BUMP, edit below.

Woodruff into pitch, and will probably be replaced by Miley before tomorrow's game. Counsell continues to maximize a 13 man staff, turning it into a 13.5 man staff.

Could be him or Williams, as both have pitched nicely.

EDIT: Oops. I've been thinking it was TUE all day. Miley won't be added until after TUE's game.

Here's something to remember...Hader had a 5.37 ERA in Colorado Springs last year, and gave up 14 homers in 52 innings. When people say it's easier to face big leaguers than it is to face AAA hitters at altitude, they ain't putting you on.

No one has ever had a 2.2 inning save with 8 K's in MLB history (the save has been a stat since 1969) until tonight.

ADDED: Dave Heller reports that per Baseball Reference, no reliever has ever recorded 8 K's in 2.2 innings. 7 pitchers had 8 in 3 IP.

That's not since 1969, that's forever.

Late last summer I misjudged the distance I had before turning to sit on the sofa, and banged my big toe into the front base of it. For my clumsiness, I was rewarded with a circular dried blood spot on the base of my toenail, that developed in a few hours.

8-9 months later, it has finally worked its way up to the top.

Toenails grow really, really slowly, my friends.

{Insert punchline here that could have been 8 years into his presidency.}

The mere idea folks are saying Trump should win, much to the consternation of the left, who still dream of impeachment on the grounds of not being fond of him (after all, dissent is patriotic when a Republican is in office, and racist and/or sexist when a Dem is).

Disappointing results for both the Bucks and Brewers this weekend. However, plenty of positives if you look for them.

--The Bucks were a slightly above average team, and at times, things clicked, and they looked like a 50 win team. At others, they looked like a 30 win team. Jason Kidd was right in plenty of ways.

1. They are a young team. However, they are not so painfully young as you can hope for improvement just by growth, except for perhaps Thon Maker.

2. Watching Bledsoe and Giannis commit silly fouls and then insist they can stay in the game without fouling...somewhere there, is an apt description of why they are not better.

3. Giannis is a top 5 player, and will probably still improve for 2-3 more years. We can dream of him shooting 1000 3's every day this summer and him hitting 35% starting in the fall. Can't count on it though. It's not like you can do better somehow. The next coach needs to convince him to just play vanilla, boring position defense in the first half, and quit stupidly going up in the air and not having an idea what he's gonna do with it. Ever notice Lebron commit a foul early in the 4th quarter that seems like kind of a dumb decision? Always followed by the announcer saying that's his 1st foul (maybe 2nd). Giannis does that the entire game.

4. Bledsoe somehow talked his way into the game with 3 fouls late in the first half and swiped recklessly at the ball twice in the last minute. Eric is a good player, and as a FA after next season, his value is not very high. He probably has more value in MIL than he does as a part of a swap.

5. I have nothing against Joe Prunty, but he ain't returning. I still feel Kidd did a very credible job. The one thing he really did that seemed to be overlooked is he designed an intense defense that maximized deflections and length, usually leading to lots of points on turnovers. When it worked, it was a thing of beauty. While it did not work all the time, the change to a dull, basic one; with the Bucks' personnel, never worked, unless they were simply playing a poor offensive team.

6. What do they need? Rebounding and some 3 and D additions. Teletovic's injury and subsequential loss was devastating, yet most can't even spell his name. Even better, 3 and D types that can rebound, like Teletovic was (Ersan is another example).

7. Giannis says he expects Parker back. I do not. Hopefully, the team that offers him way too much on an offer sheet will match up on a sign and trade. It's a cliche, but this is a team that needs team players that want to win. Delly and Terry are not all stars, but both defend and hate to lose. They don't care if they score 20 or 0. Snell too, for that matter, to a lesser degree.

8. I wonder if Horst is really in charge, or just a GM in name only and trying to get the trifecta of owners together, which is almost impossible.

9. I think they'll go for a "big name" who has won. If not, it will be a young coach who they feel will get today's player to give more effort. Jerry Stackhouse comes to mind, as does Darvin Ham, coincidentally, both former Bucks, though the owners won't know that or care; with the prerequisite veteran assistant as their right hand. Budenholzer, Clifford, Fizdale, and Van Gundy shoot to mind as to the bigger names. I've seen college coaches like Jay Wright and Tony Bennett mentioned, but I doubt either would consider it without executive status (the right to pick their own roster).

As for the Crew, they were simply outpitched, which the Cubs will do often. The cold weather didn't help either. They remain HR dependent, which is not a bad thing, as "small ball" takes several things to go right. However, with the wind blowing straight in, it's not the way to be built. Holding the Cubs' offense to 9 runs in 4 games is a sign of good things to come. This is a deep club, both on the 25 man, the 40, and the minors. They have plenty of ammo to fire if they feel they are a piece or two away; or if not, we'll likely see some of those younger players moved up and short term vets moved. I like the way they're put together.

Also, amazed at how many conservatives watched and think this will hurt the Dems. I do admit, I'm not sure why they think mean spirited attacks on a mom of several about her weight and clothing choices will be a plus for the party. Sounds like bullies and mean girls to me.

The next comment replied, "So, if McCain votes for the Obamacare repeal and the tax cuts do not have an end date instead of 2026, it would have been perfect?"

I must admit, if you put it that way, that's mighty impressive.

Counsell jokes about having a "bat ceremony" tonight. Despite the losses, it's difficult to be unhappy, as the pitching, as of today, is far, far better than anyone expected it to be. The Crew has the 5th best SP ERA in MLB, and the 3rd best bullpen ERA.

I assume Miley will be taking Woodruff's place soon, as there's no other way to keep them both, for the time being (well, actually, they could option Guerra, who will not be needed for a 2 week stretch, or Suter, who Miley would take the plaxce of in the rotation WED), but those are not Brewers' type things to do.

Miley also has to be added to the 40, which may be more difficult, unless they put Thames on the 60 day DL. I would assume player #40 is Tyler Saladino, who was just picked up on waivers. They have already lost Susac and Webb, two solid role players, because of the full 40.

If the Crew is looking ahead at Logan and Knebel returning, they may feel fine DFAing Oliver Drake, who does not have options, and barring injury, won't have a spot in 2-3 weeks. Of course, we said that about Aguilar in March too. You wait as long as you can, because you never know.On the bright side, Drake will probably be claimed by several teams, as he's passable and makes the minimum, meaning MIL will almost certainly get something in return.

(4/28/2018 02:10:00 PM) - Al

For 18 months or maybe even more, I have had a bit of a skin irritation behind my ears. Originally, it was caused by my glasses wearing out, apparently the plastic coating that went on my ears was eaten away by my oily skin, leading the glasses (the temples and the temple tips) look like it had been chewed up by a dog, all rough and uneven. I took the glasses in and they happily replaced the frames, as they were well less than a year old, but the skin never healed, remaining red with uneven skin thickness. I tried some creams and tea tree oil, and the TTO worked, took away the itchiness, but after a few days, it would return...it was as if the skin was trying to correct a problem that no longer existed.

So, last week I had a doc appt for an unrelated matter, and I mentioned it to the PA I saw. I had googled it and mentioned to her it had said it was a mild type of eczema, and might be treated with a steroid cream. She called it "plaque eczema" and agreed a steroid was needed, though she said she would try an "ointment" instead of a cream (I never knew there was a difference). After 9 days, I know it's getting better, because I keep forgetting to put stuff on. The lesson? I suffered needlessly for over a year when all I needed was a $9 scrip. Even worse, I went to the doc a half dozen times in that span, as they looked at my bad knee and my "borderline" blood pressure.

You (or your insurance) are paying them. Don't hesitate to ask. Think how stupid I would feel if that had turned out to be skin cancer I let spread and grow for almost 2 years.

I find the sudden acknowledgement that sending a dozen pallets of cash is probably not the best way to handle terrorist nations refreshing, however late to the party.

Peace through strength. No one ever got the bully to quit bothering him by giving him more than he asks for. Punch them in the nose.

During the land warfare phase of training, the students are flown out to San Clemente Island which lies off the coast of San Diego. The waters off San Clemente are a breeding ground for the great white sharks. To pass SEAL training there are a series of long swims that must be completed. One—is the night swim. Before the swim the instructors joyfully brief the trainees on all the species of sharks that inhabit the waters off San Clemente. They assure you, however, that no student has ever been eaten by a shark—at least not recently. But, you are also taught that if a shark begins to circle your position—stand your ground. Do not swim away. Do not act afraid. And if the shark, hungry for a midnight snack, darts towards you—then summons up all your strength and punch him in the snout and he will turn and swim away. There are a lot of sharks in the world. If you hope to complete the swim you will have to deal with them.

So, If you want to change the world, don't back down from the sharks.--from William McRaven's classic commencement speech

Of course, these problems would be solved if she didn't change her mind on various gay issues just because the public view did*. I used to be far left on the subject, and now I'm far right, because I do not feel gays should have "more" rights. I didn't change, society did**.

Because I think over my positions and only have to pick the "right one" once.

*Of course, as a wise man often says, it's easy to change your mind when you don't really believe in anything.

**This is also a downside of mixing religion with law. Not everyone is the same religion (or any religion at all), so be truthful, religion is meaningless in legal circles. Bringing it up in the debate is a waste of time.

1. I've wanted the Bucks to get Alec Burke since he came out of college. Tonight, he's getting minutes for the Jazz since Rubio is out with an injury, and performing well. Good defender, good outside shooter, and always had good "per 36 minutes" stats, but has always been limited in minutes, only once avaging 30 a game.

2. Whether it was with John Stockton and Karl Malone all those years, to their mediocre to decent teams since, I've always thought Salt Lake City had a very underrated home court advantage. Tonight, they're making me proud. The fans are going to be as tired as the players after this one is over.

The irony is, he isn't even a conservative, he is in his 10th year.

All that mattered to the left was he was appointed by Trump. They don't care about facts, just about playing politics.

Wade Miley went 6 innings in AA tonight, apparently his final start before the Crew has to add him to the 40 or release him...no runs, 2 hits, 2 walks, 12 K's.

Seems likely he will be given a chance, though a 40 man and 25 man spot will each be a challenge.

Suter continues his miraculous string of getting exactly 15 outs in each of his 2018 starts.

Considering you have to go 6 or more frames to get a quality start, the Crew must have a very high percentage when Brent does not throw the first pitch, like 15 of 21 or something. I'll check later.

(4/27/2018 08:53:00 AM) - Al

It is very possible we look back at the past 48 hours a few years from now and think they may have been some of the most important in ages.

Or, they might amount to nothing.

The 2 Koreas may be bitter enemies again with a rogue fool at the helm tossing missiles capable (well, we think they might be) of carrying nuclear warheads into the ocean every few weeks. Kanye West may admit he knows less about politics than most ostriches, and only spoke kindly of President Trump so rubes in middle America might think of watching The Kardashians.

{I'll be honest, despite the fact the show is filled with beautiful women (but, enough about Caitlyn Jenner), I don't even know what network it's on.}

That said, the potential is there for this to be as positive a situation for the USA as anything since the Trump tax cuts, and perhaps before that, the Reagan tax cuts.

Because of that, you will see incredible panic in the next week or so. Plenty of insistence the "sky is falling...and this time, we mean it."

I could not help but notice the strong reactions on both sides to the appearance on Fox and Friends. My Twitter feed was boastful. Many suggested the president should do this every week. Brilliant and incredible were the 2 most common words used. As the day passed, many on the left seemed to confirm how successful the appearance had been...by claiming it was awful.

{Of course, the first thing you do when your opponent does something well is insist it sucked.}

Embarrassing. Unhinged. It reminded me of something.

Finally, this morning, I woke up, and it dawned on me. It was exactly like primary season, early 2016, when the course of events went something like this, like clockwork, every week.

1. Trump would say something controversial. He would then bask in the spotlight, ensuring he would get more media attention than the other candidates. Combined.

2. Pundits would insist this was the end of the Trump momentum, that he clearly was not up to the job. This was, to be sure this time, the beginning of the end.

And this time, we mean it.

3. Trump would play to packed houses, and the old media would shake their heads and scratch their chins, looking puzzled while shrugging.

{Mike Huckabee, one of the first to admit and discuss the Trump phenomenon, once said how they'd get a crowd of 100 or 150 people, feel pretty good, they'd get lots of positive feedback, some money would come in. They'd go back to the hotel, turn on the news, and see Trump had filled a 10K arena. 3 times. That day. I believe his quote was, "We soon realized, we were a traveling minister (which, of course, Huckabee was earlier in his life) and they were the Billy Graham crusade."

4. Trump would win 2 more primaries. By far more than the polls had predicted.

Unexpectedly.

5. Also rans would run out of money, admit they had no chance, and quit the race. To a person, as they dropped out, they would either blame Trump or endorse him.

Or both.

6. Trump would say something controversial.

Kimmel is a fraud and everyone knows it. He knows socialism is famous for letting those who can not defend themselves die, both young children and elderly adults.

Will he bring that up? Of course not. It does not fit the narrative. He never explained how a couple making $65K can afford a mortgage payment of $2000 a month while paying $2500 a month for his hero's insurance, which is so bad, over half the people just go without instead of paying for it.

When your chances are:

1. Hope you stay healthy and make it through the year.

2. Pay the premium and go broke.

It really isn't much of a choice. They know it. That's why they never bring it up. They just pretend it's utopian because the old media covers for them, and since only $6M people or so actually know how bad it is firsthand, the rest think to themselves, "Well, it can't be that bad."

Well, to be fair, it's worse.

Be interesting to see how the Avengers film does tonight and this weekend. I have heard more buzz in the last week for it than any film since The Force Awakens. For a while, I thought tonight's gross might be kept down by the NFL draft and NBA playoffs, and it might be a bit, but I still think it will break records.

I'm going with $48M tonight, $252M for the North American weekend, and $575M worldwide. All 3 would be records. Also, this weekend may break the all time mark for total cash by the top 12 movies, which is $305M.

The irony? I won't even look forward to watching on Netflix.

(4/26/2018 05:42:00 PM) - Al

The only way to get these power hungry fools off their "I know better than you" pedestal is to blast them every single time they do stupid things like this.

They wonder why so many people home school. If I took a pic of the Rambling son in his hunting attire, would that warrant a suspension? Remember, it's all just a matter of tiny steps. Obamacare was never about health care, it was about getting the rubes used to "letting the government take the care of it." Go to the school board, and make sure every pro 2nd Amendment friend tags along. And, blast them, and then, make sure every single person you brought with you blasts them.

When they get done getting yelled at for an hour or two, they will probably call a "closed door session" in which the liberal pansies will go in private and weep for a while, cursing the fact they are in a school district with evil Republicans that believe in the Constitution, which is well over 100 years old.

Never forget, these are elected positions. They work for us. There is no law against target practice, shooting, or taking a photo of such. It's just a political power play. It's step 1 or 3 of 144.

It's similar to saying, "We don't want to ban all weapons, just semi automatic ones." And if no one catches on, or knows any better, they have just managed to ban all "one pull, one bullet" guns, which is probably 100% minus a few collector muskets.

Tiny steps.

4/26/2018 05:42:00 PM

(4/26/2018 02:00:00 PM) - Al

Why does no one take the mentally ill problem seriously when it comes to mass shootings?

Well, it could possibly be related to the fact that the old media ignores it while calling every Republican "crazy" and "unfit" because...they are strong patriots and believe in fiscal responsibility.

I know...couldn't be.

Stand up for your beliefs. As a wise man has said often, the reason the liberal education system is completely ineffective at preventing bullying is because they are the biggest and most unapologetic bullies on the planet.

Imagine, if you will, a world in which Republicans vandalized the state capitol, trespassed for weeks, threatened the governor's kids, wife, and picketed outside his house. The public put up with this temper tantrum for 2 years, and fought back the only way they could...the reelected him by a larger margin than they had elected him 2 years prior.

Bully is too kind a word. If only they had the ability to feel shame.

(4/26/2018 04:30:00 AM) - Al

The irony is, blacks have always supported Dems in the 90-95% range. And not once has anyone ever said, "Well, they do that because they're so stupid." You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh.

So, a well known celeb who happen to be black basically gave mild support to Trump, and another just said, basically, not all blacks are Dems. And the attacks were vicious, many pretty much saying Kanye is mentally ill, depressed, or should be locked away.

I cannot believe the term Uncle Tom is still used today, as it is not only racist but ignorant, as the character they are comparing a free thinking black man to is the Christian hero of the story, refusing to betray his relationship with black women. Racism aside, I compare it to some using Forrest Gump as a derogatory term, usually to call someone dimwitted. However, the character Tom Hanks portrayed has so many positive traits (respect for his mom, loyalty to friends, making the most of his talent, working hard, overcoming mental and physical handicaps, allowing him to be successful in the military, in business, in ping pong, and in life).

Suter still listed as the SP FRI, so I assume Woodruff is just up to pitch out of the bullpen, at least for now. After that, it's probably dependent on how Brent does, along with the roster situation.

4/25/2018 11:46:00 PM

(4/25/2018 11:42:00 PM) - Al

I wonder if Counsell thought about bringing Hernan Perez in to pitch the 9th. You know if he would have, it would have been a 1-2-3 inning with a couple K's.

That was the first time I can recall that type of move being made, pulling a reliever who often goes multiple frames and replacing them with a reliever who is 6th or 7th on the depth chart. It was done with an eye towards tomorrow and the next day. I assumed he would just have Hader finish it, or if a move was to be made, it would be Jeffress or Albers.

As I said earlier, every bullpen move Craig makes turns to gold. It's like dumping a blonde cheerleader and starting a relationship with a brunette gymnast...there is no good or bad, there's just wonderful and superb. It's Anna Kournikova or Jennifer Love Hewitt, both in their prime and 15 years ago, both single and looking.

The immediacy in which the old media and Dems have attacked Kanye is astounding. As Scott Adams said this AM, it shows you how important the black vote is to the Democrats. Thames out 6-8 weeks with ligament tear in his thumb, Woodruff brought back up.

Would not surprise me at all if they send Suter or Woodruff down (or both) and bring up a reliever/position player as they get closer to that 2 days off in 5 days that begins a week from tomorrow.

Stearns' fiddling with the roster to allow them to "put off" a decision on Aguilar; a move that completely befuddled all casuals' notion of common sense; has paid huge dividends already.

Tomi Lahren was on Outnumbered a couple days last week.

1. She is very well spoken and made a couple observations that literally left her fellow panelists in silence, because they were so dead on and accurate. Once, Harris Faulkner picked it up after a few seconds of dead air and said, "There you go. Let's move on."

2. She wasn't really any more attractive than the normal females on the show; which include Faulkner, Sandra Smith, Lisa Boothe, Marie Harf, Kennedy, and Jessica Tarlov. Her distinguishing physical characteristic? She may have the most muscular calves of any woman I've ever seen not named Shawn Johnson.

3. Why does she garner so much hatred from those on the left AND women on the right?

Jealousy is an ugly thing, friends. There is no one tougher on a woman's appearance than other women. I've heard 10 times more women make fun of how stupid some gorgeous lady is than men. You never hear a guy say, "He's really handsome...I bet he's really stupid. I have no interest in her...she's pretty, so she must be a moron."

Matt Cedarholm says Thames will probably be DL'd even if his thumb injury looks minor when he has his MRI.

Then the question becomes...Phillips? Choi? Or a pitcher?

Brett has certainly performed the best, and can play all 3 OF spots. Against a LHSP, Aguilar or Braun will play 1B, with Braun/Cain/Yelich/Santana in the OF; so a RH hitter is probably not needed.

Or, perhaps a pitcher until next THU, when they are off, then off again the following MON.

Popular theory: Counsell has been excellent at using his bullpen, mixing and matching.

Reality: Well, the results have been good. However, let's imagine you want a pizza. You go to Domino's and you get a list of their toppings. You remove all the toppings you don't like leaving 8 toppings that you really enjoy. Everyday you choose three toppings from that list.

Since you have removed all the toppings that you don't like the odds are you are going to enjoy every pizza. What am I saying? As long as the relief staff, as a whole, keeps being effective, almost any combo will work, providing a delicious result.

Right now, the bullpen has a 2.56 ERA,  third in MLB. Even that number is artificially high mainly due to one bad outing by Oliver Drake in a game that would have been lost regardless of his performance.

Now you know why they're being so quiet. It not only hurts the narrative, it obliterates it.

As far as I know, this youngster is not even disabled or "not normal." Infanticide, in the case of children born with birth defects, will follow on the heels of government health care...I guarantee it.

That slope gets mighty slippery once you allow the hose to be turned on because "the government knows better."

Saw this scrolling through CraigsList today.

Needless to say, the roof caving in sounds like it was the last straw. At some point, you gotta wonder if maybe someone is giving you a message.

I think I heard of about 5-6 barns going down with cattle in them, all in the Green Bay-Eau Claire, Hwy 29 latitude. Very few if any deaths, but quite a loss regardless. A Wal Mart over by GB had the same thing happen.

Surprised to see Arcia not back in the lineup tonight. He wanted to play SAT. Sogard is not much of a dropoff, but it just seems strange.

Pina activated and catching tonight. Nottingham back to AAA.

No other moves yet, but also no probables for the Cubs' series.

ADDED: Arcia's ankle is ok, per JS. Has stomach trouble.

Seen on Facebook today, a liberal friend of mine said, "This is me, but I call myself an independent. Funny how many people admit now we knew Hillary was lying, but voted for her anyway."

Odd, I have friends that are teachers that vote Dem in hopes of making more money that send out pro life stuff almost daily. I have several that hunt and laughingly make fun of Dems for not wanting to kill a fish or deer, but still vote that way in hopes of strengthening the union (some of those have gone on record as saying they supported Trump instead of Hillary).

My favorite is the guy who said, "I was always told to vote Dem because they helped us middle class people who needed it. Turns out, every policy I see helps those who refuse to work or may far less than me. I guess at some point, I became an evil money grubber, even though we barely make $40K combined and have never owned a new car or a house."

No idea if Stearns is interested, but Wilmer Font was DFA'd by the Dodgers. Font throws 94 mph, and was one of the best pitchers in AAA last year. He was also a Katoh favorite, and had a stellar K/BB ratio.

No options left either. Just pointing out his name because he has many qualities of a Stearns' guy.

Because of the off days (with the always necessary disclaimer of "if no rainouts or rescheduled games mess this up"), the Crew will only need a 5th SP twice in the next 30 days (APR28 and MAY12 or MAY13).

Since the Crew insisted they would go with 8 relievers...but have not done so, in fear of losing that final position player (thought to be Aguilar), one would think they may take advantage of this and use this to their advantage. They could do so in one of 2 ways:

1. Suter could be shifted to the bullpen, and then replaced with a SP when needed, with another swap likely occurring soon thereafter.

2. Suter could be sent down, and replaced with a reliever. When a SP is needed, they would replace said reliever, and so on, until MAY23.

Suter has not been terrible, but he could probably use a low stress outing or two to "work on things" without the constant threat of missing his location by a couple inches and giving up a 400 foot blast.

(4/22/2018 12:44:00 AM) - Al

A couple late night thoughts which will be brief because I hate typing on my phone.

1. Tomorrow, I assume Aguilar will start at 1B because the Marlins have a lhp going. What does this mean? It means many casual fans will complain because themes isn't starting on his Bobblehead Day. And another group of casuals will complain because they think the only reason Aguilar is starting is because he hit a homerun tonight.

Neither group is smart enough to find poop in a sewer, but will argue their point and insist they are right until the end of time...or until Packers' season begins.

2. I see the Brewers are second in the National League in attendance so far this year. Part of that is because the Cubs and Cardinals travel well and have bought a lot of tickets. And a big part of it is the fact Miller Park has a roof. Not having a retractable roof is similar to not having reverse on your car. People are correct when they say you don't really need it...but it is almost impossible to live without once you get used to it.

Kudos to Suter for getting through 5 (he's pitched exactly 5 frames in all of his outings this year) and the bullpen for holding the Marlins to 2 baserunners (both by Albers) in the last 4 innings.

I did not notice that was the same MIA pitcher who gave up all those runs THU until after the HR. I would have felt more confident.

(4/21/2018 06:49:00 PM) - Al

With a day off MON and Suter pitching inconsistently, time will tell if they decide to utilize his remaining options and bring up another player, and then probably Woodruff to start.

If not for the MON off, I bet Taylor Williams would have been exchanged for a fresh arm after last night's affair.

4/21/2018 06:49:00 PM

(4/21/2018 04:58:00 PM) - Al

What I love about this is the out of touch attitude. It reminds me of Paul Wellstone, who proudly was often the lone dissenting vote on 98-1 and 99-1 bills, and instead of folks saying, "What a fricking loon," they would talk about him like he was a principled man of steel, even as his voters rolled their eyes and had him behind Norm Coleman in the polls (a completely forgotten fact, never mentioned after the plane crash).

Look at how this is reported...only one kid walked out, so that means only one kid is "woke" and intelligent. In reality, only a single child has fallen for the old media insistence that all the evil in the world is because the Constitution has not been thrown out...yet (after all, it's over 100 years old).

It's almost as if they were covering for her.

Don't forget, that "bitter clingers" Obama drivel was covered up by the old media and only leaked out when a local reporter mentioned it much later.

Also, when you read articles like this, it's amazing she did as well as she did. Her entire campaign, from Chelsea requesting private planes to the entire group being so out of touch they had no idea what to call the middle class (coming up with 84 alternatives before settling on Everyday Americans, and then stupidly deciding to capitalize it because they were so darn smart compared to us neanderthals).

Hay prices have jumped in the past month or so, mainly due to the heavy snow most of the state got, which delayed the pasture for a couple weeks, at least.

The noon news has "premium" going for $280 a ton, which, for those of us who used to throw the "small bales" around much of the summer, is about $7 a bale. Note that the article states not only are many farmers out, many that grow hay for a living have none left either...having already sold out assuming the demand would have eased by now.

BREAKING: Crew acquires Tyler Saladino from the White Sox, optioned to AAA. Recently acquired Alec Asher DFA'd, team will hope he clears waivers this time so he can be outrighted to AAA.

Saladino has played 1B/2B/SS/3B/LF in the majors, and has a career 611 OPS (281/330). He is a well above average defender at 2B and 3B and a well below average defender at SS. As a RH batter, he is a normal hitter, as his splits show he hits LHP better than RHP.

He is 28.

Why was he brought in? I would assume Stearns will say it was simply to bring in talent, and talent that can be optioned is even better. He is versatile and a quality defensive addition, but very generic at the plate.

For comparison, let's look at the career OPS's of a few Brewers players:

Arcia--689
Perez--669
Sogard--633

As for AAA, Dubon is on the 40, while Orf is not, but saw lots of time during the spring and would seem to be a very possible utility player in the future.

I have to wonder if he was just brought on much like Asher, a player who they may see some nugget of talent in, but will be DFA'd as soon as that spot is needed.

As ridiculous as this sounds, is it possible this is what the Mueller team has demanded in an attempt to save face?

As a wise man has pointed out, they have no end game that does not leave them as defeated failures. Did they ask for this to find a way out, as in, "We'll stop pretending to find stuff that is meaningless if you appoint someone to work with us to give us cover."

Time will tell, but, as is, it's the epitome of government's ability to do nothing except pretend to search do they have a job tomorrow.

I read Scott Adams book, Win Bigly, and finished a couple weeks ago.

He goes over examples like this for the entire tome. The fact that he sees this and many do not makes the old media look really, really small. Trump is an absolute genius at marketing, branding, and steering.

Amen.

This reminds me of the quote often attributed to Howard Stern...No matter how beautiful she is, there's a guy tired of (dating) her.

Or, put another way...anyone can be replaced. If President Trump quits tomorrow, they ain't breaking up the USA. If he can be swapped out, you can bet anyone can.

These clods that think they somehow "deserve" a great paying job that allows them to babble on and automatically have an audience are ignorant fools.

I remember a wise man saying that so little is expected of him, as long as he doesn't pull an Alec Baldwin and call his son a "little pig," his approval had nowhere to go but up. I distinctly remember a lefty panelist on Outnumbered saying his approval would "never get to the mid 40's again" (last summer, it was 40-41). As has been proven over and over in the past 18 months, they have no skills or ability to read the public.

Why has it been in the high 40's and low 50's of late? The economy is good, his foreign policy (and overall conduct) has been incredibly wise and subdued, and everyone's paychecks are bigger, and every Dem voted against it.

And every morning, or at least most of them, President Trump uses his Twitter account to speak directly to the voters. He does it without aides giving him permission or spell checking,

{Hillary's Twitter posts were said to be written and cleansed by no fewer than a half dozen staff. It was as dull as she was.}

but he does it brilliantly. He takes credit for all things good, and blames all things bad on others.

(4/19/2018 06:30:00 AM) - Al

Read the extended thread.

Hillary deserves everything she got and far, far more. Obama was right next to her, and has never been held accountable.

What flabbergasts me is, while they still have not found a single bit of evidence connecting President Trump to collusion with Russia (which, by the way, is not illegal, which is why they chose that term in the first place, because it cannot be proven), they have found piles of guilt from the previous administration AND the fact the Democrats allowed Hillary to run the DNC during a contested primary, clearly a violation of any number of campaign ethics and rules.

I have had a dream several times that my former girlfriends are all sitting around a kitchen table talking about my weaknesses, similar to an Everyone Loves Raymond episode. Laughter is always overwhelming.

Trump's popularity has gone up in the past 3 months, despite allegations from a porn star. Bill Clinton's popularity was at record highs when he was impeached after lying about Lewinsky. Those expecting this to damage the Trump brand are probably thinking with their heart, not their head.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. - William Shakespeare

Dennis Miller said if you ever listen to all the demands they impose on the person sitting next to the emergency exits, McGyver isn't even qualified to sit there.

I agree completely with him, I ask them only one thing...don't you dare get in my way as I run away from the plane at top speed.

I can honestly say I would have been lying on the floor gripping the base of a seat so tight a guy with a baseball bat wouldn't have had any luck at getting me to loosen it up. I'd figure fingers will always heal, but there ain't no recovery from being sucked out of a plane and falling a mile or two. That, my friends, is one sudden stop.

(4/18/2018 09:02:00 PM) - Al

Miley pitched in AA last night, and will be able to go up to 60 pitches in his next outing. No date has been given, but one would assume as soon as Wade feels himself ready to contribute to the worst major league pitching staff, he'll tell the Brewers to put him on the 25 man or let him go.

With the rotation looking far better than it was a week ago, and Woodruff pitching effectively at AAA (and so is Freddy Peralta and Corbin Burnes, for that matter)...barring injuries, I doubt Miley ever steps foot on the mound as a member of the Crew.

It's difficult not to laugh at the people I have worked with over the years that panic 14 times a day at things like 4 way stops and when the breeze changes direction.

Meanwhile, listen to the pilot on the 1380 flight inform the tower that no, the plane is not on fire, but part of it is missing, and a passenger was sucked out.

You get the feeling at any moment, she may be asking for extra mayo on that sandwich.

Too bad the various women's marches are hesitant to glorify women like this, because, damn it, they might just be conservative, damn it.

There's a reason Joni Ernst is not a well known entity and Liz Warren is. It ain't the fact Warren is well spoken or good looking.

The drop in revenue mirrors a sharp decline in membership as teachers, now free to opt out of union membership thanks to Act 10, continue to vote with their feet.

A wise man has used that phrase often. Read the whole thing. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh and laugh and laugh.

The truth is, the teacher's union is so vital and strong, about 2/3rd's of the teachers don't bother paying dues. Act 10 was all about the cash.

How can you tell the Bucks are not a strong defensive team?

When Delly comes in the game, and you see his effort and fight; he looks so out of place. I understand, Giannis (and realistically, Middleton too) can't really go 100% on defense every possession for fear of foul trouble. That said, it doesn't excuse everyone else.

4/17/2018 09:34:00 PM

(4/17/2018 09:22:00 PM) - Al

If I had a $1 for every time I've read in the past couple years Jacob Nottingham will never be able to defend at a high enough level to catch in the big leagues, I'd throw my money away.

I'm not sure if he's much better than below average at this stage, but considering he's 22 and a relative newbie at the pro level (less than 350 games), I feel pretty good to say if he hits enough, he'll be fine. He looks far better than I was expecting, though I don't think he's made a throw to the bases yet. Good at blocking pitches in the dirt, decent at the art of framing.

I thought I'd link to this to assist all those who feel the need to pay more taxes than they are technically required to.

Cain, Thames, and Braun all back in the starting lineup tonight.

Yelich activated as well, Lopez back to AAA.

(4/17/2018 04:00:00 AM) - Al

Oh, and since we’ve already had the shot and chaser, we might as well have the hangover:
Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson said Monday he will require store managers to undergo training to address “unconscious bias” after the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia location sparked online outrage and protests.
That seems so odd — it was just three years ago that Johnson’s predecessor assured us that Starbucks’ employees would be missionaries tasked with immanentizing the eschaton by enlightening their customers on all issues race-related.--Instapundit

1. It's easy to change your mind when you don't really believe in anything.

2. Like the weather, the left's "deep rooted beliefs" will change like the direction of the breeze.

3. The only thing they're sure of? They're way better than the rubes they serve. That fictional sense of superiority is why so many folks keep pulling the lever in the other direction.

JS reports good medicals on Thames, no DL for now.

4/16/2018 10:06:00 PM

(4/16/2018 09:41:00 PM) - Al

Lopez going 3 full innings tonight makes it very easy to send him down and get a fresh arm up in his stead. Could easily see 2-3 roster moves before tomorrow's game, though Braun just PH, so he seems unlikely.

Doesn't look like Houser has been down long enough, and the only other pitchers on the 40 are Freddy Peralta, who just started a game a day or two ago; and Marcos Diplan and Brandon Woodruff, who both started games today.

So, if one happens, it would probably involve a 40 man move. The irony? If he had not been taken off last week, Tyler Webb might well have got the call.

ADDED: Could see a position player up as well in place of Lopez, as he will not be available for a couple days anyway. Choi or Phillips?

4/16/2018 09:41:00 PM

(4/16/2018 07:09:00 PM) - Al

Pina officially on the DL, and while Braun is able to PH, Thames did not do any work on the field today at all and is considered out.

Yelich is expected back soon, and it would look like the possibility of two swapping spots makes sense.

(4/16/2018 07:04:00 PM) - Al

JJ Hoover sees easier paths elsewhere, elects to take free agency.

I would agree, he can pitch in AAA anywhere. With MIL's 40 man issues, he is artificially lower on their list than he should be.

I'm going to try and brave a trip to the DMV today, as the Rambling wife worked at home this AM but then went in at lunch time, and proclaimed the main roads "pretty good."

(4/16/2018 12:31:00 PM) - Al

Jacob Nottingham will be brought up and active for tonight's game.

I assume Pina will be DL'd, as he's missed several games, so it will only be about 5 more, if memory serves.

(4/16/2018 12:30:00 PM) - Al

This is a brilliant move by President Trump, because he is not coming out as pro marijuana, he's coming out in favor of states' rights.

Worrying about being a nanny state and telling adults not to use this or smoke that? Please. Grow the hell up. Far better to have strong penalties for misuse and worry about keeping taxes and spending low.

Interesting thread.

I bounced around stores in retail and often never realized how unhappy people were when I left until I would stop back in.

I don't know why, but it reminded me of this tale too.

{I actually found it while searching for the word "final" but had to go through numerous posts. Apparently, this is the only time I ever mentioned Meg Ryan in 15 years of Ramblings.}

20 inches of snow in Wausau since FRI afternoon. Could be worse, Shawano and Tigerton, both about 45 minutes from here, got 30-33.

No school tomorrow, giving the crews time to get the roads cleaned off. They've had a long weekend, snowed heavily all night FRI, then SAT evening until about 9PM tonight. They pulled them about 1PM today and told them to come back tonight, the city announced a snow emergency and informed folks they were recommended not to travel, and if they did, the police would do their best, but they had other priorities.

The Ramblings' neighbor who has done a lot of work on my car often drives the tow truck during and after storms, and he always says he's amazed at how many people have accidents in heavy snow, and say they "had a hair appointment," or "ran out of yarn making a blanket," or "were going out to eat." Never a "needed my heart medication" or "was scheduled for surgery."

For those keeping track, we had 16.5 inches of snow at 10AM this morning, with 6-10 more predicted, expected to end about midnite.

Thames out, Aguilar in.

It appeared to me Eric had the incorrect foot on 1B when he took that throw from Villar earlier and could not stretch for it at all, and had to leave the bag. Might be related to having some sort of muscle tightness.

4/15/2018 12:20:00 PM

(4/15/2018 11:30:00 AM) - Al

I guarantee you it's the third option.

W should have blasted the old media and informed them the phrase "Mission Accomplished" was meant for the Navy ship he was on, as they had just finished their deployment and deserved all the kudos they could get.

For whatever reason, the old media pretended W had hung the banner himself and was all but declaring the war over. It's almost as if they wanted him to look like a goofball.

What happened? The old media attacked. W acted "presidential" and paid the price. A simple "How dare you attack the sailors on that ship for celebrating a successful deployment?" would have shut them up and given notice there would be none of that crap on his watch.

Bias isn't a new thing.

4/15/2018 11:30:00 AM

(4/15/2018 10:54:00 AM) - Al

Frame it how you want, but teachers looking for more cash is never a logical reason for canceling school.

I can't say what I'm thinking, because I have no idea how old this young lady is.

That said, I think Kyle would have walked cross country to go on a date with her.

Larry the Cable Guy sends them a message as well. Social media makes the world a very tiny place.

This is why the Dems despise the fact President Trump uses it so brilliantly. Let's be blunt...if it hurt him, why would they complain about it?! They'd egg him on, saying he shouldn't be allowed to use it, use the equal time argument.

BUMPED, scroll down to ADDED.

Seemed like a wonderful day to link this.

Allow me to give you the Rambling weather prediction for the future:

In the summers, it will be warm and often uncomfortably so. It will rain, some years more or less than others. The winters will be cold and snowy, though some not as bad than the rest.

The only constant? People will insist that it's much worse than ever before. It has to do with the age old constant of making your own time on Earth seem more important or necessary. In reality, we're as unimportant as dust in the wind.

ADDED: "Science" march cancelled due to bucket loads of now.

Al Gore insists he was with a hooker and was nowhere near MN!

(4/14/2018 04:03:00 PM) - Al

Feeds overwhelmed with those on the left greatly unhappy that the bombing (I guess, technically, missiles) went so well. Targets hit, no misses found as of yet, and depending on reports, few or zero civilian casualties.

Imagine living your life and being unhappy innocent bystanders were not killed. One person said it must just be good luck (in reality, of course, I'm sure the Americans and allies spent much of the past week deftly planning to minimize mistakes. Damascus is a city of about 2M, so avoiding them only through good fortune alone is minimal.
