) - Al

Years ago, I remember reading a story about an employee on a large cattle ranch in Utah who was convicted of stealing a dozen cattle, but authorities and the ranch believed he had stolen over 200 over the years, taking about 10-12 head every month or two over the 3 years he had worked there.

I guess when you have thousands, no one bothers keeping track.

Someone pointed out today that in 5 years, women are going to be wondering why men never talk to them.

Because to many gals, a man complimenting a woman's appearance should be considered a felony, and certainly a cause for immediate termination.

If everything is offensive, nothing is offensive.

11/19/2017 09:30:00 PM

(11/19/2017 07:00:00 PM) - Al

Bernie shows the guts to make a statement about Bill's lies and mistreatment of women.

This guy would give a roundabout, nonsensical response to whether he prefers Raisinettes or Goobers at the movies. And, at the end of the day, you'd have no idea if he prefers dried grapes or a chocolate covered legume.

The only thing he's sure of? He wants a lot more of your money, and we don't need 23 deodorants.

11/19/2017 07:00:00 PM

(11/19/2017 05:18:00 PM) - Al

The only thing left to root for?

NE getting ahead by 35 so they can switch us to the Bengals/Broncos contest.

11/19/2017 05:18:00 PM

(11/19/2017 04:56:00 PM) - Al

Question as to why MLB teams wait until the final day to add players to the 40 man.

1. In case they suffer an injury.

2. Insurance and other fringe benefits cost.

I guess the main reason is...why not wait? It's not like they're going to forget.

11/19/2017 04:56:00 PM

(11/19/2017 04:31:00 PM) - Al

She's not officer drunk.

As Frank said...

11/19/2017 04:31:00 PM

(11/19/2017 04:07:00 PM) - Al

About time.

I remember a good speaker and a terrible leader talking about bringing a gun to a knife fight. Fight like a girl, and sleep well at night, knowing you did all you could.

11/19/2017 04:07:00 PM

(11/19/2017 03:58:00 PM) - Al

Many fans seem to think the Crew will add 4-5 prospects to the 35 already on the 40 man to make it 39 or 40 total.

That's partially true, but I assume Stearns will nontender other players as well, to make room for free agent additions, as well as the plethora of players who will be nontendered and released by the 29 other teams. Players have to be added to the 40 by tomorrow night, but players can be released at any time.

I would guess several from the "on the cusp" section will be let go, in one form or another (if they clear waivers, they can be outrighted, which is why teams tend to wait as long as possible so 40's are close to full)...depending on how the braintrust perceives their value, a couple from the "near locks" may be released as well (Jeffress being the most likely, as he may sign a minor league contract to remain in MIL). Remember, many of the latter group are out of options, so if they are not expected to make the club...or to be able to get something of value in a trade from another team, they could be let go sooner rather than later.

11/19/2017 03:58:00 PM

(11/19/2017 01:23:00 PM) - Al

Agreed.

11/19/2017 01:23:00 PM

(11/19/2017 01:00:00 PM) - Al

Why wouldn't he get a multiyear deal? Teams are smart enough to know he plays half his games in Coors. And he's under 30.

11/19/2017 01:00:00 PM

(11/19/2017 12:57:00 PM) - Al

Almost word for word what they blasted the people of AL for saying.

Hypocrites with no shame.

It's different when they do it, because shut up.

11/19/2017 12:57:00 PM

(11/19/2017 12:27:00 PM) - Al

Well, to be fair, if he would have, he would have insisted he did not have sexual relations with that woman.

11/19/2017 12:27:00 PM

(11/19/2017 12:09:00 PM) - Al

Consistency is not their strength.

11/19/2017 12:09:00 PM

(11/19/2017 11:04:00 AM) - Al

I'm seeing people saying Perez, Villar, Aguilar, Jungmann, Guerra, and Jeffress could all be nontendered, along with more obvious guesses like Vogt, Drake, and Bandy.

Any player could be, but with the possible exception of Jeffress (who might be willing to sign a minor league deal with MIL), the others would seem to have value in trade. Guerra, Aguilar, and Jungmann are still minimum salary guys also...I would think they would have a bidding war of sorts, if nontendered, as each would have plenty of suitors, probably getting 40 man spots due to the amount of teams with interest. Jungmann was probably one of the top 5 AAA SP's in the game last season, never mind he tossed a lot of his innings at altitude. I hope the Crew signs a couple similar solid AAA vets to minor league contracts this offseason.

11/19/2017 11:04:00 AM

(11/19/2017 10:28:00 AM) - Al

My 15 year old son missed his only shot yesterday, at a huge buck.

I sent him this link. I'm sure he's pleased.

11/19/2017 10:28:00 AM

(11/19/2017 10:00:00 AM) - Al

Hard to believe they could time off from their job of doing nothing and wasting tax money to...do nothing and waste tax money.

11/19/2017 10:00:00 AM

(11/19/2017 09:58:00 AM) - Al

Well, to be fair, most of us knew it would happen. It took almost two decades, but they even managed to throw Bill Clinton under the bus to protect Franken.

Why? It's all about politics, even when it's really about assaulting women.

11/19/2017 09:58:00 AM

(11/19/2017 05:00:00 AM) - Al

The GOP needs to point out they tried to do something, but were blocked by the Dems who insisted Obamacare is the greatest legislation ever passed, despite the flaws which are numerous, costly, and only getting worse.

11/19/2017 05:00:00 AM

(11/19/2017 02:30:00 AM) - Al

Or, I guess, this.

(11/18/2017 11:00:00 PM) - Al

I pointed this out too.

Remember, Moore should step down...he is accused.

Franken should keep his seat and face an investigation...though he admits his guilt (probably because he allowed a picture to be taken, because yes, he's that stupid).

You got that? But that makes no sense, you say. Why should the one who was accused 40 years later step down (and it certainly appears the main evidence was forged, unless Moore signed his assitant's initials himself, good freaking God); while the admitted pervert be investigated?

*cough*
Look at their parties.
*cough*

By the way, I missed the news tonight...how many thousands of protesters were in downtown Mpls today, vandalizing property, throwing garbage on the ground, and wearing genitalia hats?

I'll wait while you check...

11/18/2017 11:00:00 PM

(11/18/2017 10:03:00 PM) - Al

Spending cuts?

I'm telling you, we have nowhere no cut!

11/18/2017 10:03:00 PM

(11/18/2017 09:31:00 PM) - Al

McCoy has more patriotism in his little toe than the entire NFL has.

To be fair, however, the NFL has McCoy thoroughly defeated when it comes to abusing women.

11/18/2017 09:31:00 PM

(11/18/2017 07:53:00 PM) - Al

If the NFL had a ounce of a clue, they'd fire Goodell and let Jones run the whole league.

The irony is, Goodell has been wrong on every decision he's made, but they are giving him a huge raise and telling him to keep it up.

Meanwhile, they're paying the networks back $500M due to lower ratings, which were completely avoidable just by following the existing rules, put in place by a businessman that knew how to not chase away viewers.

They deserve their downfall, and judging by their lack of a stop loss plan, it will be long and painful.

11/18/2017 07:53:00 PM

(11/18/2017 05:12:00 PM) - Al

As we talked about earlier, Yankees trade a fringe 40 man prospect for a pair of lower minor leaguers.

11/18/2017 05:12:00 PM

(11/18/2017 04:30:00 PM) - Al

She never thought of buying two small ones, I guess.

11/18/2017 04:30:00 PM

(11/18/2017 02:36:00 PM) - Al

I expect all 4 to be added by the Crew before the MON deadline.

Others have predicted Devin Williams will be as well...I would not, but that does not mean they won't.

Many team have far more, and I expect to see an active Rule 5 draft. The Yankees and Blue Jays could lose multiple players, or decide to make a trade or two to bring back younger players that do not need to be protected, or a 2 for 1 swap.

11/18/2017 02:36:00 PM

(11/18/2017 02:30:00 PM) - Al

Yep.

Accuse your enemies of what you were doing.

11/18/2017 02:30:00 PM

(11/18/2017 02:06:00 PM) - Al

Seeing an awful lot of confidence from the GOP about the AL race. The fake yearbook signature, the defiant nature of Moore and his wife, and an overall us versus them attitude (made even worse by the fact the "old guard" Republicans that said Moore should step down have not said boo about Franken)...also, many have simply stated the obvious...Allred and her ilk should have waited longer, as they have been put on the defensive, as Allred refuses to say the yearbook is not forged, and even worse, it sure looks fake, to say the least.

11/18/2017 02:06:00 PM

(11/18/2017 12:55:00 PM) - Al

We'll be cleaning up the mess these clowns left for 50 years.

11/18/2017 12:55:00 PM

(11/18/2017 12:45:00 PM) - Al

If Clinton would have resigned just after the halfway point of his 2nd term, Al Gore could have served 10 years.

Too selfish to do so. The rules do not apply to the Clintons.

Note how quiet they've been about Franken. They know they're irrelevant.

11/18/2017 12:45:00 PM

(11/18/2017 11:30:00 AM) - Al

I know what happened.

First, they chose an inexperienced senator with no experience. Then, they chose a real estate, self promoting reality show celeb.

Sooner or later, one would think she would get the hint. People do not like her. And once you see what a pouty, whiny, terrible person she is, you understand why.

I was chatting with a gal at the office at a meeting about a month before the election. She said this, and I'm sure she wasn't alone:

"I almost always vote Democrat. I would love to see a woman president. I'm not fond of Trump. But, I am having a really hard time supporting her. She reminds me of women I have known my entire life, that will talk nice to your face and then badly behind your back.

I just don't like her. At all."

No idea how she voted, but that's what happened.

They just don't like her.

11/18/2017 11:30:00 AM

(11/18/2017 09:00:00 AM) - Al

Forgot to call them stupid rednecks.

11/18/2017 09:00:00 AM

(11/18/2017 07:30:00 AM) - Al

I feel bad he's guilty, but, you know, politics.

They protect their own. Guilty is just another way of saying sorry.

11/18/2017 07:30:00 AM

(11/18/2017 07:30:00 AM) - Al

Exactly what you would expect from someone trying to rig an election.

Or, perhaps his assistant signed the yearbook for him. He was a busy man then, I guess.

Heh.

11/18/2017 07:30:00 AM

(11/18/2017 05:00:00 AM) - Al

Good to see old friend Junior Guerra pitching well in winterball.

Jorge Lopez also performing admirably.

11/18/2017 05:00:00 AM

(11/18/2017 03:00:00 AM) - Al

Well, they're not conservatives, so...

(11/17/2017 11:08:00 PM) - Al

Consistency is not their strength.

They wonder why no one wants to be on their side.

11/17/2017 11:08:00 PM

(11/17/2017 08:36:00 PM) - Al

This does not seem to be going as planned.

11/17/2017 08:36:00 PM

(11/17/2017 04:36:00 PM) - Al

Why do you suppose they want to send it to the committee?

Because they never do anything.

Remember, Moore should just step down. But when there's actual proof, they suddenly turn into the Hardy Boys and their loyal, chubby friend Chet Morton...let's investigate!

11/17/2017 04:36:00 PM

(11/17/2017 03:30:00 PM) - Al

Thank goodness we have men and women like this to defend our nation, both in the military and law enforcement.

11/17/2017 03:30:00 PM

(11/17/2017 03:04:00 PM) - Al

It's almost as if they've been lying to us...

11/17/2017 03:04:00 PM

(11/17/2017 02:45:00 PM) - Al

It's different when they do it.

The Dems are far better at circling the wagon than the GOP is. They pinched their nose and supported Hillary right to the end. They quickly have done the same for Franken.

However, if they think they are going to attract moderates and independents by defending Franken, I wish them luck. My Facebook feed is full of apolitical folks (and conservatives) complaining about the sudden hypocrisy. Several complaints about those on the left shaming Ms. Tweeden for her Playboy and other modeling pics as well...that is often called "slut shaming," though that's when conservatives do it, as well.

11/17/2017 02:45:00 PM

(11/17/2017 02:24:00 PM) - Al

Hearing lots of teams have difficult decisions to make on how to add players to protect for the Rule 5 draft. This may lead to more nontenders than we are used to, which will be especially meaningful to add to the depth at weak positions in the FA pool...mainly SP.

As for the Crew, even a player I thought was nearly a sure bet, Jeffress, may be squeezed out as they leave up to about 5 spots open for FA additions.

11/17/2017 02:24:00 PM

(11/17/2017 01:30:00 PM) - Al

Remind me, what party was Teddy Kennedy again?

I sense a bit of a pattern here.

11/17/2017 01:30:00 PM

(11/17/2017 01:05:00 PM) - Al

Pence went from being an out of touch old prude to a common sense genius in just a few months.

11/17/2017 01:05:00 PM

(11/17/2017 12:34:00 PM) - Al

Life comes at ya fast.

11/17/2017 12:34:00 PM

(11/17/2017 12:06:00 PM) - Al

The trend the last few years has been to pay for SP's and find bargains in the bullpen.

It will likely continue that way, though many relievers will likely get 3 year contracts this offseason.

Roy Moore's wife might as well be from Mars to the people in NY/LA.

The fact they do not understand his appeal to many in Alabama is exactly why he may well win in Alabama.

(11/17/2017 11:15:00 AM) - Al

No offense to the author, but I sure don't see Liggins' spot in jeopardy, or Terry's.

Vaughn barely plays and had his option for next season declined. Replacing him with another young player would soften the blow a bit, and would balance out the roster more as well.

I'm not sure what the rules are as far as players going to the G League now, but 2nd round pick Sterling Brown should be getting regular minutes with Oshkosh, unless he's needed as a practice player in MIL. DJ Wilson is probably needed as depth with Teletovic injured, but he should too. A month has passed since the season began, and neither has seen 20 minutes of court time, even in garbage time.

11/17/2017 11:15:00 AM

(11/17/2017 10:00:00 AM) - Al

Why are we settling these?

Let the guilty pay their own settlements. This is taxpayer money. This is why they have been so hesitant to criticize Menendez...he's just the latest.

If you ever wanted proof they just look at the taxpayers as an open wallet, here it is.

This is why the mock outrage about Moore was there. They're a bastion of bad behavior, and they are suddenly outed. One would think the names would leak soon. This may turn out to be the story of the decade.

Badgers played great versus #15 Xavier, tied up with a couple minutes left, and as the X coach said, didn't get a break the rest of the way.

That's a good young team. Hopefully, they grow as the season goes on. Davison is as good a freshman as I can recall, and Happ and Trice are really, really good. I'm not sure if they'll keep the tournament streak going or not, but they'll be fun to watch.

(The Brewers) haven’t ruled out taking a look at one of the big-time pitchers, but it doesn’t seem like a likelihood – at least not yet.

They have extra outfielders, and they are taking calls. Nobody is seen as untouchable, but Lewis Brinson is probably close.

The Brewers could consider trying to lock up some productive young players this spring, including Travis Shaw, Domingo Santana, Orlando Arcia and a couple others.--Heyman

Stearns leaks very little.

Immediately leap to the defense of their admittedly guilty comrade. No bias at all.

11/16/2017 05:38:00 PM

(11/16/2017 05:17:00 PM) - Al

I'm not calling him to step down either. Of course, I have said Moore should proceed as well, if he wishes. The only rule about running for Senate is to be 30+ and an American. The citizens of Alabama can decide. Of curse, if he's going to run and lose, I would prefer he step down...but that's not my call, it's his. He won the primary.

Of course, I am not hearing those who insisted Moore step down after a 40 year old accusation, with no proof other than a very phony looking, makes no sense signature...say Franken should do the same after a 10 year old accusation with proof.

Consistency is not their strength.

11/16/2017 05:17:00 PM

(11/16/2017 04:28:00 PM) - Al

Many are defending Franken, even with proof and the admission of pitiful behavior.

If one did not know better, one might think it's directly related to his party affiliation.

Consistency is not their strength.

If they were uniform, they should be calling for him to resign immediately. Heck, as others have pointed out, MN is very likely to be a safe Dem seat, they elected Paul Wellstone, who was probably further left than Bernie "it should be free!" Sanders.

By the way, note how quiet Hilary and Chelsea have been. They know. And they blasted Bill's accusers as liars, sluts, and worse; while going after them without an ounce of mercy for decades.

ADDED: I do admit, I do give Franken credit for not diverting unwanted attention by ending his statement with "I will now live my life as a gay man."

Frat boy Jon Favreau is said to be very disgusted with Franken's behavior.

As pointed out at the link, who could have seen this coming? Ted Kennedy looks like an angel compared to these fellas...and he killed a woman, and then covered it up.

By the way, he served for decades, with nary a peep about his felonious conduct.

11/16/2017 01:16:00 PM

(11/16/2017 01:07:00 PM) - Al

Your hypocrisy is showing.

Remember, many said they would vote to unseat Moore if he won, over a mere accusation 4 decades old, which is now being shown to be highly questionable, as the main piece of evidence looks as fake as my concern for the feelings of snowflakes.

Now that a sitting senator has admitted to wrongdoing, with photographic proof, let's see if that scenario is even brought up. As many have said, quickly calling for an ethics investigation is code for "let's pretend we care while we let this run its course."

If you have any doubt, listen to Dan Rather, liberal hack, describe Bill Clinton's situation 20 years ago.

2. As Menendez proves, if Moore was a Dem, this would be completely different.

(11/15/2017 11:28:00 PM) - Al

It's a forgery, and an embarrassingly bad one. You can tell with the naked eye, never mind analysis.

As I said as soon as the yearbook was presented, this might be the thing that destroys the accuser.

I can't tell you how many times I and other folks have had to go back to someone's house to sign a document, one of dozens on a contract or set of forms. It's humiliating as anything, it makes you feel like an idiot. I've had coworkers have to go back twice or three times. But you cannot fake a signature, or even initials, it's a crime and the punishment is loss of license.

11/15/2017 11:28:00 PM

(11/15/2017 08:51:00 PM) - Al

That's a damn shame.

He should have been dead the day after the day he said "I did it."

11/15/2017 08:51:00 PM

(11/15/2017 08:10:00 PM) - Al

As soon as I saw that signature, I thought it might turn things a bit. The 7's are signed two different ways, no one signs a yearbook in DEC, and there appears to be two different colors of ink. It raises more questions than it creates problems.

If this is a forgery of a stamped signature, it will put plenty of doubt in the mind of voters. Some polls showed him ahead even after the allegations.

11/15/2017 08:10:00 PM

(11/15/2017 07:27:00 PM) - Al

This seems a lot lot a "look at me, look at me" moment for Johnson. All GOP votes are critical; and the ones getting the ink seem to be the ones who seem to have no idea what they want from day to day, McCain, Collins, and so on.

That does not go unnoticed. If Johnson has a pet issue or cause, there's no better way to get leadership to listen to him. Squeaky wheel, grease, and all that.

I was just thinking today, for a decade or so, I was in retail management, and we'd have a district meeting, and there would be about a dozen of us in a room with our boss, and rarely did we all agree on anything...in fact, many were so far off base, it was painful to listen to them. I promise you the 52 senators feel the same way, as not only do they all have different priorities, some do not have to worry about reelection, and some do.

(11/15/2017 12:30:00 PM) - Al

This has been in the old media for a couple years, though the scale of it has never been reported.

If I heard about it in central WI, everyone in entertainment knew it. The Sgt. Schultz defense is not nearly as likely as the "they didn't care" defense.

One gets the feeling this would have been a bit more of an issue if CK would have been a conservative...

11/15/2017 12:30:00 PM

(11/15/2017 11:00:00 AM) - Al

Pretty soon, this becomes a trend so large, even the old media will have to talk about it.

11/15/2017 11:00:00 AM

(11/15/2017 10:12:00 AM) - Al

I must admit, seeing the old media slowly turn on the Clintons now that they realize they're never going to have an ounce of power again simply reinforces how much they've been in the bag for them.

Those "conspiracy theories" seem to be close to the truth.

As someone said last evening, do you think they have more on Hillary? Or did they finally just admit she's dirty?

He won't get 7 years, or $210M.

Remember, Santana has pretty much identical numbers over the past 3 years. JD had a great half season in Arizona, which is a tremendous offensive environment.

MLBTR has him at 6y/$150M. Fangraphs had him at 6y/$156M, and FG's readers put him at 5y/$106M.

I'll go with 5y/$120M.

Archer is very good, and he's signed to one of the most team friendly contracts in the game.

He'd be worth as much or more than Quintana was at the deadline. Probably 2 top 100 guys and another very solid prospect or a young player with 3-4+ years of team control.

(11/14/2017 04:08:00 PM) - Al

Stearns, meanwhile, is quite possibly the best at not answering a question while politely answering a question as any human being alive.

Just a couple thoughts...if you think the Crew might trade Santana (I know, I'm the only one), keep an eye on the teams that are rumored to be interested in Stanton.

If you feel the Crew will trade Broxton (I get it, they have tons of CF depth), keep an eye on the teams that are said to be interested in Lo Cain.

If you'll note, this is the exact same situation that Obama had, albeit, in an apathetic manner, like all his foreign policy. Unless it involved sending pallets of cash to an enemy, the previous administration was not really "into it."

Most of the fan focus on FA 2B for the Crew has been on Walker, which is understood since he already played for the team last year.

However, as I have noted before, Nunez is a better fit in many ways, including his versatility (2B/SS/3B/OF, and he could certainly handle 1B as well) which is something Stearns seems to adore. Also of note, Nunez would pair with Sogard better than Walker, though Nunez does have reverse splits, as he hits RHP better than LHP. He also has far more speed than Walker, and Stearns seems to love athleticism...however, he does not walk as much as Neil. Nunez is also a couple years younger.

I say this every year, but it's especially true with Stanton, who will not only come with a huge financial hit, but cost several good young players as well...whoever "wins" the Stanton sweepstakes will be thrilled to get him, and then in a few years, be thrilled to get rid of him.

The Rams are favored by 12 today...first time by 10+ since 2004.

Jags are favored for the 4th week in a row...1st time since 2007.

Bears are favored over the Packers...first time since 2008.

Whatever strikes me as interesting, and serious Milwaukee Brewers thoughts. If you are a believer in respecting OBP, throwing strikes, and keeping the ball in the park, you may have found the place you've been searching for. I believe in low taxes, small government, and am not afraid to be labeled patriotic. If you are interested in sausage race results, walk up music, or professional wrestling, you may wish to click elsewhere.

The Ramblings' manifesto can be found here.

I'm happy to pay taxes to help the helpless. I don't like paying taxes to help the clueless. Look at the Occupy movement...I'm forced to pay taxes to help those whose plight I delight in.--Dennis Miller

If you choose the path of terror, your life will be empty, and your life will be brief.--President Trump

Never have lives less lived been more chronicled.--Dennis Miller

I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.--Mad Dog Mattis

I have never understood why it is "greed" to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else's money.--Thomas Sowell

Ramblings makes me want to poke my eyes out with a sharp stick.--Marxist sympathizer (one of Ramblings' proudest moments)
